CITY UPDATES HOME DEPOT BOARD CUTTING CEREMONY SET FOR AUGUST 19 The City of Celina looks forward to celebrating the Home Depot Board Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, August 19, marking an exciting milestone as Home Depot prepares to become part of the Celina community. The celebration will begin at 4:15 PM with a Flag Raising Ceremony, followed by Associate Appreciation at 4:30 PM. The official Board Cutting Ceremony will take place at 5:00 PM, bringing together Home Depot representatives, associates, City leadership, and community partners to commemorate the occasion. The event represents another significant step in Celina’s continued commercial growth and provides an opportunity to welcome Home Depot and its associates to the community.
CHILDREN’S LIBRARY PROGRAMMING TO PAUSE DURING AUGUST The Celina Public Library successfully concluded another outstanding Summer Reading Program, providing children and families with opportunities to read, learn, and connect throughout the summer months. Library staff extend their appreciation to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s program a tremendous success. As the Library transitions into the fall season, all children’s programming will be temporarily paused during the month of August. This brief pause will allow staff to evaluate the summer program, prepare new activities, and finalize plans for the Library’s final fall season in its current facility. The Library looks forward to welcoming families back this fall with engaging programs and memorable experiences as it continues to serve the community while preparing for an exciting new chapter.
W. MAPLE ST ASPHALT IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY The City’s Annual Street Maintenance (ASM) Program will include asphalt spot repairs along W. Maple St from N. Ohio St to N. Illinois St. These improvements are part of the City’s ongoing investment in maintaining the safety, quality, and longevity of Celina’s roadway infrastructure. SCHEDULE (WEATHER PERMITTING) •

TRAFFIC IMPACTS •
W. Maple St between N. Ohio St and N. Illinois St will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the work.

Local access and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
•
City team members will access the modular parking lot via Beech St and N. Ohio St.
•
The contractor will actively manage traffic control throughout the project to help maintain safe and efficient access around the construction area.
The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as this work progresses. These maintenance efforts represent an important investment in the continued safety, functionality, and long-term condition of Celina’s streets as the community continues to grow.
N. OKLAHOMA DR ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS CONTINUE TO ADVANCE Construction continues to progress along N. Oklahoma Dr, with a significant project milestone reached through the reopening of the roadway between E. Pecan St and E. Beech St. This section is now open to traffic as work advances along the remaining portions of the corridor. Between E. Beech St and E. Malone St, crews are currently completing lime stabilization of the roadway subgrade, with grading scheduled to begin Wednesday. Paving crews are anticipated to mobilize later this week to begin preparations for paving this section of N. Oklahoma Dr. Storm drainage improvements are also nearing completion. Crews are finalizing grate inlet work along E. Beech St and E. Maple St, with completion anticipated by the end of the week. Following completion of the drainage work, asphalt will be placed along the affected portion of E. Beech St. The City continues to coordinate closely with SYB Construction Co. as work progresses toward completion of these infrastructure improvements.

SOUTHEAST PUMP STATION & GROUND STORAGE TANK UPDATE Construction continues to advance on the Southeast Pump Station and Ground Storage Tank, a critical water infrastructure project designed to strengthen the reliability, resiliency, and long-term capacity of Celina’s water distribution system. Once complete, the new facility will significantly enhance the City’s ability to deliver treated water throughout the community while supporting continued residential and commercial growth. The project includes construction of a new 25-million-gallon-per-day (MGD) Southeast Pump Station, an 8-million-gallon Ground Storage Tank, and a 54-inch transmission main. Together, these improvements will increase water system capacity, maintain reliable water pressure, and provide the infrastructure necessary to meet future demand. Upon completion, the Southeast Pump Station will replace the existing Downtown Pump Station, creating a more modern and resilient water delivery system. Archer Western Construction, LLC, continues to make steady progress on the project. The foundation for the ground storage tank has been completed, and crews are actively constructing the pump station walls. Site work, erosion control measures, and restoration activities along Old Glendenning Road have also been completed. In addition, exterior brick materials have been selected and ordered as construction of the facility continues. The project remains on schedule, with substantial completion anticipated in summer 2027. Upon completion, the Southeast Pump Station and Ground Storage Tank will provide critical infrastructure improvements that strengthen the City’s water system, enhance operational reliability, and ensure Celina is well positioned to meet the water demands of its rapidly growing community.
PARKS & RECREATION TO HOST INAUGURAL CORNHOLE CHALLENGE The Celina Parks & Recreation Department will host its inaugural Cornhole Challenge on Saturday, August 22, at the Downtown Celina Patio, providing residents with a new opportunity to connect through friendly competition and community engagement.
Designed for participants of all skill levels, the event encourages residents to gather, enjoy an evening outdoors, and experience the unique atmosphere of Historic Downtown Celina. Whether competing for the championship or simply participating for fun, attendees will have the opportunity to build new connections while enjoying a welcoming, family-friendly environment. The Cornhole Challenge reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to providing recreational opportunities and community programming that enhance quality of life for residents of all ages. As Celina continues to grow, Parks & Recreation remains focused on creating meaningful experiences that foster community connections at every stage of life. DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY PHASE 4A PROJECT: LANE CLOSURE NOTIFICATION As part of the continued progress on the DNT Phase 4A project, construction crews will soon implement targeted lane closures to support key project activities. These closures are necessary to facilitate the transport of topsoil, conduct mass haul operations, perform area cleanup, and set structural beams. It is important to note that full closure of the left lanes is not anticipated. Monday, August 17: •
The westbound left turn lane of Frontier Pkwy between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed during the day from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

The northbound right lane of Dallas Pkwy from Frontier Pkwy to Punk Carter Pkwy will be closed daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Monday, August 31, through Friday, September 4: •
All lanes of eastbound and westbound Collin County Outer Loop between northbound and southbound Dallas Pkwy will be closed nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Note: Only two nights during this date range will be used, and exact dates will be determined closer to the closure date.
