WELCOME welcome

It’s that time of year again.... Don’t miss the event of the year, Wish List Weekend!

On behalf of the Gelbvieh Association of Alberta & BC, welcome to the 2025 Wish List weekend. This is the 18th Annual Wish List Sale, and although we have made some tweaks and changes over the years, this weekend has remained steadfast in its camaraderie and shared passion for our breed.

The board has worked hard to organize a spectacular event in conjunction with the Canadian People’s Choice Bull Futurity. These two events working in unison continue to be mutually beneficial for all breeders and buyers. We would like to thank Aaron for his past several years of organizing the futurity and look forward to working with the succession team, who will continue this great program.

As we approach the holiday season, we take a moment to reflect on the year, and it’s a great time to be in the beef industry. Cattle prices are holding steady, and we’re seeing a return on the endless hard work that goes into getting these cattle to the auction block. Now is the time to invest in quality and new genetics. This sale provides the opportunity for just that from a wide variety of producers. We would like to thank returning consignors who continue to support this sale with top females year to year, and would like to welcome the new consignors! Our breed has made tremendous leaps over the past couple of years in gaining new members, and it’s great to see them bringing ones to town.

Last but certainly not least, we would like to thank Twin View Livestock for their generous donation of the heifer this year. She is an absolute sweetheart and will make one lucky winner very happy! We first got to see her out at the Junior Gelbvieh show this summer, and we have become more excited each time we see her!

Please join us in person for a great weekend of bulls, females, socializing and a delicious lunch on Saturday, sponsored by Keriness Cattle Co.

Olivia Koziak Gelbvieh Association of ABBC, President

BNH NEWBERRY 18N

Newberry is a sweet made hetero black, homo polled heifer calf that is bred from consistency and quality. A heifer calf that comes from lines that have stood the test of time at BNH and we can confidently stand behind. Her dam, Kiwi, is a JRI Secretariat daughter. These females have proven to be moderate, productive and phenotypically correct. They are solid footed, beautiful uddered and deep ribbed. Newberry is the first female out of BNC National K2129 that we have offered for sale and we are proud of the genetic package that she has to offer. National is a bull that many breeders have appreciated from day one for his incredible growth, softness of rib and spread from birth to weaning. We have been thrilled to see these same traits being translated to his offspring. Newberry is a combination of consistency, docility, performance and maternal strength in one package. She is sure to fit any situation, whether that be your next foundation female line, junior project, donor cow or just being a front pasture cow.

We purchased Sweet Pea at the Hillsdown Dispersal with high hopes. She hasn’t disappointed!!! Her son from Detonator is junior herdsire here and now this….Sweet Karolyne! Matched with our High Road sire to give an interesting and exciting combination of Hillsdown Finnegan and SLC Roadtrip, and Home Brew, all very well known sires in the Gelbvieh world. Karolyne features a smaller frame, a well balanced profile, and a gentle attitude.

Sing along, from the sales ring to your trailer to your next big hit for a long career in your pasture….. SWEET KAROLYNE…ba ba ba ba

lot 3 CK NAKEETA 90N

CK Nakeeta 90N is an eye appealing, deep sided red heifer out of BNHC Krakatoa 11K. We all know Krakatoa from his Championships alongside his famous dam Jen Ty Hot Stuff 550H. Together Krakatoa and Hot Stuff won many banners throughout their show careers. Hot Stuff 550H was ORB Miss World 2023 and 2023 National Champion Female! Krakatoa’s sire - JRI Secretariat 285E78 is also a well-known bull with some impressive offspring. Nakeeta’s stacked pedigree along with her natural thickness and depth, would make her a great 4H heifer prospect who could go on to win many show banners just like her sire and Grandsire! Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to own one of Krakatoa’s daughters and Hot Stuff’s granddaughters. Make sure that you take a look at Nakeeta 90N on Sale Day!

Nancy is a very well minded, attractive female with sound structure and good bone. She is out of our proven Simmental sire, BPR Khaos 911K, whose calves are soft made and easy fleshing, wrapped in eye appeal. Her dam, FRSQ Foursquare Ms Bertha 98G, is a big broody female that completes this cross with the calving ease, solid foot structure, a great udder and exceptional milk production. If you are looking for a strong maternal addition to your herd or an outstanding junior project packed with easy fleshing, maternal soundness and eye appeal, Nancy is your heifer.

Here’s an easy on the eyes heifer we’re pleased to offer up. I may have made the mistake of picking a couple heifers right off the top of our pen this year but that’s to your benefit! I had a lot of admiration for her grandsire, Heavy Metal at Sommerfelds and when Ryan brought Back in Black down to the futurity a couple of years ago I felt he would compliment our program ideally. This first crop of calves are proving that out, we are very impressed with the quality of them across the board and this is potentially the best heifer of the bunch. On the bottom side of her pedigree she comes from Dice and a very proven Buckaneer daughter like all our best ones seem to. She comes loaded with a useable set of EPDs and will produce some great calves in her career.

CK Nala 54N is a fancy, clean fronted, shiny black heifer out of BNC National K2129 and an SLC Swagger 195C daughter – CK Hilda 20H. Hilda 20H has produced three impressive females for us. We retained one that continues to do a great job in our herd and made the decision to part with anotherCK Kala 71K at the Wishlist sale as a bred heifer two years ago. Nala 54N is equally as good, and we are excited to see what her future holds! Nala’s sire – BNC National K2129 is a bull that you cannot help but be impressed by. Take a look at his top of the charts growth and milk EPDs. National has a WW EPD of 100 and YW of 148! His docile temperament, massive depth of rib and extreme thickness all carry through to his progeny. He is doing an amazing job both at Brittain Farms and BNH Livestock and continues to breed over 60 cows each season without losing a pound. If you want a piece of this impressive bull, Nala 54N is your chance to create another one just like National!

Sire

I probably said this last year but it bares saying again; the quality of Knockouts dam was what sealed the deal for us to use him in our breeding program. So far we are seeing this to be true as this broody heifer patterns right along the lines we are seeing from the Knockout females. Her sisters make up over half of our bred pen this year and they are the most consistent group of replacements we have built to date. Unger Land and Livestock picked her sister up from the Wish List last year and have good reports on her development. Her mother, the Cricket cow is exactly the right size and shape I want to be building around, all the calves she has produced for us have gone to work with 3 bulls selling out of our yard, a powerhouse daughter making her own mark in our herd and another at a new breeder’s down the road. I’m confident Nevada will work well no matter how you choose to breed her, she could produce some great selling heifer bulls with her calving ease profile or moderate a power bull, just a solid, easy-doing female, we all need more of those!

Born on Valentine’s Day, TRS Valentine 1N lives up to her name — she’s one you’ll fall in love with fast. Her dam, GCC Val, was a standout heifer purchased right out of the Wish List 2 years ago, and she has more than proven her worth in production. Paired with AWB Twin View Exception 62L, this mating hit the mark, combining femininity, structure, and eye appeal with the maternal strength and longevity the Gelbvieh breed is known for. As first time consigners to the Wish List, we’re proud to offer a type of heifer we strive to raise: functional, attractive, and built to work.

Ledgerwood Nellie 548N embodies the great traits of the Gelbvieh breed. She is ultra-feminine, has a gorgeous head, super docile, huge ribbed, with plenty of growth and muscle. Her sire came from Covington Gelbvieh and while his first calf crop was small, they are sure standing tall in both the bull and replacement pens. Mr 382L is a son of the widely used Franchise bull and is backed by the Jo-Leen cow family that is showing up consistently in top-end pedigrees. On Nellies dam side you will find the Hojer program. Mr Hojer 447B recorded 128 natural progeny over 6 breeding seasons and was one of the best female makers I have walked. His dam was a 4 time dam of distinction for the Hojer Ranch and Astro recorded over 1000 progeny. Longevity and productivity are breeding true with power in the blood.

KLC LADY SPICE 37N

Consigned By: Koziak Land & Cattle

KLC 37N has history threaded through her genes. Dam JNA 215G ET was purchased from the 2019 wish list sale. 215G has “knocked it out of the park” with two daughters in production and two bulls qualifying for our annual sale. This productive cow family has proven to work in multiple herds and maintain the ideal characteristics in replacement females and develop future herdsires. The top of the pedigree goes back to Olivia’s first set of tattoo letters, ORM Excalibur 158N. Excalibur has proven to calf easily and permit rapid growth. We admire his daughters, who are lowmaintenance, hard-working, and long-term cows. 37N has the added frame and stretch that will make her very easy to place in a breeding program. She has a solid food under her with a beautiful udder placement.

Fleshy, meaty, small framed, lots of hair, inquisitive cute heifer, that is going through leggy growth spurt at time of pictures. ‘Little Nermal’ is sire by ‘JEN-TY Home Wrecker 61J that was in the final top 6 at the 2021 Canadian Bull Futurity.

Jen-Ty Black Beauty 191N is just a sweet balancer female. She has a resume that is stacked with all the right components to make an easy doing foundation female for any program. Her dam Jen-Ty Chick 621J has loads of thickness that stems back to her sire VV Craftsman 23C. Black Beauty’s sire KT Bravo 1032H is one of those volumous bulls that stamp every calf. We know this female will have a great future ahead of her.

By:

This classy female has that stand out eye appeal that you notice as soon as you see her, well balanced with loads of thickness and depth to make a tremendous stand out broody female. You have to really appreciate her EPDs. Her dam Jen-Ty Addy 605A is one of our top Chilli 451Y dams, she has had 11 calves so far in her life span and only 3 have been heifers, so to sell this girl was a hard decision. Jitter Bug is sired by KT Bravo 1032H who is just a tank, we just love all the calves he has produced. We have the up most confidence that this female will be a great addition to any program.

Here is a May-born heifer that is bred to calve in February, a testament to her early puberty and fertility. She was only A.I. bred once with no exposure. The May 8th service to the well-known ALL AMERICAN bull should make the first coupon a profitable one, and then your breeding options should be endless. Our Mauve line of females all have a bit more volume, combine this with an elegant front third, and you have the makings of a herd matron. With EPD numbers in the top 20% for weaning and top 10% for yearling, growth should not be an issue. Her young Taylormade dam has a beautiful udder. Homo Polled and Hetero Black.

Consigned By:

Machine Made is a heifer that will outproduce herself. Her sire SLL Hagan is a strong production bull that throws length, rib and strong hip. Her dam is a very maternal cow with a high and tight udder and feminine head. This cross has struck twice for us as she had a full brother that made the bull pen this year that weaned at 754 pounds. Machine has been Biopryn preg tested in calf to her AI service of the incredible calving ease sire Hillsdown Earthquake expected January 13th. She was also pasture exposed to SLF 2M Silverline Moovin Money, a son of Hillsdown Earthquake.

Moon Beam is a “scratches in the pasture” quiet kind of heifer. Her sire RTG Hustler is one of our strong production feature bulls and her dam is an easy calving cow with great maternal strength and a near perfect udder. Her dam has raised 5 heifers of which 4 are in our herd producing even more great heifers. This is your opportunity to acquire maternal strength that will outproduce expectations. Moon Beam was Biopryn preg tested in calf to her AI service of the incredible calving ease sire Hillsdown Earthquake expected to calve January 13th. She was also pasture exposed to SLF 2M Silverline Moovin Money, a son of Hillsdown Earthquake.

If there was one word we would use to describe Penelope, it would be “balanced.” She might not grab your attention right away- but when you circle back and analyse her- she’s one pretty hard to put a hole in. Is she going to be the biggest, most powerful bred you’ll come across this fall? No. But she’s certainly not small and frail either. Is she super fancy? Not overly. But shes still feminine and reeks of brood cow potential. Penelope is bred way along to our new herd sire- Livin the Dream- and appears to be a dropping a super neat, tidy udder. Just like her mom. We think her calf could be something special. We appreciate Livin the Dream for his foot quality and soundness on the move, his deep red colour, and impressive muscle pattern. His proven dam being a National Champion herself doesn’t hurt either. We feel Penelope checks a lot boxes and hope you appreciate what a breeding piece she could be for your operation come sale day.

The decision to offer this year’s GAA/BC donation heifer was an easy one for us. We are big fans of the work being done by the association! We applaud and support their efforts to bring people together, to support juniors and to host the only association run Gelbvieh sale. The hardworking team behind the Wishlist Weekend and Farmfair have our complete support. If we can further their efforts by offering AWB Twin View Savanna 63N, we are pleased to do so!

Savanna is from the first calf crop by Iconic. He sees walking duties here at Twin View and is a direct son of the great Sugar 26F. We said from the start he was bred to be an elite female maker and he has taken the task to heart. He sired a high percentage of females and they’re an absolutely beautiful set of heifer calves. An Iconic daughter was Calf Champion at the CJGA show this summer and another was a feature in Function and Finesse. The few bull calves Iconic did sire will be very well accepted next spring too! The Savanna cow family has a track record built on honest, hard working mama cows. As an added bonus, Savanna has perhaps the sweetest disposition we’ve worked with and she was shown at the Junior Show this summer.

2024 WINNERS

My name is Brantley Horn, When I heard the breeders purse announced, I was ecstatic. I could not believe that I won after my sister won it twice in a row. At the sale, in the end, I came out with a nice Jen-Ty heifer. This heifer is going to be used as one of my show heifers. I can’t say how thankful I am to the Gelbvieh breed and all the supporters that made this happen.

My name is Hannah McCracken. When I won my $1625 sale credit I couldn’t believe it and was quick to pick out my favorites in the catalogue! The 2024 Wishlist sale was the second time we went to the Wishlist sale in person, and we hope to make it a tradition to go every year. I ended up buying a heifer that caught my eye right away, JNA Spice Girl 83M from Pearson farms. I had seen this heifer before, at Farmfair, and fell in love with her right away. Without a doubt I’d like to thank the members of the AB/BC Gelbvieh association who sponsored the sale credit. Spice girl is fitting into our herd nicely and I’m so excited to show her in 4-H and any summer shows that come our way!

100 SILVERLINE NEOLYTHIC 27N

Neolythic is a late born calf that is thick, long and has shown great muscle expression at a very early age. His sire Hillsdown Scout is a son of Hillsdown Finnigan out of our 2025 dam of distinction cow Harper Lee 28D. Neolythic’s dam Silverline Jaybird is a strong production cow. Neolythic did not stand out in our bull pen this fall until we realized that this April 1st calf had caught up to many of our January born calves.

The dam JLSL Ledgerwood Kaela 275K, sired by JLSL True Grit 9164G, was purchased at Function and Finesse 5.0. We appreciate Kaela for her gentle disposition, nice udder and excellent feet. We believe this is a calf that deserves a real good look. He easily catches your eye in the pasture with his balanced design and herd bull look. Deep sided and effortless on the move , this All American son checks a lot of boxes including calving ease with his modest 77lb bw and above average epd. Dig into his bottom side pedigree and you’ll find names like Seminole Wind , EC , Kittys Dream and Lonesome Hall of Fame.

When we were getting started with our breeding program, 14H was a heifer which caught our eye early on and stood out from her peers. As time went on I noticed a trend as our other two 91Z daughters also delivered top quality calves year after year, such as a black bull we brought to the futurity a couple of years ago or some outstanding heifers we have been building around in our herd. We lost 91Z before I could maximize her impact but the mark she left behind is noticeable, this bull’s dam and her sisters are among our top cows, they’re great moms, have the right balance of depth and stature for my liking and are probably the quietest cows in our herd. One goal with breeding to 44L was to bring 14H’s EPDs a bit away from the extremes but 29N still packs some solid numbers to put pounds on calves and backed by generations of great cows, he’ll leave an exceptional stamp on whichever breeding program he enters.

Ledgerwood Niko 588N has a jaw dropping pedigree and epd profile. Some of the greats in the breed, Frontrunner, Carolina Leverage, The Boxer, Mayweather, Granite 200P, and Atlas are stacked with some of the most exceptional cows that the breed has offered. His epds boost 12 traits in the top 25% of the breed with growth and carcass traits in the lead. His ultramoderate dam is quickly adding value, starting as a class winner at the NILE and then her first son made the cover of our catalog and was a high seller. Niko is big boned and impressive in his top shape yet maintains smoothness to his shoulder and skull structure. Niko grabbed my attention when he hit the ground and we know you will find him impressive as well.

106 LEDGERWOOD NOBEL 531N ET

Ledgerwood Nobel 531N ET is the result of a mating that is nothing short of proven. Chico Loco needs no introduction, a muscle game changer with an outcross pedigree. Phoenix is a cow that has been nothing short of impressive in her career as well. She now has 29 registered progeny and many more in the tank. She is one of the most consistent cows I have had the pleasure of owning and stamps her progeny with a ton of middle, a beautiful Gelbvieh head, and an overall skeletal softness. Nobel is no different; he is chalked full of muscle, deep in his fore rib, and very masculine. From birth Nobel has been on our radar, grab him and make a noble advancement in your herd.

It is a rare opportunity in the cattle industry to find that herdsire that is truly a breed changer and will take your program to the next level. We were able to find that in BNC National K2129, Marvel 10M’s sire. This bull has been a show stopper since the moment we saw him and has continued to surpass any expectations, creating offspring that are flat out good. They are big ribbed, sound footed, thick made and smooth in their makeup. Marvel is a true display of these genetics and we are excited for what he has to offer to the industry. He comes from a sweet fronted little cow that puts it all into her calves. She is big hipped, moderate framed and incredibly productive. Marvel ranks in the top 1-3% of the breed for growth and milking ability, with an 86WW EPD, 123YW, 29Milk and 72TM. We truly think that he may be the next, up and coming, red version of his sire, National. Take a good look at Marvel as he may be the key to take your program to the next level.
