In its 11th year, the Dudgeon family has built a program that commercial cattleman from far and wide annually rely on for their replacement females within their respective herds and have solidified a repeat customer base in volume that no other program has in Eastern Canada. This family has the closest ties you will find with deep agriculture roots located just outside Dobbinton Ontario and or just north east of the hamlet of Paisley in Bruce county. Growing up and being involved in all sectors of the cattle business is just the way of life for the Dudgeons. Backgrounding in excess of 1500 head per year, calving nearly 200 mother cows and also raising one of the top purebred black angus herds in the province. The nearly 300 bred heifers that will be on offer on November 1st have been sorted down from the original 550 that were gathered between their own cowherd and purchasing only the best from respective herds in western Canada and from buyers of the Top Cut heifers in previous years. This operation is the true testament to a family run business that lives and breaths for the cattle industry . Please don’t hesitate to contact any of the crew here at Dudgeon Cattle Co for a tour before hand or to answer any questions you may have .

Now more then ever shows the importance of what a mother cow can do. Not only that, but to have the discipline and maintain the quality of the stock available. We’ve seen over the years multiple times people who breed heifers with limited research think “it’s just easy, throw a bull out and it will be all good”. Not the case here. The bull power used on all these sale heifers have to not only be labeled “heifers bulls”, but have a pedigree that is proven to be lighter birth weight and from programs who kept a gestation tally of days of the bulls to prove they are literally “lighter birthweight”. Of course, as always, visual is always the first thing and you’ll be quick to notice smaller heads and smooth shouldered bulls are what is being used.
• TEMPERAMENT — The number one thing when buying replacement females or really any cattle. We are around these heifers a lot, walk through them all the time and move them on pasture. We’ve sorted the crazies. These girls are calm.
• GOOD LOOKING — We take a lot of pride in our cattle and can’t stand to look at poor ones. We love heifers with stature, thickness and body that will lay down and calve on their own and have enough to them to a raise a top cut calf on the first year.
• BRED FOR PROFIT — We take bull buying serious. Theres no reason why these first calf heifers can’t raise a top selling calf on the first year. We know exactly where all these cattle come from and to the day when the bulls went in and pulled.
• VIDEOS — The day before the sale or if not before, we will run every group how they will sell on November 1st and have video of them posted on social media and DLMS.
• BUYING MADE EASY — In all cases we want everyone to attend the sale if possible. We do offer internet bidding, but we know these cattle in and out. So if your unable to attend contact any of the consignors or Ben and let them handle it. Time and time again we order buy cattle out of this sale with satisfaction better then if they did it themselves. Don’t be afraid to call us.
The day before the sale posted online and available at the office is the exact sale order of how the heifers will sell. Generally we sell them in groups of 2, 3 and 4 in one shot. Sorted to size, shape, colour and calving .
All bred to calving ease Black Angus Dudgeon bulls

Always a sale feature, these Sim Angus heifers always sort up pretty darn nice once they get to town. Bred with maternal instincts, that shot of Blk sim adds pounds and insures a big calf come fall. Developed in a commercial environment, we can’t say enough about the quality in this years offering. Of course we’ve always had a soft spot for the baldies, but some of the top sellers last year were on the solid Blk group. This year we have more then ever and we’re sure proud of them. Starting to calve the middle of January / February with designated held back for spring calving in March / April.
All bred to calving ease Red Angus bulls from LLB , U2 Ranch, Wilbar, and Walsh farms

There’s probably been more people ask about the red influenced heifers all summer then any other group. An exceptional group designated for the long haul and bred to some of the best good looking calving ease heifer bulls we could find. These heifers are salty good. Again that shot of Sim lets you have that milk advantage with power that you can breed any way for their 2nd calf. Majority starting to calve the middle of January/ February with a group held back to calve in March/ April like the rest. Make sure you log on and watch the videos on dlms.ca before the sale on this group. We probably can’t stress enough how quiet and easy to handle this set is. Excellent replacement quality that will last for a long time.
