Welcome to the Spirit of the North Bull Sale, hosted by Clevelands Farm, Cas-Bar Farms, Porter Simmentals and held at the Spiritwood Stockyards in the heart of some of the finest cow country in Western Canada. This region has long been known for its hardworking cattlemen, strong maternal cowherds, and a commitment to producing functional, profitable cattle. It is only fitting that a bull sale of this caliber takes place here.

Clevelands Farm leads off the offering with a powerful set of rugged, performance-driven two-year-old Angus bulls. Developed with longevity, soundness, and practicality in mind, these bulls are designed to go to work and cover cows in real-world conditions. Their extra age, muscle, and structural integrity make them ideal for commercial programs looking for reliability and breeding power.

Cas-Bar Farms brings an impressive and diverse group of Charolais and Simmental bulls, including both two-yearolds and yearlings. Their Charolais bulls are built to add pounds, muscle, and performance to any calf crop, while the Simmentals offer the maternal strength, growth, and hybrid vigor that the breed is well known for. The Cas-Bar program continues to focus on producing cattle that work in the pasture and add value at sale time.

Rounding out the sale is Porter Simmental with a select group of high-quality yearling Simmental bulls. Known for their consistency and balanced approach to breeding, the Porter program presents bulls that combine performance, structure, and strong maternal genetics—bulls capable of moving any herd forward.

Together, these programs represent generations of dedication to the cattle industry. The bulls offered here have been developed with the commercial cattleman in mind—sound, functional cattle that are bred to thrive in the northern environment and deliver pounds and profitability for years to come.

Whether you are looking for calving ease, maternal strength, added performance, or simply dependable herd bulls that will go out and get the job done, the Spirit of the North offering has something for every operation.

On behalf of everyone at T Bar, we invite you to join us at the Spiritwood Stockyards for what promises to be an outstanding day of cattle and fellowship. We encourage you to visit with the consignors ahead of the sale, evaluate the bulls, and select the genetics that best suit your program. As always if we at T Bar C maybe of any assistance to you, feel free to call any member of our Team.

welcome Clevelands Farm

Welcome to our annual Spirit of the North Bull Sale. Thank you to our past bidders and buyers, and welcome to those who are new.

As always, we only offer and sell two-year old Bulls. We find the bulls are able to develop and mature better, so they are ready to work to their full capacity. These bulls can handle more females, plus maintain themselves better. New to our lineup this year are Simmental and Simm-Angus cross.

No need to tell you it’s exciting times to be in the cattle business hope this trend continues for many years to come, lord knows we deserve it! A tip of the hat to everyone who hung on to that cow’s tail as she drug us through the muck!

Clevelands Farm is very proud to introduce this group of bulls, representing calving ease and performance. We hope that you will find a bull that fits your breeding needs, be it in the heifer pasture or the cows. These bulls have been lightly backgrounded, then put back on grass to encourage further growth and development. They are on an TMR ration, consisting of cereal silage, brown oats, and a mineral package to promote adequate growth and scrotal development. All bulls will be vaccinated with Fusogard to help prevent foot rot.

We encourage you to come and preview the bulls ahead of sale day at the ranch or at Spiritwood Stockyards prior to the sale. If you are unable to make it sale day, bidding can be done on DLMS or with T Bar C staff to help with your selection.

On behalf of Clevelands Farm, we would like to thank you for trust and interest in our program. If any questions arise, please feel free to contact John at 306-468-7648 or Dallas at 306-468-7715.

Welcome to the Spirit of the North Annual Bull Sale 2026.

We would like to thank all of our buyers and bidders that have supported our program over the years, with many of you being repeat buyers!

Our lineup of bulls is once again a group we are proud to present. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone. Bulls with calving ease and performance and few Red Factor bulls as well. Once again, we have a small group of Simmental bulls along with our signature Charolais bulls. We have bulls resulting from embryo transplants, as we strive to produce and raise a group of elite bulls using current genetics of both breeds.

We encourage you to view the videos of our bulls online at buyagro.com or better yet inspect them at the farm prior to the sale.

Mark your calendars, we will be having our Customer Appreciation Open House once again Sunday March 22, 2026 starting at Noon and ending when you decide to go home. We provide excellent food and beverages and rancher socializing for the whole family. Please come and let us assist you in choosing the bulls that best suits your program. We will make every attempt to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase.

Working with the Cas Bar crew on their nutrition program has been a pleasure. I hope you can make it in person to see this elite set of Charolais bulls.

The cowherd utilizes a mineral program that is balanced to the cow’s requirements and feed sources. This supports proper bull calf health and development from a young age. The bull development program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health. All forages are sampled and analyzed to ensure quality feed sources are used. Cas Bar utilizes a protein supplement to ensure the bulls daily diet is promoting lean muscle growth, allowing the bulls to express their genetic potential. Rumen health is of upmost importance, which is why suitable protein sources and proper starch levels are fed to the bulls.

Cas Bar Farms uses a total nutrition program on their entire operation, ensuring optimal performance and health of their cattle. If you have any questions about the nutrition of the sale bulls, please feel free to call.

Best of luck on sale day!

This first black bull to ever sell at Cas Bar Farms, and what a cool bull he is! Out of a first calf heifer, sired by Wheatlands Man O’ War. High Tide could work in either the heifer pen or be put on mature cows to add calving ease, all the while not sacrificing performance.

welcome Porter Simmentals from

On behalf of Porter Simmentals, welcome to the Spirit of the North Bull Sale. With 2025 being our first year in this sale, we said we were committed to the Spirit of the North Bull Sale and dedicated to bring you our best. Here we are one year later, and excited to be back in Spiritwood again. Also great to be back working with Cas Bar Farms, Clevelands Farm, and also the T Bar C crew. In 2025, who would’ve thought we would ever have more optimism in the cattle industry? Guess what? 2026 looks to be even better! What a great time to be involved in the beef industry. As I write this welcome, we are about halfway through our calving season, and I’m already excited about the bulls we are going to offer in 2027! As for this year, we feel that we have a strong set of bulls to offer and there should be something that will work for everyone. Sons of the great RF Caliber, 2 black baldie sons of the tried and proven NGDB Structure, a black blaze heifer bull, and 2 really solid red bulls sired by a Top Tier son. We strive to produce sound, easy-doing, problem-free cattle that will be profitable for their new owners. Our bulls are weaned in September and then developed on a hand-fed bull developer ration along with dry hay. They are developed to grow and not over conditioned. Hand feeding has made these bulls very easy to work with and a desirable disposition. Disposition around here is key. If the attitude isn’t right, they don’t stay in our herd. We hope that you will be able to join us on sale day! We would also encourage you to come view the bulls (and the momma cows) at the farm prior to the sale. We always enjoy giving a tour and talking cows. Please reach out to myself or the T Bar C crew if you have any questions. DLMS will be available on sale day as well. See you sale day!

Mike Porter

ATTRACTIVE & practical

Here is my pick of the bull pen. He is the youngest bull in our offering with just a March 5th birthdate, and he just keeps getting better with age. 24N has kept right up with his pen mates and by sale day you will not notice him as the March baby. His dam, 249K, was a high selling red bred heifer that we purchased from Bonchuk Farms production sale. 249K is also a daughter of 5015C, making him a ¾ brother to 2N. At 11 months of age, I taped him at 39cm. 24N is a real clean smooth fronted bull that is real attractive through his front 1/3. Add that to his balance, performance, eye appeal and extended look you will have a bull that is attractive as he is practical. He’s got the herd bull presence and demands your attention when you see him in the pen. 24N was a member of our fall show string exhibited at both Manitoba Ag Ex and CWA in Regina.

Homo Polled/ Hetero Black 2N is the result of an embryo purchase from Rancier Farms. His sire, RF Caliber, needs no introduction to the Simmental breed. His dam, R Plus 8006F, is a 5015C daughter that sold in the R Plus dispersal and now found herself a spot in the Rancier donor pen. 2N is a long spined, big nutted, free moving, performance bull, that was a member of our fall show string. His smooth fluid stride speaks longevity and real world functionality. Look to him to sire some big performance steer calves that will push down the scale. His full sib flush mate, MJP Miss Caliber ET 1N, is a female that we are very excited about. She is a female that we plan to build around and look for her to be a big part of our cow herd in the future. The pedigree is packed; the guesswork is done. Buy with confidence on this one.

1N Heifer calf Champion at the 2025 YCSA National Show

Homo Polled/ Homo Black Performance!! Here is the big power version of the flush brothers. His recip dam kept him in the oven a little longer as this implant group was due Jan. 3. Once he hit the ground he never looked back, being the heaviest calf at weaning and also the heaviest at yearling weight. Another son of Caliber and backed by a 5015C dam from Rancier Farms donor pen, his pedigree is stacked with quality. Look for him to sire those heavyweight steers that will bring top dollars at weaning time. This flush group of calves were all very good disposition and hes got the easy going kind of attitude as well.

What a job GFP 8Y did last year! She raised both these NGDB Structure sons herself, at 14 years of age. 8Y has been a very productive cow, raising bulls that Barb and Gerald sold off the farm in 2014 and 2017. We are lucky to have 2 daughters working in our herd. Unfortunately this will be the last chance to purchase her progeny. Udder quality, soundness, and longevity are traits that we strive to produce, and 8Y was excellent in every aspect. Now for the bulls, these 2 catch everyone’s eye that tours the pen. I’m going to let you decide which one you like better. Add the money stripe and performance to your steer calves, or add the maternal strength of a great cow to your replacement pen. Maybe the best decision would be just take them both home!

GFP Elmo 11N

SIRE NGDB Structure 34D

5N is a red bull that we admired all along. He had a lot of friends on the pasture tours last summer. Long bodied and early maturity were comments on hm as a calf. GFP 3K is a moderate framed young Bearclaw daughter that looks to have a promising future here. MJP Top Gun 1L was used here as a yearling and we are very happy with the calves he left us. He’s a son of the calving ease specialist Top Tier. With a modest 90 lb birthweight I feel 5N would be a great option for 2nd calvers. While we only have the 2 red bulls in our offering, I feel they both provide real world functionality and will be profitable to their new owners.

Here is the half brother to 5N. 17N is backed by a real power cow. GFP 15K is a dark red large powerful female that attracts attention from visitors. She is a heavy milking young cow that raised a set of twins on her very first try, then bred right back and gave us 17N. She’s got a real good Walk The Line heifer calf on the ground this year. 15K definitely has a promising future and we are happy to get a female on the ground to add to our herd. 17N will add performance and maternal strength. Hairy, big nuts, and functional are how I describe both these red bulls.

Homo Polled/ Hetero Black Heifer Bull!!! J.D 7N represents a reliable heifer safe option backed by calving ease on both sides of his pedigree. His dam, GFP Gloria 4L, was Rebecca’s 4-H heifer. She was Reserve Champion Commercial yearling at YCSA show in Weyburn. Gloria is a moderate framed, easy keeping female with a great udder. J.D is sired by Copper Kettle Joe Dirt, a Man O War son. We used Joe Dirt in the heifer pen for 3 years. J.D was born with a 65 lb birthweight at 175 day gestation. Gloria 4L herself has a 60 lb birthweight. J.D is a free moving, good footed, well balanced bull that puts it all together in attractive package. Bonus is the splash of chrome on his face.

Charolais

The Percentage Calving Chart

1. An average cow of any breed should be able to calve 7% of her body weight.

2. Most Charolais and Simmental cows will weigh between 1400-1800 lb., expected calf weight to range from 98 to 126 lb.

3. Most Red Angus and Black Angus cows will weigh between 1200-1600 lb., expected calf weight range 84 to 112 lb.

4 Calving ease is more important than birth weight because a longer sided calf may calve easy, but the birth weight is higher. (see 7% Calving Chart below)

Birth Weight & Calving Ease

University studies in Wyoming and data from Montana and Colorado lend credence to the following conclusion:

1. The birth weight itself influences calving ease by 65%

2. The female has 60-70% influence on birth weight of her calf.

3. The bull has 30-40% influence on birth weight of his progeny.

4. Pelvic measurement and angle as well as the shape of the calf have 35-40% influence on calving ease.

5. Length of gestation greatly affects birth weight. A fetus can gain over one pound per day in the last days of gestation.

6. Weather and temperature the last 30 days affect the length of gestation.

7. Size and maturity of cow influence calving ease.
