This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. HomeFront Magazine: A Spiritual Parenting Resource is a monthly resource that gives your family ideas for creating fun, spiritually forming times in your home—setting aside sacred space in the midst of your active, everyday lives. Visit www.HomeFrontMag.com to subscribe to the print or digital copy.

GOD CREATED ME Adam and Eve Genesis 1:26–31; 2:4–25 God created Adam and Eve to be in perfect relationship with Him.

JUST FOR FUN Try helping your children connect with the fact that God created them. Gather some pictures or mementos to celebrate when God began to form them. These can be pictures of their ultrasound, of mom pregnant with them, or items from when they were babies. Read Genesis 2. After reading, explain that God created Adam and Eve as the first people, and He still creates each and every one of us. Show them the items you’ve gathered, and praise God together.

REMEMBER VERSE You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things. Revelation 4:11a

Fall Lesson 2

DID YOU KNOW? • In Genesis 1, the Hebrew word translated “God” is Elohim. When this word is used, the power and majesty of God the Creator are being emphasized. • Genesis 2 is a retelling of the creation of mankind. Man was created to rule over all earthly things. • God created man and woman in His image—we bear the likeness of God, the Creator, which makes us unique in all of creation.

DEVELOPMENT When telling stories, remember that your preschooler has an active imagination. Your use of voice inflection and expression will make the story come alive for your child.

TEACHABLE MOMENTS After reading the Scripture passage, discuss the following together: • How did God create the first man? • Whom did God create man to be like? • What did Adam and Eve do in the garden?

BLESSING A blessing can be a spoken prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words of encouragement and guidance over your child. For more information about blessing your child, see the Blessing section in HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource @ HomeFrontMag.com. A blessing to pray over your child: (Child’s name), may you know the Lord who made you and loves you.
