By Co-op City's first baseball fields will be put hopefully before June, in the area behind the Educational Park, according to Riverbay Corporation officials. The land requires a lot of work, but attention is being directed in the area. Although specific information is sketchy at this point, it is certain that chain-link backstops will be erected behind home plates, and that the land will be graded and planted. The number of fields and the date of completion are uncertain now. The fields will not be enough to accommodate all Little League play, but they will help. The fields may also be used for sand lot games. Riverbay Vice President George Schechter told The Co-op City Times that he is very concerned" about the ball fields, and regrets that they can't be ready for the scheduled start of the Little League season April 19th. More information on the ball fields will be reported as soon as it is available.
