CITY UPDATES SPRING INTO ACTION WITH CELINA CLEAN SWEEP The City of Celina will host its first Celina Clean Sweep of 2026 on Saturday, March 28, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 10165 County Road 106. This event is open to all Celina residents and offers a safe, convenient method to dispose of items not accepted through standard trash services. Residents are asked to present a current water bill as proof of residency. ACCEPTED ITEMS •
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW): Gasoline, pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, up to 10 paint cans.
•
Document Shredding: Up to 5 boxes of confidential documents (please remove staples, clips, and rubber bands).
•
Used Electronics: Computers, monitors, TVs, printers, scanners, radios, CD players, phones.
•
Bulk Trash: Furniture, mattresses, appliances (appliances containing coolant must be certified as evacuated).
•
Tires: Up to 4 per household, including passenger vehicles, SUVs, lawn mowers, and 4-wheelers (no rims or commercial tires).
•
Yard Waste: Trees, brush, branches, non-treated lumber (to be composted).
•
Recycling: Cardboard and automotive batteries.
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED: Ammunition, fireworks, explosives, asbestos, tires with rims, roof shingles, medical waste, pharmaceuticals, PCBs, unlabeled liquids, refrigerators/freezers without certification, and commercial propane or helium tanks. This event provides residents an opportunity to declutter their homes, promote environmental stewardship, and support a cleaner Celina.
CELINA FIRE STATION #2 COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE IS SATURDAY, MARCH 28 The City of Celina invites residents to bring the whole family to Celina Fire Station #2 (1805 Light Farms Way) on Saturday, March 28, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a community open house combining education, engagement, and family-friendly activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to: •
Meet local firefighters and learn about their daily work to ensure community safety.

Explore fire trucks and equipment up close.
•
Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the fire station.
•
Enjoy activities for all ages, including fresh cookies from Roseanna, the firehouse Nana, and face painting.
Children and adults alike are encouraged to participate in the Sidewalk Chalk Contest, decorating the fire truck driveway with artwork themed around health and safety. A new winner will be announced each hour, offering multiple opportunities to showcase creativity and bright ideas. This event provides a safe, engaging, and educational Saturday outing for families, fostering stronger community connections and appreciation for local first responders.
CHAMBER TO HOST SIGNATURE WINE CRAWL EVENT IN DOWNTOWN CELINA The Celina Chamber of Commerce invites residents to attend the Celina Wine Crawl on the Square, presented by Westwood, on Saturday, March 28, from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. This signature Chamber event transforms Downtown Celina into a vibrant, walkable experience, offering attendees the opportunity to explore local shops, sample wines from exceptional wineries, and engage in an evening of community and celebration. This year’s Wine Crawl promises to be the most engaging yet, featuring: •
14 wineries (an increase from 12 in previous years)

A mechanical bull for added entertainment

Grab-and-go bites from local restaurants

CELINA WELCOMES REGIONAL REAL ESTATE LEADERS FOR REF CONNECT On April 2, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the City will host the REF Connect – DFW Chapter event at 229 W. Pecan St. This collaborative event with REF (Real Estate Forum) represents a strategic opportunity to engage regional leaders in real estate and development while further positioning Celina within the Dallas-Fort Worth growth landscape. REF has successfully partnered with several North Texas municipalities, including the Prosper, Frisco, and Leander, to convene municipal leadership alongside members of the real estate and development community. These engagements are designed to foster meaningful dialogue, align responsible development strategies, and support sustained economic growth. The program will feature a panel of City and EDC staff members. This curated gathering will bring together developers, investors, builders, brokers, capital partners, architects, engineers, contractors, and service providers actively engaged in projects across the DFW region. The event is expected to provide valuable insight, strengthen public-private partnerships, and support Celina’s continued strategic growth.
CONGRATULATIONS TO LINDA MAJEED ON EARNING PTOE CERTIFICATION The City is pleased to recognize Linda Majeed, P.E. PTOE, CFM, Senior Civil Engineer, for successfully earning her Professional Transportation Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification. This distinguished credential represents a high level of professional achievement and is awarded to traffic engineering professionals who demonstrate advanced expertise in the field. The PTOE certification process evaluates a comprehensive range of traffic engineering competencies, including roadway design, signal timing and design, and work zone traffic control. It also requires demonstrated knowledge of critical traffic studies, such as traffic impact analyses, signal warrants, and speed studies. Earning this certification reflects a deep understanding of the technical, operational, and analytical aspects of transportation engineering.
DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Efforts will be made to ensure that lane closures are coordinated to prevent conflicts within overlapping work zones. Monday, March 30, through Saturday, April 4: •
The northbound and southbound left lanes of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
