The City is preparing for the IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, scheduled for this Sunday, March 15. Staff has been proactively coordinating with key community partners, including The Trails Church, First United Methodist Church, and Methodist Celina Medical Center, to ensure operational awareness and alignment ahead of the event.
For the past two weeks, the City initiated direct communications with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders impacted by the race. Outreach includes route details, estimated timing, and safety information to ensure the community is well-informed prior to race day.
Celina will host a segment of the bike course, with cyclists traveling from US 377 to FM 455, continuing to FM 428 and along the Dallas North Tollway corridor. Roadways will remain open to traffic, and cyclists will ride within the normal flow of vehicles. Celina Police officers and designated event personnel will be stationed along the route to facilitate traffic movement and monitor key intersections, supporting safety while minimizing disruption.

• Final cyclist expected: ~1:15 PM
While temporary slowdowns may occur as groups of cyclists pass, traffic will continue to move, and officers will provide direction as needed. The City remains committed to ensuring public safety, smooth traffic operations, and community engagement while hosting this regional event.

In celebration of 150 years of history, heritage, and hometown pride, the City is launching the 150th Anniversary Commemorative Brick Program, offering residents a unique opportunity to participate in this historic milestone. Collin County has notified the City that road maintenance work will take place on County Roads 51 and 53 beginning Monday, March 16, with an anticipated completion date of Friday, March 20, weather permitting. The work will focus on roadway improvements intended to maintain and extend the life of the existing pavement. During construction, Collin County will actively manage traffic control within the work zone, and traffic will alternate through the area as repairs are completed.

Residents and motorists traveling through the area should expect minor delays and are encouraged to exercise caution while driving through the work zone. These maintenance efforts represent an important investment in maintaining the safety, quality, and long-term functionality of local road infrastructure. The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation while Collin County completes these improvements.
Staff has completed the redesign of the City’s public GIS Map Gallery, introducing an updated interface and improved navigation to make mapping tools and resources easier to access. While users will notice a new look and enhanced organization, the main gallery page link will remain the same, ensuring continuity for residents and stakeholders.
Users who access the gallery through the City website will continue to do so in the same way, and any bookmarks to the main gallery page will continue to function. However, bookmarks that link directly to the Interactive Gallery or Static Gallery will soon be discontinued as part of the new structure.
The redesigned gallery includes several navigation improvements. The home page now features “Featured Apps,” allowing users to quickly access the most frequently requested mapping tools without navigating through additional galleries. The new “Explore Maps & Apps” section replaces the previous Interactive and Static Galleries and organizes content into six categories of interest for easier browsing.
Additional resources have also been added, including a Data Download page for users requesting GIS datasets and an Addressing FAQ page to assist with common addressing questions. Overall, the redesigned GIS Map Gallery enhances accessibility and organization while maintaining reliable access to the City’s mapping resources.

Construction of the Downtown Center continues to progress steadily. Swinerton reports that the team is anticipating completion of the fourth-floor deck pours this week. Finalizing these pours will mark a significant milestone in the structural phase of the project. Following the completion of the fourth-floor deck, crews will transition to the installation of exterior and roof structural steel, along with the atrium mass timber compo-
nents, which will begin to define the building’s architectural framework and central gathering space.
Additional work is advancing concurrently in other areas of the project. Overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations are continuing in the basement level to support the building’s core infrastructure systems. Crews are also progressing with curb installations and topping slabs, further preparing the structure for subsequent construction phases. Overall, the project remains active across multiple areas, with structural and infrastructure work advancing in coordination as the building continues to take shape.
As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Efforts will be made to ensure that lane closures are coordinated to prevent conflicts within overlapping work zones.
Monday, March 16, through Saturday, March 21:
• The northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20:
• A section of northbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed north of FM 428 from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM with a flagging operation in place to direct traffic.
