Our workshops aim to provide hands-on training in a supportive setting Past ultrasound sessions covered cardiovascular techniques, while Procedural Skills workshops focused on aseptic techniques, IV placement, and airway management

�� Journal Clubs

We have hosted four journal club sessions covering several

club sessions covering several topics including reversal agents, epidural techniques, nerve blocks, patient safety, and applications of artificial intelligence in anesthesia Sessions have been virtual but will be soon held in person

�� Q&A with Dr. DeSean Thom

Dr Thom from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center discussed his path into anesthesia and shared his views on how medical school and residency applications have evolved over the years

In the 1960s, anesthesiologist Dr Peter Safar, founded Freedom House Ambulance, the first paramedic service in the United States This service not only transformed emergency medicine but also provided training and employment opportunities for African American men, who staffed the ambulances Dr Safar’s work at Freedom House laid the foundation for what became America’s modern Emergency Medical System (EMS) John Moon, a longtime EMT, now preserves Freedom House’s legacy and mentors future responders in Pittsburgh
