CITY UPDATES FINAL MOVIE NIGHT AT THE PARK IS TONIGHT! The City will host its final Movie Night at the Park presented by Sinacola of the year on Friday, August 21, at Old Celina Park, featuring Disney’s Lilo & Stitch (2025). This free, family-friendly event will begin at 7:00 PM with crafts, food, activities, and entertainment for attendees of all ages, followed by the movie at 8:30 PM. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an evening under the stars with family, friends, and neighbors.
COSTCO AND ACADEMY JOIN CELINA’S GROWING RETAIL COMMUNITY Celina’s growing retail community continues to expand with the arrival of several highly-anticipated businesses along the Preston Road corridor. Following the opening of The Home Depot this past week, the City will soon welcome Costco and Academy Sports + Outdoors, providing residents with even more shopping options close to home. Costco will celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, August 26, with a ceremony beginning at 7:15 AM at 3445 S. Preston Rd. Academy Sports + Outdoors will follow on Friday, August 28, with its grand opening ceremony beginning at 7:30 AM at 3525 S. Preston Rd. The addition of these major retailers reflects Celina’s continued commercial growth and the increasing investment taking place throughout the community. As Celina grows, expanding the City’s retail base provides greater convenience for residents, creates new employment opportunities, and strengthens the local economy while helping establish Celina as a destination for shopping and services in the region.
ANNUAL STREET MAINTENANCE PROGRESSES DOWNTOWN The City’s Annual Street Maintenance Program continues to make progress in the Downtown area. Paving along W. Maple St between N. Ohio St and N. Colorado St is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, weather permitting. Following completion of this work, crews will transition to N. Ohio St between W. Beech St and W. Maple St.
Beginning Monday, August 24, the east entrance to the City’s modular parking lot will be temporarily inaccessible as work progresses along N. Ohio St. During this phase of construction, City team members will access the modular parking lot through the north entrance. An updated traffic control plan will be distributed as soon as it becomes available. The City appreciates the continued cooperation and flexibility of team members and the community as crews complete these important roadway improvements. The Annual Street Maintenance Program represents an ongoing investment in maintaining the safety, quality, and long-term condition of Celina’s roadway infrastructure.
N. OKLAHOMA DR CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES TO ADVANCE Construction continues to advance along N. Oklahoma Dr between E. Beech St and E. Malone St as SYB Construction, LLC progresses with roadway paving and prepares for the next phase of work. Crews recently completed the eastern half of the main roadway paving and are now forming and setting reinforcing steel for the western half, with paving of that section scheduled for Friday, weather permitting. Beginning next week, construction activities will transition to sidewalks, driveways, and roadway approaches throughout this section of the project. This work is anticipated to continue for approximately two to three weeks as crews complete these important roadway connections and pedestrian improvements. Storm drainage work between E. Beech St and E. Malone St is also nearing completion. All storm drainage structures have been installed, with only the remaining curb inlet tops to be completed. The City continues to coordinate closely with SYB Construction, LLC as the project moves toward completion and appreciates the community’s continued patience and cooperation throughout construction.
DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated.

The northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Pkwy from First St to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Monday, August 24, through Friday, September 4: •
The northbound right lane of Dallas Pkwy from Frontier Pkwy to Punk Carter Pkwy will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
