CITY UPDATES
UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ON COIT RD.
Beginning Monday, July 20, Coit Road between FM 455 and Sunset Boulevard will be closed to local traffic only as part of the City of Celina’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) roadway reconstruction project.
Detour routes will be available via FM 455, Sunset Boulevard, and Preston Road. The closure is expected to remain in place for approximately three weeks, with all work anticipated to be completed before the start of the school year.
This project is part of a two-phase roadway improvement effort in the area, with both phases expected to be completed prior to the start of school.
This phase of the project includes full-depth roadway reclamation followed by a new asphalt overlay, helping improve the long-term durability and quality of the roadway.
ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE FOR COUNTY ROAD 53
As part of the City of Celina’s commitment to maintaining high-quality infrastructure, the Public Works Streets Division team will temporarily address dust control on County Road 53. These repairs require the closure of County Road 53.
The closure is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 7:30 AM through Friday, July 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM, weather permitting.
During the closure, all traffic will be directed to use the east entrance of County Road 53 off W. Outer Loop. The City of Celina Public Works team will actively manage traffic control throughout the project to help ensure safe travel.

CELINA POLICE DEPARTMENT TAKES HOME THE HOMERUN HEROES SOFTBALL GAME AGAINST CELINA FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Celina Police Department and Celina Fire Department recently hosted the annual “Home Run Heroes” softball game, a public relations initiative designed to foster positive community relations and strengthen interdepartmental camaraderie. This year, the Celina Police Department secured the victory, returning the ceremonial Golden Glove trophy to Police Headquarters.
The event drew strong attendance from local residents, serving as an effective platform for community engagement and public support for our first responders. The activation was made possible through a strategic partnership with the Celina Police Foundation, which provided event support, and Celina ISD, which graciously permitted the use of their softball facilities. This successful joint effort highlights the ongoing collaboration between City departments, the school district, and community stakeholders to create meaningful communal spaces.
STAFFING AND PROMOTION UPDATES
The City continues to invest in building a strong and talented workforce through strategic hiring and professional development. This reporting period included the addition of a new team member to the Public Works Department and Parks & Recreation Department, as well as a well-deserved promotion in the IT Department.
DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION
As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Monday, July 20 through Saturday, July 25:
• The northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
