General Manager’s Welcome
As I’m writing this message, we’ve received an additional three feet of snow in the last 24 hours, with more in the forecast. Winter is finally delivering in a big way. A deep base, refreshed terrain and longer daylight hours mean there’s plenty of late winter and spring skiing ahead. Please continue to travel safely during storm cycles, but once you’re here, conditions are outstanding and only getting better.
The excitement on the mountain mirrors the momentum across our organization. Progress continues at Downhill Ski Resort, and it’s rewarding to see this important investment embraced by skiers and snowboarders and enjoyed by members as a lively new gathering place. We’re also celebrating 40 years at TDXC, four decades of community, tradition and miles of shared tracks. Add in the joy we’re seeing at Snowplay, and this season feels vibrant and connected.
With fresh snow on the ground and plenty of spring skiing still to come, it’ll be hard to pass up 2026/27 season passes, valid this spring and on sale March 10.
Tahoe Donner lessons and clinics are in full swing and aren't just for beginners. They’re a smart investment in improving your technical skills and confidence, which are essential for your lifelong enjoyment of winter sports. Whether you’re refining your technique or simply looking to ski more efficiently and comfortably, there’s always something to gain.
Our Food + Beverage team is keeping everyone warm and well-fueled, and if you haven’t sampled the renewed menus yet, now’s the time. Edi-Bōl returned to Alder Creek Cafe last month better than ever, bringing high-quality, flavorful dishes for you, your friends and your family to enjoy.
I also want to highlight two unique benefits for members: Members Ski Free Days and Snowplay Member Nights. These are part of your membership benefits and are designed to bring us together. The turnout and spirit at these events have been fantastic, and we hope the momentum continues. These shared experiences, whether laughing under the lights, gathering in the ski lodge or skiing around the mountain, are what strengthen our recreational community.
While winter is in full swing, summer is closer than we think. Summer program registration begins March 16, and camps and programs fill up quickly. Parents and grandparents will be excited to see that we are expanding Day Camps, adding 50 spots for our most popular age groups and weeks. Be sure to secure your spot and plan for another great summer season at Tahoe Donner.
You’ll also find information in this issue about running for a seat on the board of directors. Team TD truly is a team. Whether through employment, volunteering on a committee, serving on the board or simply participating and engaging, we are all focused on protecting, maintaining and enhancing member use and enjoyment of this special place. If you’re passionate about where we’re headed, I encourage you to consider stepping forward.
Thank you for being part of the energy and momentum. Enjoy the fresh snow, take advantage of your member benefits and I’ll see you out there!

SUMMER CAMPS
Set your children up for an epic Tahoe summer full of outdoor adventure, fun and learning. Tahoe Donner’s camps and recreational programs are available to kids of all ages, interests and abilities. Many of our camps and programs are likely to sell out. To alleviate online congestion, on-sale dates have been spread across multiple days to allow more opportunities for members to access camps and programs. Make sure to double-check on-sale dates!
HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE WITH YOUR
SHOPTD ACCOUNT
In advance of registration, ensure all children ages 3-14 are listed as “member” on your ShopTD profile on shop.tahoedonner.com. Children labeled as “non-member” cannot register for camps and programs during the member launch dates and will need to wait for registration on the guest of member launch dates. Adding children of any age to your account as a member now requires documentation to verify a qualifying family relationship. For more information, visit tahoedonner.com/amenity-access. If you are unsure if your children are set up as members or if you need to add additional members to your account, please contact Member Services by calling (530) 587-9400 or emailing info@tahoedonner.com ahead of time.
You can view all individuals on your account by logging into ShopTD, clicking “My Account” and viewing the profiles under “My Group.” Ensure the child you want to enroll in Summer Camps/Programs is listed in your “Group” and labeled as “Member.” If you need to add additional members to your account, please contact Member Services before registration day. Waiting to add a member to your profile on registration day may result in not being able to purchase the program you desire.
Anticipate longer-than-normal online wait times. You may be placed in our ShopTD virtual waiting room during high-traffic periods. All members who enter the waiting room before the on-sale time, whether it is five minutes beforehand or two hours beforehand, will be equally randomized to enter the store once the products go live. Joining the waitlist early does not increase odds of entering the site first.
Be sure to check out within 15 minutes of adding items to your cart. Please preplan the programs you wish to purchase, because once you have added items to your cart, those items are only reserved for you for 15 minutes. After that time, those items may be allocated to other members, and you may receive an error at checkout.
Due to the high number of cancellations and limited supply, Tahoe Donner strictly enforces its cancellation policies for summer camps and recreational programs. Before registering, please review each camp or program's cancellation policies and plan accordingly.

The Buzz: Clubs
4-Wheelers Club
One of the benefits of being a TD4WD Club member is access to TD4Wheelers.org, where you can review upcoming runs and sign up for them. This reserves your place on the run and ensures we do not get too big a group. Too many people can overwhelm trails, which can easily happen with social media postings. Once runs are at capacity, interested parties are placed on a wait list. This gives organizers the ability to either add a group leaving later or fill in for cancellations. Another notable feature of the site allows members to reach out to other members to make unscheduled “flash runs,” since four-wheeling alone is not a good practice. Links to other 4WD club events, like Red Rock 4-Wheelers Easter Jeep Safari and the Lake Tahoe Hi-Lo’s Poker Run, are also available for you to sign up.
TD4WD Club membership is $25 per year. For additional club information or to join us on our next run, visit TD4Wheelers.org.
American Mah Jongg Club
Faux Jongg (noun): Not to be confused with Mah Jongg, it is the feeling that your brain has betrayed you when you realize Mah Jongg tiles and cards can look similar. You think you might need to start wearing readers. You’re playing off lines memorized from an old card when a burst of joy quickly moves to “oopsie.” It’s the feeling of calling Mah Jongg only to realize it’s a Faux Jongg!
We’ll like you even if you have a Faux Jongg moment! Come play with us on Tuesdays from 12-3PM at Pizza on the Hill. We play American Mah Jongg and follow the AMJL rules.
For more information, contact Dori Schick at doridans@hotmail.com or Deb Bloomberg at debbala@comcast.net
Men’s Golf Club
Tahoe Donner has one of the best golf courses in Northern California, and we are fortunate to have it in our community. Last season’s course conditions were nothing short of epic, and the outlook for this upcoming season is even better. Whether you are new to golf, an experienced player or somewhere in between, our course offers a challenging and fun experience for golfers of all levels. One of the best ways to both enjoy the game and our amazing golf course is to become a member of our golf club!
The Tahoe Donner Men’s Golf Club currently boasts a membership of well over 150 players ranging in age and proficiency. We put on over 30 events throughout the season with something for everyone. We have socials, weekly
Wednesday games, events for family and friends, and competitive individual, team and intra-club events. To join the club, please visit our website at tdgolfclub.com. For more information about the Men’s Golf Club and for any membership inquiries, visit tdgolfclub.com or contact Membership Chair Dave Janiszewski at janiszewski.tdgolf@gmail.com.
Quilt Club
We’re slowly heading towards spring, and I barely made a dent in my project pile since the beginning of the year!
Last year, a wonderful lady came by and showed me an antique quilt made by a family member. Then I lost her contact information during one of those technical phone events I would like to forget. It took me a while to find a person who repairs antique quilts, as it is a highly specialized skill. This lady, Pat Roberts, is part of the Truckee Meadows Quilt Guild, and as expected, is very busy. I will, however, give her information if needed. I sincerely hope my lost contact will reach out.
I have a quilt my godmother made for me with remnants of my childhood
clothing mixed in with her scraps. That was long before I started to explore the art form. At first, I didn’t appreciate the gesture and didn’t treat it with care (took it camping a few times). But eventually, I recognized the work and the gift of these pieces of bright fabrics. Antique quilts are a memory, a time capsule, and something to be cherished for sure. And wouldn’t you know, I love polka dot fabrics now!
If you would like to know what we do, you can contact me at odette.turmel@gmail.com, or show up to one of our meetings. We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 1-3PM in the Meadow Room at the Northwoods Clubhouse. We welcome sewers of all levels, and are happy to answer questions (or at least try) if you need help with a project.
Women’s 9-Holers Golf Club
Membership is now open for the 2026 season. The membership fee this year is $100, and gives you access to all our fun programming, such as Thursday morning golf, Tuesday afternoon golf, Twilight golf (bring a guest), clinics and special events like the Invitational and Club Tournament. New this year, membership to the Northern California Golf Association or NCGA is included. For the first time, you will have official USGA handicaps, which can be used to track how your game is improving, enter a tournament, or level the playing field in friendly competition. Other perks include discounted rates at many golf courses, including Coyote Moon, online member resources and tournaments throughout Northern California.
If you have not joined our club before, we are a fun group of women, 100 members last year of all different abilities and experience! Some ladies are new to golf within their first year or two, and others have played 18 holes for years and may be scaling back to nine holes or still play both. All levels of golfers are welcome to join, but we do require a certain level of ability before coming out on the course. Don’t worry, we help you get there with advice and encouragement!
To learn more about the Women’s 9-Holers Golf Club, email tdwgclub@gmail.com
Women’s Golf Club
The Tahoe Donner Women’s Golf Club board is already teeing up a fun-filled 2026 season! While the course rests and
rejuvenates under a blanket of Sierra snow, plans are well underway to ensure it emerges refreshed, vibrant and ready for play when we open in late May 2026.
The Tahoe Donner golf season kicks off with our Season Welcome in late May, and members of all Tahoe Donner golf clubs –along with their partners – are invited to join the celebration. Weather permitting, our first TD Play Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26.
Throughout the season, the TD Women’s Golf Club offers a full calendar of social and golf events, including club luncheons at our general meetings, a popular invitational during the third week of July and plenty more opportunities to connect, compete and have fun.
Come join us on the course and be part of the fun! Visit tdwomengolf.org for more details and to submit an application.

MEET KATELYN EARLY VISION + STRONG COMMITMENT TAHOE DONNER GIVING FUND
The Tahoe Donner Giving Fund Committee is pleased to introduce you to Katelyn, one of our many successful scholarship recipients.
KATELYN’S STORY
Katelyn has known since middle school that she wanted a career in the criminal justice system. What began as an interest sparked by television crime dramas in seventh grade became a clear goal in ninth grade, when a career research assignment convinced her that she wanted to become a homicide detective.
Now in her final semester at Cal State Los Angeles, Katelyn will graduate magna cum laude in May. In addition to her coursework, she has actively sought opportunities to deepen her understanding of the criminal justice system. As a junior, she was selected to participate in the Los Angeles Community Police Academy. This intensive eightweek program provided firsthand insight into the demanding and complex work of police officers.
This year, Katelyn earned a highly competitive internship working at Azusa High School, a school facing serious gang-related challenges. Working alongside experienced staff, she supported early intervention efforts that helped de-escalate high-risk situations, including preventing potential gun-related incidents. Through consistent, hands-on involvement with students in crisis, Katelyn contributed to improved student engagement and academic
progress. In recognition of her impact and professionalism, the school offered Katelyn a paid position for the remainder of the academic year.
BOLD PLANS
After graduation, Katelyn plans to apply to the City of Alameda Police Department’s 18-month training program. With tuition reimbursement, she will be able to continue her education while working toward her long-term goal of serving as a patrol officer and, ultimately, a homicide detective.
HEARTFELT GRATITUDE
“I cannot express how grateful I am for the financial assistance and encouragement that I have received from the Tahoe Donner Giving Fund. With tuition and housing costs continuing to rise, the support I have received has made it possible for me to remain focused on my education. As someone who has come from very little, this opportunity has been very life-changing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for investing in my future and for making all of this possible.”
ABOUT TDGF SCHOLARSHIPS
Since 2015, the TDGF Committee has awarded 84 scholarships to deserving high school seniors from the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. Two kinds of scholarships are offered: Traditional and IMPACT. Currently, $5,000 Traditional scholarships are offered on a one-time basis with the possibility of a second year of support. They are funded through collective donations made by Tahoe Donner Members. IMPACT scholarships are larger multi-year awards and are funded by a single anonymous Tahoe Donner member. In 2022, Katelyn was awarded a $50,000 IMPACT scholarship.
The Tahoe Donner Giving Fund Committee is chartered by the Tahoe Donner Board of Directors to carry out the mission of the Tahoe Donner Giving Fund: to inspire generosity and charitable giving among Tahoe Donner members to support deserving programs and youth in the greater Truckee Community.
The Tahoe Donner Giving Fund is administered as an affiliate fund of the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, EIN 68-0416404. All contributions are voluntary, irrevocable, and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Tahoe Donner Giving Fund grants and scholarships are made through the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation's annual review process.
The Tahoe Donner Giving Fund Committee thanks our founding partner, Elements Mountain Company, who has supported the Tahoe Donner Giving Fund since its inception in 2014, and the anonymous Tahoe Donner member who has generously funded the IMPACT Scholarships each year since 2019.

Key People
Tahoe Donner’s PGA Jr. League program owes much of its success to the coaches and volunteers who lend their time and expertise each season, instilling a love for the game, fostering teamwork, encouraging course etiquette, shuttling players, helping organize events and much more.
Volunteer coaches must complete a background check and safety courses through the PGA of America. They assist the program’s certified coaching staff with safety, pace of play and basic rules. Volunteer shuttlers/golf cart drivers are typically parents or grandparents of team players, or golfers who enjoy working with kids and driving a golf cart. All volunteers help keep course play to about two hours.
Volunteer support plays an integral role in the all-around development of youth golfers, and the program is proud to recognize the following for their commitment and dedication:
Coaching Hours
Jake Reinhard – 80 hours
Ashley Estabrook – 50 hours
Will Belden – 45 hours
Russ Lai – 70 hours
Connie Kobayashi – 55 hours
John Darby – 75 hours
Most Dedicated Parent/Grandparent Shuttle Drivers
• Mike Publicover (Grandparent of Elliot/Astrid Haghjoo)
• Andy Good (Julia’s Dad)
• The Mayer Family (Brad, Allison and Grandpa Mike)
• Marjan Panic (Michael and Stephan’s Dad)
Tahoe Donner is always looking for volunteers to help grow the program. If you’re interested in participating as a coach, shuttler or helping with events, please contact mspringmann@tahoedonner.com.
Registration Coming Soon
Registration for Tahoe Donner’s golf teams begins April 1. All players must also be registered with the PGA Jr. League. To learn more, visit the website at tahoedonner.com/pga-junior-league.
One Week Every Year –A Lifetime of Cherished Memories
BY CYNTHIA CENDREDA
There is something about summer camps that evokes a sense of warmth and nostalgia for childhood. Perhaps it’s the sunshine, the sense of adventure, hours of carefree playtime and making new friends, or it’s the excitement and anticipation of that one week each year that you dreamt of while staring out the window of your classroom. Whatever those feelings might be, Tahoe Donner is proud to continue this time-honored tradition, offering kids of all ages endless opportunities to discover the magic of Truckee Tahoe. For two Tahoe Donner families, it has become the hallmark of their summer for seven years… and counting!
“For the past seven years, Tahoe Donner Day Camps has been a staple in our summer break. Our families met every July for a week of fun, friendship and adventure. The kids have come through the ranks, with the older siblings serving as junior counselors this year.
We just want to say thank you for the memories!!! You’ll still find the younger siblings at camp next year, and maybe the older ones as counselors in the coming years.”
Sincerely,
– The Gannon + Belajic Families

Tahoe Donner’s Ski Race Team may be modest in size, but they are huge in heart, dedication and achievement. With outstanding mid-season individual and team results, the proof is in the powder that this small but mighty team aims to carve out a name for themselves in the Tahoe Race Series League!
Congratulations to Carter of the Tahoe Donner Ski Race Team on an outstanding achievement – second place overall in the U16+ division of the Tahoe Race Series League. This result reflects dedication, discipline and hard work throughout the season. Well done, Carter! We are proud of you and look forward to what’s ahead.
Congratulations to Azumi of the Tahoe Donner Ski Race Team on an outstanding performance – second place in the U16+ women’s division within the combined U16/U18 class. This achievement reflects strong competition, determination and consistent effort. Well done, Azumi! We are proud of you and look forward to the rest of the season.
Congratulations to the Tahoe Donner Ski Race Team on an impressive showing in the Tahoe Race Series (U14), finishing sixth, seventh and eighth place. Placing in the top 10 in such a competitive field is a significant achievement and a testament to the athletes’ hard work, commitment and teamwork.
Also, congratulations to Charlie, Andrew and Teo on their strong performances this season!
Tahoe Donner Welcomes a New Downhill All-Mountain Ski Team!
BY COACH ARTHUR INNES
Tahoe Donner is proud to announce its inaugural All-Mountain Ski Team for the Downhill Ski Resort! This team, made up of nine athletes, skis all over Downhill’s terrain and terrain park. The team is led by coaches Arthur Innes and Cameron Rice. They focus on skiing off-piste and progressing within the terrain park. Over the past few weekends, the team has emphasized park safety and the fundamentals of building confidence in skiing any park.
The athletes – who are insanely enthusiastic about skiing – have fun in any conditions. Regardless of rain, shine or snow, they do fun drills like practicing skiing backwards and one-ski skiing to become better skiers. Some of the team’s favorite runs, like “Skip’s Plunge” and “Firebreak,” allow for fast turns and an introduction to drops and powder turns.
We are also proud to announce that our team has made great strides in the terrain park. They have started to ski-slide features at 90-degree angles and do spins on the park jumps, both rites of passage in the parkskiing world. In addition, congratulations to team coaches Arthur Innes and Cameron Rice, who have earned the Terrain Park Attendant Certification, which allows them to maintain Tahoe Park terrain features.

A Message From Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD)
TTUSD kindly reminds all drivers to always obey school bus laws. When a school bus is stopped with red flashing lights and the stop sign extended, all drivers are required by law to come to a complete stop – this applies to traffic in all directions. Failing to stop is not only illegal but also extremely dangerous, as children may be crossing in front of the bus and are difficult to see in vehicle blind spots. Your patience and attention help keep our students safe on their way to and from school. Thank you for doing your part.
