This project was created by a team of three and served as our first large‑scale site in the academic studio setting. Our masterplan design responded to the land’s natural shape, soil conditions, and a significant wetland buffer. We organized the entire site into clear zones connected by pathways that guide movement through the landscape.
We implemented a boardwalk system through the wetlands so that people could walk through those areas, as well as implementing rest stops, and a dedicated meadow/lawn area for gathering and community.

Our focus area placed importance on creating a flexible space for UMass’s student activity clubs. There are quite a few clubs at UMass that promote physical activity, and not a lot of spaces that support these clubs. In the focus site, there is a natural playground, seating areas, a wide open space for gathering purposes, and a pump track. There is also a lookout deck at the site’s high point, which encourages students to stargaze/ use stargazing equipment.

All 4 perspectives were rendered in a digital painting format. I believed that in a residential context, clients would like to see the beauty in artistic representations of their future homes, which is why I chose to “paint” my plans, sections, and perspectives.
