This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word before your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. HomeFront Magazine: A Spiritual Parenting ResourceThis magazine gives families ideas for creating fun, spiritually forming times in their homes—setting aside a sacred space for family in the midst of their active, everyday lives! As the new issue becomes available each month, you may choose to print it for families, or you may encourage them to visit www.HomeFrontMag.com where they can subscribe to the print edition or have a digital copy sent directly to their inboxes.

DID YOU KNOW? • Joseph’s brothers were motivated by their jealousy of him when they sold him into slavery. • God used Joseph’s life experiences, both good and bad, to train him for what lay ahead. • God used Joseph to save many lives, including those of his own family, as he was reunited with his brothers during a great famine.
REMEMBER VERSE
GOD IS BIGGER (PART I) Part of The Big God Story Genesis 37; 49—50
The plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:11
JUST FOR FUN Spend some extra time with your children while putting them to bed. Begin a conversation about the things that worry them. Share with them that God uses everything in our lives for His good—even things that worry us. Then, read the story of Joseph in Genesis 37 and 50:20. Share with your children that God was able to use the events in Joseph’s life for good.
TEACHABLE MOMENTS After reading Scripture, discuss the following together: • How do you think Joseph felt when his brothers sold him into slavery? • How did God use the bad choice of Joseph’s brothers for good? • Remind your child that God can use their life experiences for good too!
DEVELOPMENTALLY SPEAKING Your child may fear things that aren’t based on reality, such as monsters. It’s important not to belittle these fears, no matter how many fears she faces. Be gentle when encouraging her to reach outside of her comfort zone to trust that God is bigger than everything.
BLESSING For more information about blessing your child see the Blessing section in HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource. A blessing to pray over your child: (Child’s name), may you have faith to follow the Lord wherever He may lead. May you remember that God is bigger than anything or anyone. He is always with you. You can trust Him always.
