Golden Sunset 4-H Beef Club Golden Sunset 4-H Beef Club

Golden Sunset continues to flourish with 31 members this year and over 40 beef projects. Our members are learning how to feed cattle for gain, monitor their health, and how to halter break and show their animals as well as judging, and marketing their projects. At our Achievement Day, market steers will be shown and auctioned off, carcass projects will have been finished and graded earlier in the year and results will be on display. There will be a female show which will include yearling heifers as well as 2 and 3 year old cow calf pairs. These females will be shown but not for sale as they stay to grow the members' herd. Now, in its 61st year, we have introduced a small engines project with many members participating. Golden Sunset continues to be active in the community through fundraising to support local community groups, and through volunteerism at community events and businesses. Our members have prepared and presented many workshops for our club to help other members expand their understanding on a variety of topics, from cattle health, to judging and public speaking. Our members have participated in many district and regional events including 4-H Day at Farmfair, Regional Fair, summer camps, 4-H Exchange as well as Symposium. Our members have worked towards achieving their individual goals for their projects as well as themselves. They have worked hard all year and are very grateful for the continued support of our buyers, our community and our families. We hope to see you at the Achievement Day show and sale. Even if you aren’t coming out to purchase an animal, if you are able, we encourage you to come out to support our members and witness the results of all the hard work they put into these projects throughout the year. Sunniebend 4-H Club Sunniebend 4-H Club

Hello and Welcome!

Our club has been operating as a multi-club for the last two years and before that we had a rich history as a beef club. It is our club's 55th year. This year our club maintained the beef, sheep, vet sciences, small engines and cooking projects, with hopes of running welding, archery, canine, and possibly swine next year. Our club consists of 17 members and 2 cleavers. We have worked hard and learned so much this year!

Our club hosted our public speaking event on Jan. 31st. We have had multiple fundraisers such as our bottle drive in April. We are active in our community, whether by volunteering at the Hazel Bluff Hall, in the Westlock Parade, cleaning up after the Ag Fair or cleaning up the side of the highway, we were always out and about! Our club is presenting their projects on multiple occasions from our Lifeskills Achievement Day and 4-H Showcase on May 9th at the Westlock Ag Barn, Sheep Achievement Day on May 25th at the Barrhead Ag Barn, or as we welcome all, to our Beef Show and Sale on May 31st and June 1st. Our club would like to thank our sponsors who made our year possible, our buyers who support our members' livestock projects (we are so grateful!), our parents who woke us in the wee hours of the morning for chores or drove us half way across the county. Our volunteers, who taught our members and made our year possible. Finally our leaders, our beef leaders Carlie and Clinton, thank you for your time and unfaltering leadership, Sarah and Kevin, thank you for letting us use your farm on multiple occasions, and Colleen for helping run our club. Thank you to everyone, for your precious time and energy so our members can succeed.

Our Beef members have learned a lot this year, from grooming and showmanship workshops, a feedlot and nutrition talk with Golden Sunset Beef 4-H, and a significant amount of judging. Our cleavers will be showing a calf born in 2026, and the rest of our members will be showing steers born in 2025, and females from 2023-2025. We have 6 cow/calf pairs, 3 heifers, and 11 steers. Our club also had one carcass project. Our members have been working hard, feeding, watering, halter breaking and bedding since October and are excited to see their toil and tears finally pay off. We cannot wait for Achievement Day and cannot wait to see you there too!

The Double Diamond Club is proud to celebrate 54 years of promoting youth development, responsibility, and agriculture through hands-on learning in the 4-H program. In 2026, our club has 35 members, in the following projects: Horse, Beef, Vet Science, Small Engines, & Canine. We have 13 dedicated beef members. In addition to market steer projects, members are actively involved in heifer and cow-calf pair projects.

Throughout the year, our members have participated in workshops focused on regional & provincial judging, grooming, animal nutrition, public speaking, and record keeping - building skills that extend far beyond the show ring.

Each member has invested countless hours raising, training, and caring for their animals in preparation for Achievement Day - the highlight of their year. This is where their hard work comes together as they proudly showcase and sell their 4-H steers.
