A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Dear Families,
As our 150th year of Lasallian Catholic education in Sacramento comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude for all that this remarkable milestone holds. Over the past nine months, we have witnessed our students grow in faith, in the classroom, as artists, athletes, and in service to others This anniversary year invited us to honor our past, celebrate the present, and recommit ourselves to the mission that calls us to boldly transform the future for our young men and women.
When I pause to consider how this extraordinary legacy is even possible, I am drawn back to the words of Peter E Mitchell, Class of 1918, who began attending Christian Brothers College in 1907:
“The Christian Brothers College of 1907–1918 did not really consist of the aging, cramped building, nor even the curriculum. It came alive in the dedicated, humble and holy men who wore the loose black robe and white winged collar, the Christian Brothers of De La Salle Their forthright, honest goodness etched on my memory Students of that period certainly owe them a lot of gratitude There were no formal lessons of ‘Charity does not exist alone in giving alms,’ or ‘Do unto others as you would have them do to you’ you met these values in real men…”
Christian Brothers High School was built on a foundation of educating and caring for young people, a mission that reaches back 150 years here in Sacramento and more than 345 years to St John Baptist de La Salle in France. While today’s educators may no longer wear black robes and white winged collars, the heart of the Lasallian mission endures. Our students continue to “meet these values” in faculty and staff who challenge them academically, inspire them to serve others, encourage them to discover new talents, and appreciate them for exactly who they are
I am grateful that Cecilia Powers accepted our offer to officially serve as principal. Her leadership, vision, and deep commitment to Lasallian Catholic education strengthen an already solid foundation and signal a hopeful new chapter in our shared mission.
This year also tested our community as we mourned the loss of a beloved student, Jaden DeJesus Eves. His passing leaves a lasting imprint on our hearts. In our grief, we came together as a Lasallian community, united in faith and sustained by hope and love. Our prayers continue for Jaden and his family as they face this unimaginable loss.
It is in moments like these that we are reminded of the profound strength of our community and the importance of walking together, especially in times of sorrow. We are deeply grateful to the families who partner with us in the education of your children. Your trust, presence, and collaboration make all the difference Yes, this was a remarkable year, but more than that, it was a powerful reminder of who we are and what endures Rooted in faith and strengthened by community, Christian Brothers High School stands ready for the next 150 years

COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
SUMMER IS STILL A TIME FOR ACTION: The counselors would like to remind students and parents that summertime is a good time to continue college planning and academic preparation. Studies have continued to show that students who are involved in structured, productive activities in the summer are less likely to engage in at-risk behaviors. Busy, involved, goal-oriented students who are working on academic pursuits, athletics, a summer job, community service or enrichment activities are better prepared for the rest of high school and for college In addition to the many outside summer program opportunities available, consider CB’s own Summer School Program (check out the link on CB’s homepage for our summer programs), and there are several other things that students should be doing this summer:
All Students: Remember to spend time this summer completing your summer reading assignments!!!
Freshmen: Log into your Scoir account and update your Activities and Achievements (Resume).
Sophomores: Update your Activities and Achievements (Resume) and check out the Career Interest Assessment in Scoir. Utilize free online SAT and ACT prep opportunities to start planning for the PSAT/NMSQT, which will be given in October. See the counseling website to find out about College Summer Programs.
Juniors: A checklist of reminders: May/June
You may start prepping for the SAT/ACT for schools that require the exams or see if they are test optional Plan for a challenging senior year If you want to make course changes other than what you pre-registered for, please contact Mr. Purdy ASAP.
Update your Resume on Scoir and finish any other suggested activities including Summer
Complete summer “homework” for college admission (distributed soon by Ms. McClellan and Ms. Shenk-Tiffany and is on the Class of 2027 Schoology Page) – This is due the first day of school in August!
Check commonapp org and other college admissions websites for dates when colleges begin accepting applications (the Common App opens over the summer and the UC App will open August 1 ).st
Start checking out financial aid and scholarship resources and continue this throughout the summer. Try www.fastweb.com or www finaid com Next fall will be very busy with your classes, college applications and other activities that you are participating in, so “down-time” in the summer is the perfect time to seek out these opportunities
Begin drafting your college essay (part of your summer “homework”).
Log on to Scoir to research colleges and career opportunities and visit colleges if you can
Do something extraordinary! Try a summer program on a college campus (we have a list on the Counseling website), work at a job, or complete a service activity.
Seniors: A checklist of reminders:

You must submit your acceptance (“Statement of Intent to Register”) to the college you have chosen to attend by MAY 1. Congratulate yourself but finish strong!
Go to Scoir by May 1 and list the colleges where you were admitted and where you have decided to enroll st Fill out college housing forms and pay careful attention to deadlines concerning housing deposits, etc.
Write “Thanks, but no thanks” letters to colleges you will not attend E-mailing them is OK Ask Ms McClellan or Ms ShenkTiffany on how to do that if you don’t already know how Information on ordering final transcripts will be given during graduation practice.

Make sure you have responded to all requests from your college of choice Don't forget to thank your teachers, counselors, the registrar, etc. for all of their help over the past four years!
IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE “D” OR “F” SEMESTER GRADES:
All semester F’s must be remediated during the summer in our Christian Brothers’ Summer School. Any semester F’s by seniors will cause you to not receive the CB diploma that you have worked for over four years. Semester D’s could put a student in jeopardy of not being eligible for 4-year colleges and universities immediately after high school We strongly suggest that D’s be remediated in the summer! (If you have any questions regarding the need for taking these courses or the consequences of not taking them, please see the “CB Course Catalog” on the school website and/or contact your child’s grade-level counselor).
CB’S SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDES EXCELLENT OPTIONS FOR STUDENTS: Our summer school program at CB provides excellent opportunities to accelerate a student’s curriculum goals or to provide schedule relief next year and allow for a study hall one or both semesters. Please view the courses that will be offered this summer on the school website (https://www cbhs-sacramento org/summer-school-2/) or see your counselor to discuss your options
COUNSELING ISSUES ARISING OVER THE SUMMER: All counselors (grade-level, college and wellness) will be checking email on a weekly basis. Should any issues arise that require counseling and/or an outside referral please reach out to us or contact the main office and they can get us a message We want to continue to help our students and parents during the summer break
The spring play, Epiphany, had a successful run in April! Congratulations to the cast and crew on another amazing production
The CB Band program closed out the evening with some wonderful performances for their spring concert. Congratulations to the seniors on their last CB performance!

The Christian Brothers Community came together to celebrate the birthday of our founder, St. John Baptist de LaSalle with the final all-community liturgy of the school year.
GRADUATION INFORMATION
Senior families, be sure to check your inbox for a letter from graduation coordinator, Mrs. Erin Hanshew, regarding all things graduation.
Student club, Leis 4 Love, is selling graduation leis. Each lei is student-made and will be available for pickup at the CB Graduation Luncheon. The proceeds will go to support our Twin School, and each lei will cost $15

Please note the following important information concerning the upcoming athletic year: All athletes must have the Final Forms athletic medical clearance with a valid physical prior to any participation in summer athletics. To find the Final Forms information, please go to the CB website. An email will be sent to all families regarding how to register for the 2026-2027 school year. FinalForms will be open for sport signups for the 2026-2027 season on June 1, 2026.
Congratulations to the entire CB Athletics Program to every team and individual Athlete who qualified for the CIF SJS post season playoffs for the 2026-2027 season. Five teams qualified and competed in CIF SJS Section Championships, and the Cross-Country team went to the CIF State Meet in November. The CB flag football team, women’s water polo team, and the women’s Volleyball team were the CIF SJS Section Champions for Division Three. The women’s basketball team was the CIF SJS Section Champion for Division Two. Jackson Levasseur ’26 was the D4 Cross Country Champion.
The Christian Brothers Athletic Department celebrated the official college signing day for our senior student-athletes signing NCAA National Letters of Intent. The following athletes signed:
