MASS FOR YEAR 12 GRADUATION 2025

We acknowledge the Wadjuk Noongar People as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather today. We honour their enduring connection to Country, to culture, and to community. As you arrived today, you may have walked through the heart of Boorloo, a place rich in story and spirit. Nearby, the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), holds deep significance for Noongar people. It is a site of spiritual importance, where ancestral beings are said to have walked, and where ceremonies and gatherings took place for generations.

We remember that this land was never ceded, and we commit ourselves to the ongoing journey of Reconciliation: listening, learning, and walking together in truth and respect.

ENTRANCE HYMN

Gather Your People, O Lord

Gather your people, O Lord.

Gather your people, O Lord. One bread, one body, one spirit of love.

Gather your people, O Lord.

Draw us forth to the table of life: brothers and sisters, each of us called to walk in your light.

We are parts of the body of Christ, needing each other, each of the gifts the Spirit provides.

No more harm on the mountain of God; swords into plowshares.

Free us, O Lord, from hardness of heart.

Wash us, Lord, in the waters of life; waters of mercy, waters of hope that flow from your side.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

MESSAGE OF GOD

FIRST READING

1 Timothy 4:12-16 (Read by Layla Newman)

A reading from the first letter of St Paul to Timothy

Do not let people disregard you because you are young, but be an example to all the believers in the way you speak and behave, and in your love, your faith and your purity. Make use of the time until I arrive by reading to the people, preaching and teaching. You have in you a spiritual gift which was given to you when the prophets spoke and the body of elders laid their hands on you; do not let it lie unused. Think hard about all this, and put it into practice, and everyone will be able to see how you are advancing. Take great care about what you do and what you teach; always do this, and in this way you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.

The Word of the Lord.

Response: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Ps 95:1-3, 7-8, 10 (Read by Chelsea Ernst)

Response (R.) - Proclaim his marvellous deeds to all the nations.

O sing a new song to the Lord, sing to the Lord all the earth. O sing to the Lord, bless his name. R.

Proclaim his help day by day, tell among the nations his glory and his wonders among all the people. R.

Give the Lord, you families of peoples, give the Lord glory and power, give the Lord the glory of his name. R.

Proclaim to the nations: ‘God is king.’

The world he made firm in its place; he will judge the peoples in fairness. R.

SECOND READING

1 Corinthians 12:4-13 (Read by Ramielle Lazar)

A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians

There is a variety of gifts but always the same Spirit; there are all sorts of service to be done, but always to the same Lord; working in all sorts of different ways in different people, it is the same God who is working in all of them. The particular way in which the Spirit is given to each person is for a good purpose. One may have the gift of preaching with wisdom given him by the Spirit; another may have the gift of preaching instruction given him by the same Spirit; and another the gift of faith given by the same Spirit; another again the gift of healing, through this one Spirit; one, the power of miracles; another, prophecy; another the gift of recognising spirits; another the gift of tongues and another the ability to interpret them. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who distributes different gifts to different people just as he chooses.

Just as a human body, though it is made up of many parts, is a single unit because all these parts, though many, make one body, so it is with Christ. In the one Spirit we were all baptised, Jews as well as Greeks, slaves as well as citizens, and one Spirit was given to us all to drink.

The Word of the Lord.

Response: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

Matthew 5:13-16 (Read by Ramielle Lazar)

Celebrant: The Lord be with you,

Response: And with your Spirit.

Celebrant: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew,

Response: Glory to You, O Lord.

Celebrant:

Jesus went up the mountain and was joined by his disciples. Then he began to teach them: “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

The Gospel of the Lord.

Response: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

Taitum O’Reilly

We pray for the Year 11 students who will soon step into leadership as the Class of 2026. May they lead with humility, courage, and a deep sense of mission. May they build on the legacy of those before them and continue to shape our College as a place of faith, learning, and love.

Through the intercession of Saint John Paul II, Patron Saint of Young people, we pray for our graduating class. Gathered here this evening we are united in friendship, faith, and shared memories. As we step into new beginnings, may we carry the values of Corpus Christi College with us - courage, commitment and compassion.

Lord, hear us.

Response: Lord, hear our prayer.

We give thanks for the lessons we’ve learned — not only in classrooms, but in relationships, service, and prayer. May we continue to seek Your truth in the world around us, and may Your love guide us to live with purpose and joy.

Loving and gracious God,

You have walked with these Year 12 students throughout their journey at Corpus Christi College. We thank You for the gifts they have shared, the leadership they have offered, and the faith they have nurtured in our community.

As they step into new paths, may they carry Your light within them, courageously, committedly and compassionately. Bless those who will follow in their footsteps, especially the incoming Year 12 leaders, that they may continue to build a College planted in love, service, and truth.

Hear these prayers offered today, and guide us all to be faithful witnesses of Your Kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Response:

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, The Lord is with you.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

We Are One Body (Rosemary Scallon Dana)

We are one body, one body in Christ; And we do not stand alone. We are one body, one body in Christ; And he came that we might have life.

I will live in you, and you will live in my love. When you eat my body and you drink my blood, I will live in you, and you will live in my love.

Will you feed my hungry, will you help my lame? See the unborn baby, the forgotten one, They are not forsaken, they are not unloved.

I am the Way, the Truth, the Life; He who believes in me will have eternal life. I am the Way, the Truth, the Life, I am the Final Sacrifice, I am the Way, the Truth, the Life; He who believes in me will have eternal life.

CONCLUDING RITE

Blessing of the Graduands

Celebrant:

- All sit except for the Graduands -

Spirit of Wisdom, Your Truth fills our world and invites us into a lifetime of learning.

Bless these graduands and give them joy and a sense of accomplishment in what they have achieved already in their young lives. Give them a thirst for knowledge and the joy of learning.

May they reject the allure of false and fleeting promises and prepare them to accept the lessons of experience. Open them to faith as well as reason, intuition as well as logic.

Through all their life, give them an inner peace so they are neither inflated by what they know nor frustrated by what is still beyond their grasp.

May they find a rich harvest in living Your will. Bless these young people with Your wisdom and peace.

Graduands:

Amen.

GRADUATION PRAYER

Led by Xavier Petta and Emily Boudville

Graduating Class of 2025, please join us in prayer.

Graduands:

Lord God, be with us as we make the transition from school to the world of further education or employment.

As we step forward, to take our place in a society that is sometimes hostile to Christ’s way of life, remind us of His values that we have experienced at school and in our homes.

Help us to recognise and encourage what is humanly good and help us to develop our talents for the benefit of others.

May we become throughout our lives more and more like Christ in the way we think and in the way we act.

We ask this through Jesus Christ.

Amen.
