FALCON FAMILY NEWS A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT “You can perform miracles by touching the hearts of those entrusted to your care.” St. John Baptist de La Salle

Dear Families, As I write this letter, teachers are preparing students for AP tests and finals, staff members are finalizing graduation plans after a fun-filled spirit week, spring sports are celebrating senior nights, and I imagine that our students are counting down the days until summer vacation. For many, this will be their last true summer with friends and family before starting a new adventure—be it college, career, or life. This school year has gone by in a flash, much like those before it. We made a full return to campus, activities, and events for the first time since the pandemic began in 2020. Community, which is an essential part of our Lasallian Catholic identity, is once again at the forefront of the Christian Brothers experience. Our dedicated faculty, staff, and administrators have worked tirelessly to ensure that students and families are seen and supported throughout their educational journey. The class of 2023 played a big role this year in reviving the student culture on campus. Thanks to them and the Lasallian Student Life Office, we’ve experienced vibrant student events filled with music, laughter, great food, entertainment, and fellowship. Our philanthropy team also successfully engaged alumni, friends, and supporters through many community events and opportunities, like our first-ever Falcon Family Night Out that included the La Salle Art Show, an international celebration, the men’s and women’s lacrosse team senior nights, and capped off with a showing of “The Sandlot” on the main lawn. We are truly blessed with a team committed to making CB the place to be and belong. Moreover, thanks to our phenomenal faculty, staff, and administrators we have thrived through a challenging leadership transition this year. We thank Mr. Julian Elorduy ’03 for stepping up to serve as interim principal, and Mr. Rolf Schumann and Mr. Tom English for returning to CB this year to support the administrative team. We look forward to officially welcoming Dr. David Perry as our new principal this summer. He is eager to share his dedication to Catholic education, passion for our Lasallian charism, and love of our incredible community as we build upon the tradition of excellence here at Christian Brothers.

As we do so, I hope that you had an opportunity to look over our five-year strategic plan, which was shared on Sunday, April 30, to coincide with the birth of our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle. A Vision for Our Future is a roadmap to ensure the sustainability of Lasallian Catholic education in Sacramento. With nine strategic goals, key objectives, and measurable action items, this plan will hold us accountable, stay true to our mission, and ensure CB is not only the place to be but also to belong. While other schools promote exclusivity, we honor our Founder with goals rooted in inclusivity. You can learn more about this bold and exciting plan on our website. We thank everyone who joined in the important work of Educational Visioning, and we look forward to continuing to work together to make this vision a reality. May also marks the Solemnity of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. Per tradition, we will celebrate Founder’s Day with a Founder’s Mass, honor the Lasallian Educator of the Year, and host festive celebrations for our students, faculty, and staff. We are also bringing back a day of giving. Founder’s Day of Giving will be held on May 19, giving all members of our community a chance to come together to make a positive impact in the lives of our students. Save the date for May 19, and in the meantime, learn more on our website. This has been an incredible year, and I am grateful for the blessing of your partnership in preparing your sons and daughters for success in college and life. It is an immense privilege to serve as your president and to work in partnership with the faculty and staff to prepare our students for their bright futures.

Live Jesus in our hearts!

Crystal LeRoy, Ed.D. President
