Letter from Letter from the the Head Head of of School School WELCOME TO CEDAR CREEK SCHOOL Dear Cedar Creek Family, It is a privilege to welcome you to another exciting year of Cedar Creek athletics. Each new season brings fresh opportunities, new challenges, and countless moments that remind us what it means to be a Cougar. At Cedar Creek, athletics are about far more than wins and losses. Our athletic programs are an extension of our mission and an important part of the overall student experience. Through practices, competition, victories, and setbacks, our student-athletes learn lessons in discipline, perseverance, teamwork, leadership, and humility - lessons that will serve them long after their playing days are over.

We are incredibly proud of the young men and women who represent Cedar Creek in competition. They balance the demands of academics and athletics while striving to compete with integrity, determination, and resepct. Whether under the Friday night lights, on the court, course, track, field, or anywhere else our Cougars compete, they carry with them the pride and tradition of Cedar Creek School.

None of this would be possible without the people who invest so much time in our students. To our coaches, thank you for the countless hours you spend teaching, encouraging, challenging, and mentoring our athletes. Your influcence reaches far beyond the scoreboard. To our parents, families, alumni, sponsors, and fans, thank you for showing up, cheering loudly, and faithfully supporting our students and our school. As we begin the 2026-2027 athletic year, I encourage our student-athletes to embrace every opportunity before them. Compete hard. Be a great teammate. Represent Cedar Creek well. Enjoy the victories, learn from the challenges, and never take for granted the opportunity to wear Cedar Creek across your chest. Letter from Letter from the the Athletic Athletic Directors Directors Welcome to Cedar Creek School for another exciting year of Cougar athletics! For the past fifteen years, I have had the privilege of working with our student-athletes as both a teacher and softball coach, and I am honored to now serve as Girls Athletic Director and support all of our girls’ athletic programs. Athletics play an important role in the Cedar Creek experience, teaching our student-athletes to lead with honesty and integrity, strive for excellence, compete with pride, and understand the value of teamwork. As a Cedar Creek alumna, I take great pride in helping carry on the tradition of excellence that has defined our school and athletic programs for generations. I would also like to extend a special thank you to our corporate sponsors who generously give their time and resources to help our athletic programs succeed. Their support continues to make a tremendous impact on our student-athletes. It is exciting to see the continued improvements to our athletic facilities and to watch our students benefit from these investments, including our new Sports Performance Center.

Our student-athletes, coaches, managers, trainers, and spirit groups have dedicated countless hours to preparing for their seasons. Their hard work, discipline, teamwork, and commitment to excellence reflect the values we strive to instill in every Cedar Creek student. Letter from Letter from the the Head Head Coach Coach Creek Family, It is an incredible honor to serve as Head Coach of the Cedar Creek Football program. Cedar Creek has been home to me since 2015, first as a volunteer coach and now as Head Coach. Over the years, I have seen firsthand what makes this school and this football program so special—the people, the tradition, and the pride that comes with wearing the Green and Gold. As I reflect on my first season as Head Coach in 2025, I am incredibly grateful for everyone who supported me, our coaching staff, and our players throughout that first year. Stepping into this role was both exciting and humbling, and the encouragement, prayers, and confidence shown by our Cedar Creek community meant more to me and my family than I can express. I am thankful for the foundation we built together and excited about where this program is headed. My goal is to continue building a program that our players, families, alumni, and entire Cedar Creek community can be proud of. We want to develop young men who compete with toughness, discipline, and heart, but who also understand that the lessons learned through football extend far beyond Friday nights. We will continue creating a culture built on accountability, teamwork, faith, and a commitment to doing things the right way. To our Cougar Family, thank you for the prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support you give our players and coaches. To my staff, thank you for the countless hours, energy, and dedication you pour into these young men and this program. And to my wife, Morgan, thank you for believing in this journey, supporting this calling, and standing beside me every step of the way. Ruston is our home. Cedar Creek is our family. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this program, honor the traditions that came before us, and continue building something that will make Cougars past, present, and future proud. Football Coaching Football Coaching Staff Staff Jacob Angevine Jacob Angevine

Jacob Angevine, known primarily as “Coach Ange,” is entering his second season as Cedar Creek's Head Football Coach after serving as a varsity assistant coach from 2015–2024 and leading the middle school program in 2023 and 2024. A Shreveport native, Angevine graduated from Captain Shreve High School in 2014 before earning a bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education from Louisiana Tech University in 2018. He has also led Cedar Creek's boys and girls powerlifting programs since 2019, guiding them to a combined eight state championships. In addition to coaching football, he has served as a middle school baseball coach and softball assistant. He is married to Morgan Angevine.

Jerry Ginn Jerry Ginn

Jerry Ginn brings a wealth of championship coaching experience to the Cedar Creek football program as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM) in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in Education and a minor in Social Studies. Throughout his career, Ginn has coached at Farmerville High School, West Ouachita High School, D'Arbonne Woods Charter School, Union Parish High School, and Riverfield Academy. He helped lead Farmerville to a football state championship in 2001 and Riverfield Academy to a state title in 2020. Ginn also coached three boys powerlifting state championship teams at Farmerville in 1998, 1999, and 2000. He is married to Jo Ginn.

Jake Mercer Jake Mercer

Coach Jacob Mercer joined the Cedar Creek football coaching staff after first becoming part of the Cougar powerlifting program in 2023. A native of Alexandria, Louisiana, Mercer graduated from Grant High School in 2021 and earned a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports and Clinical Wellness from Louisiana Christian University in 2024. He began his coaching career at Grant High School, working with multiple areas of the football program as well as strength and conditioning from 2021–2024. After serving as an assistant powerlifting coach at Cedar Creek beginning in 2023, Mercer joined the school full-time in 2025. In the classroom, he teaches Sports Medicine, as well as Health and Physical Education. He currently serves as the Cougars' strength and conditioning coach in addition to being an assistant coach of the boys and girls powerlifting teams.

Football Coaching Football Coaching Staff Staff Trent Ginn Trent Ginn

Coach Trent Ginn is from West Monroe, Louisiana, and is a 2021 graduate of Riverfield Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM), where he was a member of the Warhawk football team from 2021–2023 before continuing his collegiate playing career at Louisiana Christian University in 2024. At Cedar Creek, Coach Ginn teaches Middle and Upper School Social Studies and serves as an assistant baseball coach. This season, he will coach the Cougar quarterbacks and running backs.

Caden Lillo Caden Lillo

Coach Caden Lillo joins the Cedar Creek football coaching staff as an offensive and defensive line coach. A 2021 graduate of Cedar Creek School, Lillo continued his academic and athletic career at Louisiana Christian University, where he played football and earned a bachelor's degree in Biology in 2025. Prior to returning to Cedar Creek, he coached football and powerlifting at Caldwell Parish during the 2025–2026 school year.

Mark Ware Mark Ware

Coach Mark Ware serves as Cedar Creek's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, bringing nearly four decades of coaching experience to the Cougar program. A native of Haynesville, Louisiana, Ware graduated from Claiborne Academy in 1980 and Louisiana Tech University in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in Education and a minor in Social Studies. His coaching career includes stops at Haynesville (1987–1997), Ruston (1998–2003), Jonesboro-Hodge (2004–2005), Caldwell Parish (2006), West Monroe (2007–2016, 2018, 2024–2025), West Ouachita (2017), and Cedar Creek (2019–2023, 2026– present). Throughout his career, Ware has helped coach teams to nine state championships and seven state runner-up finishes. He is married to Lisa Ware.

Football Coaching Football Coaching Staff Staff Austin Ginn Austin Ginn

Coach Austin Ginn is a Ruston native and 2012 Cedar Creek graduate. Ginn starred for the Cougars in both football and baseball. He remains the program's career leading scorer and ranks second all-time in career rushing yards. Following high school, he played safety for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs from 2012–2014. Prior to joining Cedar Creek, Ginn served as the defensive line coach at D'Arbonne Woods Charter School before returning to coach at his Alma Mater. Away from the field, he works for his family's business, Ginn's Autobody. He is married to Sydney Ginn.

Haygen Smelser Haygen Smelser

Coach Haygen Smelser begins his first season on the Cedar Creek football coaching staff, where he will coach the offensive line, as well as the linebackers. A native of Magnolia, Arkansas, Smelser graduated from Magnolia High School in 2024 and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education at Louisiana Tech University, where he is expected to graduate in 2028. He previously served as a Louisiana Tech football video team and student assistant in 2025.

Chris Harris Chris Harris

Coach Chris Harris is a graduate of Grambling Laboratory High School and earned his degree in Architecture from Louisiana Tech University. He brings valuable coaching experience to Cedar Creek, having previously served as the defensive and offensive line coach as well as linebackers coach at Grambling Lab from 2013-2016. Outside of football, Coach Harris is the owner and founder of Dryart Contracting Design and serves as a minister at True Believers Baptist Church. He is the proud father of Payton “PeeWee” Harris, a sophomore who wears jersey #1 for the Cougars.

Football Coaching Football Coaching Staff Staff Ben Haddox Ben Haddox

Coach Ben Haddox returns to his alma mater as Cedar Creek's wide receivers and defensive backs coach. A 2000 Cedar Creek graduate, Haddox competed in football, soccer, and baseball, earning All-District and All-Northeast honors in football and All-State honors in baseball while helping lead the Cougars to the 2000 state baseball championship. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2005 with a degree in Health and Exercise Physiology and was a member of the Bulldog baseball team. Haddox previously coached at Cedar Creek from 2007–2021, serving as head baseball coach (2009–2020), head football coach (2010–2017), and athletic director (2012–2021). He led the Cougars to the 2014 baseball state championship and football state semifinal appearances in 2013 and 2016, and was named Lincoln Parish Coach of the Year in 2020. He is married to fellow Cedar Creek graduate Larkin Florence Haddox, and they have three children who attend Cedar Creek.

Lawson Lillo Lawson Lillo

Coach Lawson Lillo is a 2024 graduate of Cedar Creek School, where he was a football player and powerlifter. He is currently attending Louisiana Tech University, majoring in Biology and Chemistry. Lawson began his coaching career in 2024 as an assistant coach for the Cedar Creek Middle School football team and as an assistant coach for both the Middle School and High School powerlifting programs. In addition to coaching, he competes as a Team USA powerlifter, bringing a high level of dedication and experience to the Cougar Athletic programs.

Chad Yates Chad Yates

Coach Chad Yates serves as Cedar Creek's wide receivers and defensive backs coach while also teaching high school math and serving as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach. A graduate of Ruston High School (1994) and Louisiana Tech University (1998), Yates has led the Cougar baseball program since 2023, guiding the team to its first state tournament appearance since 2014 this past season. His coaching experience also includes Calvary Baptist Academy (2008–2012), Evangel Christian Academy (2019), Captain Shreve High School (2019–2020), and Bossier High School (2020–2022). Before entering coaching, Yates played professional baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals organization from 1999–2001. He is married to Carolyn Yates, and they have two children.

Football Coaching Football Coaching Staff Staff Kyle Stracener Kyle Stracener

Coach Kyle Stracener brings 37 years of coaching experience to Cedar Creek, where he serves as Dean of Students and Head Middle School Football Coach. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Stracener graduated from Farmerville High School in 1983 and earned his degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1989. His coaching career has included football, powerlifting, softball, baseball, and track at Farmerville High School, Bernice High School, West Ouachita High School, Calhoun Middle School, Delhi Charter School, Riverfield Academy, and Cedar Creek. He previously coached the Cougars from 1995–96 and 1999–2002 before returning in 2024. He is married to Niki Stracener and has six children and six grandchildren.

Mike Causey Mike Causey

Coach Mike Causey is a 1981 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and earned both a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (1986) and a Masters in Business Administration (1988) from Louisiana Tech University. During his time at Louisiana Tech, he was a member of the Bulldog football team from 1981–1985, playing quarterback and wide receiver. Coach Causey has been a part of the Cedar Creek coaching staff during three tenures: 1986–1987, 2006–2019, and 2023–present. He and his wife, Angel, are proud parents of three Cedar Creek alumni daughters: Katy Causey Smith ('09), Claire Causey Haight ('11), and Caroline Causey ('16).

Baron Cosey Baron Cosey

Coach Baron Cosey joins the Cedar Creek football coaching staff as an offensive and defensive line coach. A native of Prairieville, Louisiana, Cosey graduated from Dutchtown High School in 2023. He currently attends Louisiana Tech University, where he is pursuing a degree in Biology and is expected to graduate in 2027.
