CITY UPDATES

LAKE RALPH HALL PROJECT PROGRESS UPDATE

The Upper Trinity Regional Water District recently released a progress report on the Lake Ralph Hall project, highlighting 2025 as a critical year with significant progress across all major components of the development. The report outlines key milestones related to the Leon Hurse Dam and Spillway, the regional water conveyance system, lake visitor center and maintenance facilities, ongoing mitigation efforts, and future recreational amenities.

Lake Ralph Hall remains on track to provide a long-term, reliable water supply for North Texas for generations to come. Both the dam and the water delivery system are nearing completion, with the lake scheduled to begin filling and delivering water later this year in 2026. Public access and recreational opportunities will open once the lake has fully filled and been deemed safe for recreational use.

DUSTY MCAFEE FEATURED IN GDPC SPOTLIGHT SERIES

ANNUAL “CHOUPIE” CONTEST STAFF ENGAGEMENT EVENT

Last week, the City hosted its annual “Choupie” Contest for staff members, featuring a friendly competition centered around chili, soup, and pie - hence the name “Choupie.” The event provided an opportunity for employees across departments to gather, share a meal, and celebrate the diverse talents and personalities that make up the City organization.

Events like the Choupie Contest play an important role in strengthening organizational culture, fostering collaboration, and building relationships across teams that may not interact regularly in day-to-day operations. By creating an informal and inclusive environment, the City encourages open communication, camaraderie, and a shared sense of pride in serving the community. These opportunities for connection help reinforce employee engagement, morale, and teamwork, which ultimately support more effective and responsive service delivery to residents.

PUNK CARTER PKWY BIKE LANE CLOSURE NOTICE

The eastbound bike lane on Punk Carter Pkwy, east of Evergreen Trail, will be closed daily as part of construction activities associated with the Fire Station #4 Capital Improvement Project. This work is scheduled to begin on February 16, with the bike lane being blocked to support construction operations. Traffic control measures will be implemented to maintain two-way vehicular traffic along Punk Carter Parkway at all times. The closure is anticipated to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

• Eastbound Bike Lane – Punk Carter Pkwy, east of Evergreen Trail

SCHEDULE (Weather Permitting)

• Start Date: February 16, 2026

• Estimated End Date: February 26, 2026

TRAFFIC IMPACT

• The contractor will actively manage traffic control throughout the project duration.

FM 1385 LANE REDUCTION – YARDLY SUTTON FIELDS PROJECT

Traffic on FM 1385 from Tudor Place to Aubrey Way will be reduced to one lane to allow for the construction of a turn lane on the east side of the northbound lane, as part of the Yardly Sutton Fields project. Work is scheduled to begin on February 24, and is anticipated to be complete by February 25, weather permitting.

• FM 1385 from Tudor Place to Aubrey Way

SCHEDULE (Weather Permitting)

• Start Date: February 24, 2026

• Estimated End Date: February 25, 2026

TRAFFIC IMPACT

• Both lanes of FM 1385, northbound and southbound

• The contractor will actively manage traffic control throughout the project duration.

CITY WELCOMES NEW PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES

This past week, the City welcomed three new team members to the Public Works Department. These additions strengthen the City’s operational capacity and support the continued delivery of high-quality public works services as the community continues to grow.

DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Efforts will be made to ensure that lane closures are coordinated to prevent conflicts within overlapping work zones.

Wednesday, February 11, through Saturday, February 14:

• All eastbound and westbound lanes of Punk Carter Pkwy between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Thursday, February 12, through Friday, February 13:

• All eastbound and westbound lanes of Frontier Pkwy between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed overnight from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Monday, February 16, through Saturday, February 21:

• The northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.

Monday, February 23, through Thursday, February 26:

• All eastbound and westbound lanes of Collin County Outer Loop between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
