This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. HomeFront Magazine: A Spiritual Parenting Resource is a monthly resource that gives your family ideas for creating fun, spiritually forming times in your home—setting aside sacred space in the midst of your active, everyday lives. GOD GIVES NEW LIFE Paul’s Conversion Acts 9; 22 Paul was a man who didn’t know that Jesus was the Savior. God stopped him during his travels and gave him a new way to live. Paul traveled to many countries teaching people about Jesus.

JUST FOR FUN Play “Guess What’s Missing” during a meal. Have one person close his eyes, then have everyone else take an item (utensil, etc.) off the table and hide it in their laps. Then the person opens his eyes and guesses what’s missing. Discuss how hard it would be to be unable to see. Read Acts 9:1–19. Explain what happened after Saul was blinded by the light. Later in the book of Acts, Saul became known as Paul (Acts 13:9). Paul went on to tell people all over the world about Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit wrote many parts of The Big God Story.

REMEMBER VERSE Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13

Summer Lesson 8

• Prior to his conversion experience, Paul was a zealous follower of Judaism who killed those who claimed to follow Christ. • After being blinded on the road to Damascus, Paul’s life was radically changed. • Paul went on to travel all over the known world, spreading the news of Jesus. He wrote 13 books of the New Testament.

DEVELOPMENT Your child is constantly growing and changing. Providing consistent routines at home will help her feel secure during times of transition.

TEACHABLE MOMENTS After reading the Scripture passage, discuss the following together: • How do you think Paul felt when he saw the bright light? • How did God give Paul a new way to live? • Do you know anyone else whose life was changed by God?

BLESSING A blessing can be a spoken prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words of encouragement and guidance over your child. For more information about blessing your child, see the Blessing section in HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource @ HomeFrontMag.com. A blessing to pray over your child: (Child’s name), may you see God’s amazing work in your life, now and always.
