3rd Annual Bikers for Christ Toy Drive Jody Watchorn WRITER The 3rd Annual Bikers for Christ Toy Drive, held on November 29, 2025, to support Manna House in Oakhurst, was an incredible success and a heartwarming display of generosity. Riders from across our local community—and even from various parts of the valley—came together for this meaningful cause. More than 40 motorcycles rumbled into the event, accompanied by several supporters who caged it, making the turnout even larger than in previous years. It’s inspiring to see how this event continues to grow, drawing more participants and spreading even more Christmas cheer each time.
Thanks to the kindness of everyone who attended, an impressive number of toys were collected. These gifts will bring joy to local children and help families who may be struggling to provide presents during the holiday season. The sight of so many people uniting to make a difference truly captured the spirit of giving. We are deeply grateful to all the volunteers, riders, donors, and organizers who put their time, effort, and hearts into making this year’s toy drive such a memorable and impactful event. Together, we helped bring hope and happiness to families in need, proving once again what our community can accomplish when we come together. Continued on the next page

It was a good turnout event with lots of presents. They also included a raffle of many items to give away for the donations. It looks like they received hundreds of gifts. Thanksgiving is our excuse to step away from noise. While most people settle into ovens and football games, we head for a national park and let the day breathe. It resets the system. There are no pressure or expectations, and the only schedule is daylight. After a day of cold air and quiet trails, we started toward home with that comfortable kind of tired that comes from being outside too long. Somewhere near Laton, I made a wrong turn. It wasn’t dramatic, and I didn’t slam on the brakes or curse the navigation. I just happened to take a turn onto a road I didn’t intend to use, and we stayed on it because there was no reason to correct it. It was a gray-blue afternoon, with the sun pushing through without ever really shining. The tule fog wasn’t fully settled
or lifted, sitting in a hazy in-between that made the colors look muted and dull. I noticed a flagpole in a field, an American flag at the top, POW MIA underneath. There was nothing marking an entrance or trying to pull attention. There’s nothing to look for, and it’s easy to drive right past. Two flags against a big stretch of sky were enough to make me curious, so we slowed down to find the driveway and pulled in. We stumbled into Oak Grove Cemetery and Veterans Memorial. I’d never heard of it before. It isn’t something you see in brochures or visitor guides. Nobody offers tours. There are no souvenir stands or dramatic archways waiting at the entrance. This isn’t San Francisco’s manicured national cemetery, and it isn’t Arlington with perfect rows Continued on the next page

and ceremonial precision. It’s smaller and quieter than that, but no less legitimate. The pavement shows age, and the grass reflects time. Any repairs out here come from local hands, and the grounds stay clean because people care enough to keep them that way. The flower beds reflect the same thing: roses that could use trimming and mulch thin enough to show some barrier underneath, but still clearly tended. People do what they can when they can. That effort matters more than polish. The markers are black stone, engraved with white pressed into the cuts. There are no ranks listed, no service histories, and nothing explaining who fought where. The names alone say someone served, someone mattered, and someone chose to mark it. A small cannon stands near the markers, showing its age but placed with intention. Standing there, I felt respect for the humble pride in the place. It shows effort and tending, doing a lot with limited resources. The fact
that a full memorial sits in the middle of nowhere says something on its own.

are interred here, and records show a wide span of names connected to the area.
These facts reinforce Oak Grove matters to the people who live around it and something that felt true in to anyone who recognizes the names on those stones. The appeal isn’t in polish or landscaping. It’s a small memorial on open ground because someone decided service deserved a marker. People handle remembrance differently, and each approach serves its purpose. Some gather on holidays and hold structured Memorial Day ceremonies. Others rely on a name carved into a dark stone to carry the memory. Enlisting is a commitment that says, “for those I love, I will,” and that choice is worth recording. Service is sacrifice, and the person who stepped forward deserves to be seen. We took the wrong road. We ended up somewhere we didn’t plan. And it felt right. While deeper historical details about when the cemetery was first established aren’t prominent, what’s clear is that this is a living community cemetery. People born in the early 1900s through recent decades
person: it’s rooted in daily life, not in tourist brochures, and its simple presence is built by the people who have been here for generations.

5 Diamonds Fresno Richard Tilley & Secretary 5 Diamonds Fresno WRITERS Unfortunately, I am not able to attend events and such much anymore because of my health, and I am grateful I have folks who send me some information so that we can still share good things that Bikers do for others. In a heartwarming display of Community Spirit, the local members of the motorcycle club called 5 Diamonds on Saturday, December 13th hosted their annual toy drive to collect donations for those in need. Instead of partnering with the traditional Toys for Tots program, which is typically ran by the Marine Crops. The 5 Diamonds directed their considerable haul of toys and funds to the nearby Valley Children’s Hospital. 5 Diamonds split the toys collected with Toy for Tots and Valley Children’s Hospital. The Hospital Child Life department gratefully accepts such donations to ensure that all Pediatric patients, especially those enduring extended stays or difficult treatments during the holiday season, receive a gift to help bring comfort and promote healing. This generous initiative highlights the club’s commitment to making a direct and positive impact within their immediate community, specifically benefiting the young patients at the hospital. From the pictures that were shared for me to use, you can see there was a huge crowd there showing the love and support of the 5 Diamonds. You can see the kids out there having fun as well. I am just sad; I was not able to attend this year. Continued on the next page

It all feels easy. If you aren’t paying attention, miles like that give you a sense of safety. No traffic. No towns. Nothing to navigate. Just open road
