Dance at CDO
Students who enroll in dance at CDO experience a program that pushes past the boundaries of movement choreographed to music and technical based classes. Each class is specifically designed to challenge students to grow in their movement skills, choreographic and creative practices, performance abilities and critical thinking skills. In the dance program, students have the opportunity to learn various dance styles such as ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, musical theater, ballroom, improvisation and more. The CDO dance program strives to push students past their comfort zones and to work collaboratively in a supportive environment.
CDO Dancers and Choreographers
The Canyon del Oro Fall Dance Concert we are presenting primarily features the creative visions and choreography produced by our Performance and Advanced classes. The students use a wide variety of dance styles and skills and work collaboratively in class throughout the semester to create fully developed dance pieces. The choreographers not only work to create their choreography but also select their music, choose their costumes, and design the lighting in order to bring their visions to life on stage. They have a chance to work collaboratively with their dancers and a production crew, going above and beyond learning choreography in class to put together an entire production. Through this process the dance students at CDO learn that dance is a universal means of communication and expression. They have worked hard to share their visions with you tonight.
