Twin View Livestock Bull Sale - At the Ranch, Parkbeg SK

Page 1

Welcome

We are proud and so excited to welcome you to our annual bull sale! We work everyday to create the best offering of Gelbvieh genetics possible. The reality is, this group of bulls is over 20 years in the making. Developing the cowherd we want is a lifetime’s work and we’re here for the long haul. These cattle are what we do!

More than ever, it’s pretty easy to be optimistic and go about the day to day work of raising cattle with some pep in your step. Demand for high quality beef has never been higher and the price point for cattle matches that demand. These are exciting times! With that excitement comes an increased responsibility to create the product the world demands. That is the work we take on every day. Better cattle, improved structure, more beef.

Our program revolves around the mother cow. The strength of our cowherd is built with consistent, unrelenting expectations. The fundamentals of a Twin View female are always the same - feet, udders and maternal ability. With those pieces in check, we’re able to incorporate different sires and trust our mother cows will keep us on the right path. Each sire we use is assessed first and foremost by his mother. You will see the same cow family names again and again as you sort through our offering. We know that layering the best cows in the breed over and over further enhances our consistency.

Without a doubt, this is the most consistent and high quality group of bulls we’ve assembled. All summer and through the fall we found ourselves with new favourites each time we went through them. So much so that we added a bull to the show string in late September - something we never do! We are proud of the way we develop these bulls. This is such a critical stage of their growth that sets their path for life. We keep them fresh and on the move. Fat bulls don’t work in the long run despite being impressive at sale time. We continue to work with Trouw Nutrition using their 14% bull developer pellet with our own grass hay. The bulls get no silage at any point and we pail feed them. This puts us in amongst them twice a day all winter. We confidently stand behind their disposition and careful development.

We are here for you always, from now through sale time and well beyond. Investing in cattle at Twin View is the beginning of a relationship and that’s not something we take lightly. We want to know about your success. We want to know your family. And we’re honoured if we can play a small role in the way you grow those things. The cattle are the vehicle to the people!

We would be privileged to tour you through the bulls and the cowherd anytime at your convenience. March 11 is sale day but Twin View is always open to you. We hope to see you soon!

PRE-SALE LUNCH

Snacks and happy hour all day Tuesday. The greatest home cooked lunch will be served pre-sale on Wednesday. Thank you to Trouw Nutrition and FCC for their support.

CALVING EASE RATINGS

Many factors beyond birth weight influence calving ease. It takes a lot for us to confidently stamp a bull as a calving ease sire. We know our cows and we can only give our best estimate how a bull will work but here’s a few things we hope you consider.

PHENOTYPE - How the bull is constructed; Smooth shoulders, smaller and narrower skull, length of body and balance.

GENOTYPE - Genetics; A predictable and consistent pedigree for birth weight and calving ease. A bull is only half the genetic makeup of your calf crop.

GESTATION - Days from conception to birth. More days, more birth weight.

ENVIRONMENTAL - Weather and feed in the last 30 days of pregnancy. Colder weather increases blood flow in the mother and therefore more nutrition to the fetus. A 90 pound birthweight in April is likely much higher in colder months.

Calving Ease Rankings

1 - recommended for all females

2 - recommended for well developed heifers or young cows

3 - recommended for young or mature cows

4 - recommended for mature cows

5 - none available, these bulls are culled

Reference Sire, JEN BAR NONE J107ET

Bar None continues to produce cattle right for the times. They’re hairy, athletic, good looking and the right size. He’s produced multiple division champions, a National Champion and Farmfair Champions. His progeny have excelled in each arena we’ve put them in, particularly when it comes to pasture production. His daughters weaned their first calves last fall. They’re highly maternal, highly productive and so attractive. The cow we showed last fall was a daughter and was called ‘the best Gelbvieh female I’ve ever seen’ by a man we have a lot of respect for. His sons have muscle and density and structure. Bar None progeny have averaged over $15,000 because they are truly where the industry needs to be. Timeless and never replicated…Bar None!

UNIQUE LADY 27U, Granddam of Lot 1

THE BOXER, Grandsire to Many Lots

AWB Twin View Stone’s Throw 19N is one cool rascal who epitomizes power and pay weight. We’ve been admiring him all summer and short listed him for the show string last fall. There’s no denying the impact Bar None has made on our work and Stone’s Throw is a good example of why with added shape and dimension, sound construction and good nature all in one package. His dam excites us for the future since this is her first time at motherhood. She is an attractive, elegant and tremendous uddered young cow from the JSJ program. When they mated The Boxer to Unique Lady 27U we knew we had to have a daughter. Unique Lady cows are hard working and milky mama cows we really admire. Stone’s Throw will make an impact much like the heavy hitters who meet in his pedigree.

2

WICKED 27H, Full Sister to Dam of Lot 2

AWB Twin View Gold Coast 112N is a smooth shouldered, tidy skulled prospect with potential for the heifer pen. With just a 78 pound birthweight and a CE of 12 combined with a look that reads calving ease we believe he would work well there. He is the youngest bull in the group but he has kept up with his older counterparts. His Mayweather dam is among the tidiest uddered cows we own with tiny teats and tight suspension. She comes from the Wicked cow family who are consistently hard working females. If you wanted to tidy up some udders, make some mama cows and not compromise calving ease then Gold Coast is the bull for the job.

GAYLE 28L, Full Sister to Undisputed and Universal

Flushmate brothers from the great Bar None and the gorgeous Gracie Gayle 74H, Universal and Undisputed have each raised the bar and carved their own paths. As calves, we went back and forth over our pick. We chose to show Undisputed as a calf and he was undefeated with wins at Farmfair, Agribition and the Bull Futurity before being selected by Twin Bridge Farms. Universal topped our bull sale that spring to Goodview Gelbvieh. We agreed with Blair and Lori that he should go out that fall. He became the National Champion bull on his first outing. Both bulls have done an exceptional job in their first year of production, breeding true to their elite genetic makeup.

VALHALLA, Grandsire of Lots 3, 30

AWB Twin View Assured 18N is quite a bull with quite a story. He’s good natured, awesome footed and has substantial libido. His maternal sister topped Function and Finesse 6.0 before becoming Reserve Champion Female at Agribition as a heifer calf! This business has a way of humbling you like this summer when we lost his stunning young dam unexpectedly. Assured was five months old at the time so he found his way back to the yard in the show pen and ended up halter broke at the Junior Gelbvieh Show. Our good buddy Thayer Dyck showed him to Champion Bull Calf honours. His sire, Undisputed, was the undefeated bull calf of 2023 and was selected by Twin Bridge Farms after winning Farmfair, Agribition and the Futurity. Undisputed and his flushmates averaged about $15,000 including Universal who became a National Champion in 2024. Add Baha, Patsy and Gracie Gayle… Genetic potency at its finest, rest Assured!

BAHA 35B, Granddam of Lots 3, 4, 11, 23 & 30

BOLD RULER, Maternal Brother to Lot 4

AWB Twin View Decisive 51N is stout, wide topped, hairy and easy to find in the pen. We’ve really liked him all along and short listed him to be part of the show string last fall. He is the natural calf by the donor cow, Baha 1H. We own her with the Classic Cattle team and she’s absolutely been an integral part of both breeding programs. Like fine wine, she gets better with age. Now with 26 progeny registered, her influence will be substantial for years to come. She produced a national champion, sale toppers and high end production cattle with predictability and ease. Decisive is typical of her progeny with plenty of calving ease, overall presence and look. With his build and number profile, we think Decisive would work well on some heifers and sire cattle with his softness, dimension and hair. Decisively!

ACTIVE DUTY, Maternal Brother to Lot 5

AWB Twin View South Paw 40N is a big backed, heavy muscled, powerful, beef bull we appreciate so much! That’s no surprise when you consider his dam is the Sugar 24A cow who has made her mark. With Dam of Merit honours, the World Champion Sugar 26F and others to her credit, 24A remains a steadfast favourite here at 13 years of age. South Paw is by Universal, the 2024 National Champion Bull for ourselves and our friends at Goodview. He has proven himself a player in his first year of production - his daughters are exceptional! If pay weight, maternal capability and longevity are part of your selection criteria, South Paw is one to closely consider. How many bulls will sell this spring with 13 year old mothers still in production?

RIVIERA 282J, Dam of Lot 6

CAPONE 100D, Grandsire of Lot 6

AWB Twin View Shackelton 64N is one of the longest sided, smoothest made bulls in the entire pen. He was picked out this summer by guests from Quebec who said, “He is so level!” His dam came from the Beamish program and is one of our larger framed cows who passed on her shaggy, dark red haircoat. If carcass data is of interest to you, Shackleton ranks in the top 25% for all carcass traits and top 5% for Feeder Profit Index. Those are tough numbers for a purebred to achieve and mean one thing - the steer calves Shackelton sires will have your buyers lining up for more! Adding length of body is one of the surest ways to add pounds and Shackelton is the man for the job!

9 At Farmfair

Brother to

We continue to search far and wide for the newest and most innovative breeding pieces for our work. A road trip through North and South Dakota in bitter cold led Aaron to Iowa. He saw Dunbar’s mother at CIBS Gelbvieh then saw him and immediately called home to say, “I found him!” She must have been something special! Dunbar is so well put together with added frame and length of spine. His first daughter to sell was an absolute feature in Function and Finesse last fall to Chloe Wagner for $13,000 before hanging banners at both Farmfair and Agribition. His first set of sons is pretty damn cool! They’re good in their construction, have plenty of shape and demonstrate Dunbar’s ability to do exactly what we expected him to.

Maternal Brother to Lot 7 Sold to the Brookes Family

AWB Twin View Cisco 77N is a stout, moderate, super hairy Dunbar son backed by a Natalie female. Anytime you see Natalie in our pedigrees, you can bet the bank on a hardworking, honest mama cow. His granddam ended her career with 41 registered progeny to her credit. A maternal brother to Cisco sold last year to the Brookes family and they’re very happy with how he bred and how he’s matured. We’re willing to bet they’ll have some steers by him in the 4-H pen. We brought Dunbar up from Iowa and feel these outcross genetics have a lot of potential. We can’t wait to continue incorporating him for years to come. And it gives an excuse to watch the greatest movie of all time once more!

AWB Twin View Two Socks 49N is easy to find with his liver red colour and is a carbon copy of his daddy. We can’t say enough about our excitement in Dunbar. His first daughters averaged about $11,000 last fall and we think he’s just getting warmed up. Two Socks was mothered by a moderate, tanky made Vendetta daughter with small teats and superb udder attachment. She had her second calf here this spring and shows so much potential. She comes from the Gabby cow family ~ shout out to the Bonchuk legend! Moderate at birth, Two Socks ranked in the top half at both weaning and yearling. He’s another bull who’s truly designed to leave rock solid daughters without compromising pay weight in the steer pen.

AWB Twin View Sedgewick 11N ET and AWB Twin View Fort Hays 25N ET are an impressive pair of bulls we’re extremely proud of. They were a big hit at our open house last summer when guest after guest said, “That dark pair of calves is something else!” Genetically they come from one of the most consistent matings we’ve paired so far. With the great Sugar 26F as their dam and Dunbar on the top side, the maternal capability in Sedgwick and Fort Hays is massive. We have two full sisters here we’re in love with including the Sugar heifer who hung banners at Farmfair and Agribition last fall. You will likely see one or both of these heifers come into our donor pen in a couple years time.

Sedgwick made quite a name for himself in a short time. He was breed champion in the Legends of the Fall and President’s Classic and was also National Senior Calf Champion. Unfortunately we can’t show them all but we had Fort Hays ready to make the trip as well. This pair of brothers is extremely similar; Big hipped, super deep sided, stout and hairy. Sedgwick is perhaps a little tidier through his front third and Fort Hays has a more rugged herd bull presence. Pick your favourite and reap the rewards. These two get the blood pumping!

for the

Iconic is just that! He’s steady, consistent, balanced and reliable. Never out of style. Out of the awesome Sugar 26F and by the Tiree bull who served walking duty many years ago back when we were still in Alberta. Tiree was a bull whose value we didn’t fully understand until he was gone. One year, four of our five top selling bulls were out of Tiree daughters. That seemed like the right reason to go back and mate him to one of our best. A flushmate brother to Iconic works for Brittain Farms and we have a couple full sisters here as well. Obviously we’re pretty jacked about his sons but Iconic was kept in our bull battery to be a female maker. He understood the assignment. He left us 2/3 heifer calves last year and they’re awesome! The high selling heifer calf in Function and Finesse to Kale Mackenzie was a daughter and another was Calf Champion at the National Junior Gelbvieh Show. Dare we say….Iconic?

JUST GET-N-GO, Grandsire to Lot 11 BAHA 35B, Granddam of Lots 3, 4, 11, 23 & 30

AWB Twin View Strategy 78N has been on our radar since last spring. He muscled down and looked like a herd bull by about two weeks old. His dam is a Baha daughter by Get N Go who was selected by Merrindale Gelbvieh in Australia this spring to flush. Strategy at her side was a big part of their decision to flush her in order to create full sibs to him. We have two flush mate sisters to 18K and another is a donor cow for Hillsdown Gelbvieh. His granddam, Baha 35B, remains among the most influential females in our work with six direct sons working in seedstock herds. EPD’s and actual performance line up in Strategy with above average outcomes for weaning and yearling. He also boasts some impressive carcass data. Strategy working in your program would be a highly strategic move!

AWB 52N

FARRAH 96F, Granddam of Lot 12

AWB Twin View Fearless 52N is an Iconic son with big time volume and rib shape in a deep red package. His dam came from the JSJ team through Function and Finesse and has developed into a tanky, attractive and heavy milking female about to have her second calf. Her dam and sister were feature opportunities in the JSJ dispersal. Fearless is sound in his joint construction, good footed and has the look of a bull to build a herd of females from. What Fearless lacks in ear length, he makes up for in beef bull traits like muscle and genetic potency! We consider him to be a long lasting, hard working prospect with plenty of production value.

BAR NONE, Sire and Grandsire to Many Lots JAN 209B, Granddam of Lot 14

AWB Twin View Method 34N is an easy going, good haired, deep sided bull who will likely be among the buys of the day when it comes to dollars invested. Method has an impressive set of growth and maternal numbers backed by a two year old mother cow. She is a Bar None daughter back to the consistent Jan cow family and has a very bright future. Method has potential for the heifer pen with just a 75 pound start up, a 15 for CE and a negative BW EPD. This is the first set of sons by Iconic who knocked it out of the park. These bulls look great but his heifers are one of the most consistent, high quality groups we’ve produced. Method is the type of bull to offer major ROI right out of the gate!

High Caliber

94L,

LEXXUS 80N, Daughter, Part of 2025 Farmfair Champion Female

High Caliber remains a trusted go to calving option who makes a heifer’s maiden voyage into motherhood pretty slick. His calves come easy, they have tons of vigour and they’re tidy skulled. High Caliber daughters are moderate, heavy milking, highly maternal mama cows with consistent width across their hook and pin set and ample center body. A daughter was on the side of the cow we showed last fall and many suggested she may be better than her game changing mother. His sons, just like High Caliber, will moderate birth weight and sire stylish, highly sought after cattle.

AWB Twin View Crossroads 95N is a hairy, correctly designed, smooth made calving ease prospect. His dam is a direct Macy 37A daughter making her a maternal sister to The Boxer. He is sired by our long time trusted calving ease sire, High Caliber. The 37A grandmother is set to calve here again shortly at 13. True to both sides of his pedigree, Crossroads is extremely elongated and extended with a tidy skull design. Among the youngest bulls in the pen and with a CE EPD of 16, he held his own in the performance department. Calving ease potential, bred in longevity and maternal capability, Crossroads is one to seriously consider!

High Caliber continues to breed and find his way into our AI plans with his consistent ability to moderate birth, add colour and extension and to produce tremendous females. Home Grown comes with a balanced set of data and breed leading marbling numbers. If you came back to us next summer and said he calved well enough for the heifer pen, we wouldn’t be at all surprised. He’s a bull we would describe as balanced and user friendly in all aspects. Steer calves with his body design will be easy feeding and his daughters are sure to be high quality production cows. Jasper’s dam is She’s So Sassy, a female who ranks among the all time greats at Ledgerwood Gelbvieh. She has raised 6 natural sons that have sold through their bull sale including herd sires, Rampage and Jigsaw. We operate Lazy HJ Land & Cattle in the Big Muddy area of southern Saskatchewan. We have lots of hills and all native grass pastures. We breed just under 200 head of Hereford Gelbvieh cross cows. We find the Gelbvieh bulls have added pounds to our weaning weight and longevity to the cows. We have been buying bulls from Joe and Aaron almost since they moved to Parkbeg. Their genetics have always been in the lead. Their cattle are nice and quiet and easy to handle. Most importantly, Joe and Aaron have always gone above and beyond to make sure our needs have been met and they seem to know just what bulls will fit best into our program. We had a bull go down mid way through breeding. One phone call to the guys and they had a bull in our pasture within 24 hours. We believe the people you deal with are the most important thing when purchasing a bull. Now that our daughter Alyson and her fiancee Evan are going to start taking over our cattle, we will strongly encourage them to use Twin View bulls in their program. Joe and Aaron have become more like family than someone we just buy bulls from. You know they are people you can trust!

All American

All American is an AI sire out of the US. In fact, he is the first Gelbvieh bull in many years to be picked up by a mainstream semen company. We thought that was pretty exciting and wanted to do our part to support that progress. All American offers impressive real world carcass merit and he calved quite well for a bull with as much power as he has. These sons are incredibly soft made, big middled and have an impressive amount of overall shape and density.

AWB Twin View Interstate 33N is an exciting homo polled, hetero black bull with added scale and dimension we’ve been looking for. The risk of making cattle too moderate is a concern and Interstate is here to help. More stretch and extension means more payweight. He had weaning and yearling ratios of 106 and 107 and ranks in the top 3% of the breed for those EPDs. All American was the perfect compliment to this Crowfoot sired two year old cow from the Gypsy cow family. Interstate has so much presence and real world application, we’re excited to incorporate him into our work through AI. Jump on the Interstate - he can take you wherever you need to go!

If you want to judge cattle by EPD profile take a close look at what Clean Cut has to offer topped off by a top 1% ranking for marbling. His dam is a no bells and whistles mama cow who simply works her tail off every year. She raised a past feature heifer in Function and Finesse. AWB Twin View Cartel 46N is an absolute beast who covers all the bases! His pedigree is packed full of heavy hitters. His dam is the highly regarded Patsy 127F cow who also raised the Vendetta sire as well as two daughters we’ve retained before becoming a Dam of Merit. 127F is tough to miss while touring. Midas Gelbvieh Stud from Australia wisely chose to flush her this spring. Cartel is a Ragnar son of course tracing back to the great Sugar. Layering these elite mother cows is the surest way to add consistency. Cartel is the type we’ve been looking for so we hope to incorporate him into our breeding plans this spring. If you like them stout, soggy and sound, Cartel has a deal for you!

Vendetta is a bull we had our eyes on from the get go with his dark colour, elite foot, and tremendous width of top and shape. He had a successful show season as a calf then sold to Glendale Gelbvieh and Red Angus Stud in Australia and Stonegate Farms. We used Vendetta with success on some heifers and also on larger framed cows. He consistently moderates frame score and leaves an impressive amount of top shape. Vendetta daughters are in production now and we love them! They pattern much like Vendetta’s dam and paternal granddam with gorgeous udders and tanky, bold ribbed, shapely designs. His sons have been very desirable. One was selected through the bull futurity to Guymon Livestock in Utah, another to Flatland Ranch and we walk a son here at Twin View. Vendetta leaves a consistent highly desirable look and will continue to find use in our work. Semen is available.

AFTER PARTY, Full Brother to Lot 24 Herdsire for

APEX, Full Brother to Lot 24, Herdsire for Twin View

AWB Twin View Top Dollar 74N ET is a bull we’re extremely proud of. So much so that we chose to campaign him last fall as part of our show team. He was widely admired for his absolutely liver red colour, elite foot construction and exceptional balance from end to end. Top Dollar is a direct son of the awesome Grace 178D donor we own with Beamish Land and Cattle and is sired by Vendetta. Top Dollar is a flush mate to After Party who now resides in Utah at Guymon Livestock and also to Apex who walks the pastures here at Twin View. He’s also a maternal sibling to six others we’ve marketed through Function and Finesse and the bull sale. 178D is about as impressive as they come. We love this mama cow! Her natural daughter this year is simply elite! We believe Top Dollar would work on select, well grown out heifers and his daughters are going to be total smokeshows!

BONANZA 929G

SUGAR 26F, Dam of Lot 9 & 10, Granddam of Lots 11, 12, 14, 23, 25 & 30

PRODIGY, Full Brother to Dam of Lot 25, Herdsire for

BAR NONE, Sire and Grandsire of Many Lots

AWB Twin View Gangster 38N is a unique genetic package who combines many of our most influential players. His two year old dam is an ET daughter of Sugar 26F and Bar None with an impeccable udder mounted under a bold ribbed, high volume and attractive package. Add Bonanza, Patsy, Drake and The Boxer and you’re left with as much maternal prowess as we can put into a pedigree. Gangster is a well balanced, well put together bull who steers clear of extremes. Middle ground is a great way to build consistency in your calf crop and Gangster is just the ticket if that’s what you’re after.

Our search to add a maternally oriented red power bull to our battery led us to Brittain Farms. They’re a long time trusted source of high quality mama cows in the breed and Latitude’s mother has quite a track record of her own. Latitude is the all time high seller from their sale and these sons demonstrate the muscle pattern and softness we hoped he would add. We have several daughters who have a great deal of promise in the replacement pen as well.

GYPSY 130E, Dam of Lot 26

GYSPY 4G, Maternal Sister to Lot 26 Sold to Goodview Gelbvieh

JET BLACK, Maternal Brother to Lot 26 Herdsire For McMorris Family

AWB Twin View Machine 108N is a long sided, smooth made prospect who’s built with longevity, performance and carcass merit in mind. He has ribeye area and yield grade numbers at the very peak of the breed. Machine is next in what’s becoming a long line of high end results from Gypsy 130E. She has another stout bull calf at side this spring and continues to be a model female with excellent udder quality and mothering ability. She has sent daughters to Goodview Gelbvieh and Silverline Farms and a son last year was a feature black bull to the McMorris Family. Machine is sure to develop into an extremely impressive and long lasting herd bull siring outstanding results.

LOVEBUG 17A, Granddam of Lot 27

AWB Twin View Western Front 87N is a liver red, boldly constructed bull who developed the muscle shape of a herd bull at a young age. He is extremely impressive when you analyze him for depth of rib and overall dimension which we also appreciated about the Latitude sire. Western Front turned heads at the side of his superbly designed young mother. She’s an ultra feminine Boxer daughter with textbook teat size and udder attachment. Many will remember his beautiful grandmother who was a feature in Function and Finesse 1.0. Western Front had a weaning ratio of 102 then exploded as the highest adjusted yearling weight bull with a ratio of 112. All’s fine on the Western Front!

Rosemary 25F, Granddam to Lot 28

THE BOXER, Grandsire to Many Lots FORTUNE, Maternal Brother to Lot 28 Herdsire for Big West Gelbvieh

AWB 92N

Feb-27-2025

HIGH CALIBER, Grandsire of Lot 28

AWB Twin View Cornerstone 92N is a truly impressive individual with so much breed character and potential as an influential herd bull. He’s deep bodied, bold in his shape and has a real herd bull presence about himself. Cornerstone’s dam is a tanky, moderate High Caliber daughter from the Rosemary cow family. If you said she’s the best Caliber daughter in production, we likely wouldn’t argue. Her first son sold last year to Big West Gelbvieh for their growing operation. The Rosemary family keeps drawing attention and one that you’ll be hearing more from in years to come. Cornerstone had an adjusted 205 of nearly 800 pounds with a ratio of 107 then kept it up with a yearling ratio of 111. This is an absolute stud poised to create an outstanding calf crop of both genders.

LOLA 336L, Dam of Lot 29

BLITZ L236, Sire of Lot 29

AWB Twin View Blitz 1N is an ultra long sided bull with added frame and ability to leave pounds in your calf crop. Blitz is a complete genetic outcross to the Canadian herdbook with a tremendous set of numbers and real data. He ranked in the top 5 of the pen at both weaning and yearling while being mothered by a two year old cow. His dam is a larger scaled female with an elite foot and udder purchased from Ledgerwood in Function and Finesse. Being homo polled and hetero black, Blitz is a big time opportunity for the most discerning producer to step into something unique and reap the rewards. Bulls of this quality and uniqueness are tough to come by!

SUGAR 61L, Dam of Lot 30

FUGITIVE, Sire of Lot 30

Herdsire for Red Willow Ranch

JLSL 424B, Granddam of Lot 30

AWB Twin View Border Patrol 30N is an ideal option if you’ve got heifers to breed but expect a little more product in the fall. He is the only son we got from the Fugitive bull - a new outcross, calving ease option who left us and Red Willow Ranch with an awesome set of daughters. Border Patrol and his dam were in the running to be our show pair last fall. We loved them together all summer! The Sugar 61L is an extremely promising young cow with a gorgeous udder and awesome look who was among the first to calve this year. Border Patrol ranks in the top 10% for CE and started at just 80 pounds but then had an adjusted weaning weight of 764. Calving ease, maternal and plenty of pay weight at weaning!

TVL STANDARDS

Why we feed the way we do

We believe breeding cattle should be developed low and slow. We never creep feed because it reduces our ability to know what these cows can do. After weaning, we pail feed a developer pellet from Trouw Nutrition with free choice hay. Even bulls in the show pen are started early and fed low and slow. We want your bull to be athletic and ready to work.

Why a live sale

We believe a live sale is the most equitable and transparent way to establish value. A live sale brings people together and builds community. We want to shake your hand, look you in the eye, share a meal and hear about your family. What we love most about our business is the people.

Why we show

We believe showing cattle is a great opportunity to increase exposure of the breed. Our “show cattle” are no different than those at home. Show selection is based on genetics we want to promote each year. Buying one from the show string does not necessarily mean they’re better than one that didn’t make the trip to town.

Why we emphasize feet and structure

We believe good cattle are built from the ground up. Longevity and trouble free production start at proper structure. We are strict and vigorous in our inspection. Poor footed cattle are recipient cows at best. You don’t have time for foot issues so it’s our responsibility to make them right!
