58 Fullblood & Red Purebred Bulls
After you step through the gate to the Skywest bullpen, it doesn’t take a lot more steps to suddenly appreciate the uniformity and consistency included. It honestly can be a bit confusing instantly. If “first impressions are everything”, then this is a big time winner! The growth, thickness and performance of this pen is incredible especially considering the large wintering development area they are housed in. These are real beef bulls, designed very purposeful, from both sides of their pedigrees. They are lead by large groups of brothers sired by Milsap and Synergy, and flanked strongly by sons of Rumble, Rambler and Landmark! Not only do they attain the DNA of such a powerful bull battery, but I encourage you to take some time and read the footnotes which brings a lot of valuable information to the dams of these prospects and the exceptional track records they have! Respectfully, this pen of Fullblood Simmental bulls would be hard to challenge for all its aforementioned attributes.
The Virginia Ranch bull pen also carries multiple brothers, as always! The theme that occurs within, probably more than ever, is the calving ease values included. Line up the Dutton and Volt sons plus the lone son of Garrett, on paper and genetically, there’s bulls for anyone, anywhere! They’ve also been screened thoroughly (as are the Skywest bulls) for structural soundness and hoof quality.
We continue with the 3 or more bull discount of 5% on your TOTAL purchase which is a benefit to the buyers, for the obvious monetary value, but especially with the depth of bulls included in this sale, there’s as much reason as ever to have very extended lists!
We have worked extensively with these families and the genetics included and it would be a pleasure to talk to you about the sale bulls. Hopefully you can make it to the new Skywest Sales Facility, SW of Didsbury to enjoy a steak cooked by our friends at Kodiak BBQ. If you can’t attend, or would like an appraisal prior to your arrival, simply give us a call, our cell phone numbers are listed, and if you weren’t aware, we are also available to bid on your behalf in you absence. This service has been used successfully for years by both registered and commercial cattlemen and also yours to use at no charge.
Hope to see you February 24,

Jaymes E. (Jay) Good

SKYWEST SALE BARN DIDSBURY, AB Join Us for a Complimentary Barbecue Steak Lunch Sale Day! 58 Fullblood & Red Purebred Bulls

Special Thanks to All of Our Buyers and Bidders Througout the Years! We very much appreciate the support and confidence in our programs!

On behalf of all of us here at Skywest Simmentals, we would like to welcome you to the annual Skywest Simmentals / Virginia Ranch Bull Sale. We hope that you all had a successful harvest and enjoyed the nice fall weather that we were gifted by mother nature, but all good things come to an end which winter moved in and gave us a healthy dose of cold weather for a few weeks to start off. The cowherd has continued to slowly grow since we acquired the majority of the herd from Virginia Ranch, which we will forever feel grateful that Harry, Michelle and the entire Satchwell family gave us the opportunity to continue on their legacy with our herd. With the increased numbers we were able to offer our largest group of bred heifers to the Western Harvest Sale and what a day it was. Record prices across all consignors with a packed sale barn made for a special day. To top off the special day was the fact that we were able to host it right here at the Skywest Simmentals Ranch in the new sale facility. It has always been a dream of ours to eventually have a sale right at home when the timing was right and after the bull sale last spring the decision was made to bring it home. Starting in early July there was dirt being moved, pens were being torn apart, and construction crews starting to show up and throw up walls. Once the main construction was done than it was time to piece the yard back together and design a sale pen system which came together quicker than we thought.
Even with all the changes around the farm, the one constant that we remain focused on is building cow families and strengthening our herd by sourcing the best genetics we can whether its through AI or walking herd bulls.
All the yearling bulls were weaned and fed together since early September in the large grass paddock to the north of the farm yard where they see people everyday and get the kids on motor bikes doing Indy 500 laps around their pen all fall long so they are safe to say - kid broke. The bulls were fed a TMR ration that was tested and balanced out by Country Junction as well as free choice hay, so these bulls are not pushed and grow on their own natural abilities and at their own rates.
For some of you that is new to our program. Our farm has always been a multi family run operation from the early Dairy days that came to an end in 2015, with the focus moving to the commercial Simmental herd and growing the newly registered Fleckvieh herd. As everyone knows change is always tough on a family farm but in todays markets you have to be willing to adapt and grow when possible.
Which Riley and I (Cody) owe our father Gary who a lot of you know from touring the herd at the farm or from around the sale barn as being our constant support system and possibly one of the best cattleman we know and lucky to have in our corner. His wealth of knowledge expands across feeding cattle, treating animals, all of our AI work, crop production and all of the day-to-day operations. The last 3 years have seen some dramatic growth with the addition of the Virginia Ranch cow herd and this past summers sale facility build which he has stood behind us 100% and reminded us to go for it. So, to him we say Thank You for all that you do for our program and us.
We welcome all visitors anytime you’re in the area to stop by for a tour of the bulls or see the dam’s who are in the yard as we are heavy into calving and won’t wander to far away from the barn for the next few months.
We would also like to thank the Transcon Livestock team for the professional services that they provide us throughout the year whether it’s sourcing cattle for us or promoting our program.
If you are unable to join us on sale day, we encourage you to reach out to us or the Transcon team who have toured the bull pen multiple times last fall and this winter leading up to the sale to help you find that bull that will suit your needs for your program.
As it is a busy time of year for everyone, we feel fortunate to do what we love in raising Fleckvieh cattle so we would like to stop and say Thank You! To all of you who have bid, bought, or showed interest in our cattle over the years. It means the world to us and we look forward to lasting partnerships and friendships for years to come.
We look forward to many more visits and conversations leading up to the sale and down the sale road.
Sincerely,
The Edwards Family

• “Mission” gets to lead off this incredibly strong group of Milsap son’s and for good reason. He has had the herd bull look since a young age and continued to impress all summer long.
• As close to the complete package as you could wish for being smooth polled, tidy skull with the depth of rib and hip, dark pigmented and heavy haired which all makes the genetics from his sire Milsap so desirable.
• The dam of “Mission” is an excellent 2ndcalver that we had purchased out of the Black Gold bull sale as an open heifer. Early indications are showing that she could be a big time breeding piece here for years to come. Almost forgot to mention that she is a direct daughter of the Kananaskis 947Z cow that has been a breeding masterpiece in the breed.
• With his docile disposition, he was a favorite amongst all visitors that have toured the bullpen as he greets you at the gate most times.
• Sep 3 Actual Weaning Weight 902lbs

• “Maverick” is one of the pen favorites of ours all year long as he is another outstanding Milsap son that we are having a tough time parting with. He carry’s all the attributes that his sire puts into his progeny, excellent footed, dark pigmented with heavy hair and perfect bone structure and frame.
• He could be found easily basking around the pasture or in the bullpen soaking up the sun or walking the fences checking on nearby ladies. He has the herd bull look and going to do big things in this breed for years to come.
• Mavericks dam is an excellent cow in her prime Virginia Madilyn 802F whose daughter Skywest Maddy 420M was purchased by the great people at Bovey Simmentals, Ont for $17,000 at the 2025 Western Harvest Sale. She has gone to a great home and we can’t wait to see what she does for the Bovey Family.
• Every calf of Madilyn 802F has been registered and gone through the sale ring. Consistency is built into this cow family.

• Stand At Attention… for the Major.
• Yes, this future herd bull will grab your attention when you see him march across the bullpen or pasture like we had the privilege of doing all summer long. This powerhouse, smooth walking fella has all the tools to compliment any herd that he will be lucky to call home. Long spined and walks on a big square foot.
• Major’s dam Virginia Everly 739E is a proven big time producer who we feel very lucky to own now. She has progeny all over the country and most notably the dam of Virginia Ramsey who is working at Double Bar D Farms and daughters at Madge Simmentals, Pine Creek Simmentals and right here in the Skywest herd.
• Everly 739E also brings some outcross breeding to the table such as Notorious, IPU Bronson and Virginia Michelangelo
• Weaned off at 983 lbs in early September
• We think so highly of Major that we would be interested in using some of his genetics in our own herd at some point.
• Sept 3 Actual Weaning Weight 983lbs

• Marco is a powerful well put together bull that had to take the tough road in life which makes us appreciate how well he developed as he lost his dam in July unexpectedly which he than stepped up to raise himself.
• He was an early favorite in the bullpen and when he became orphaned we kept a close eye on him to ensure he was well looked after. He stuck with his pen mates and didn’t miss a beat and still weaned off at 930 lbs.
• His dam was an excellent young crude cow that raised the Delgado bull last year that sold to Rosefield Simmentals, BC for $20,000.
• Marco 61N will be a bull that will produced the heavy haired soggy calves that the industry loves

• Another Milsap son that commands your attention for his sheer volume, incredible length and heavy dark haircut while carrying the polled gene.
• The dam of 6N is one of our favorite cows in the entire herd and for a few good reasons. Skywest Francene 6F was purchased by Virginia Ranch as the high seller at the Red Deer Equation sale as a bred heifer. She was a female that we always loved since a calf and hated having to sell her. When the opportunity came to purchase majority of the cowherd from Harry and Michelle, Francene was top of the list to come back to our program where she produces year after year. She has a $30,000 daughter working at Beechinor Bros, daughter in the Polar Farms program and a daughter in our program as well and last years bull calf sold to Rycroft Cattle Co.

• Augustine 308A has put 4 bulls into purebred hers with Moxon potentially being her 5th. As well as the Kimora 255K female that has entered the flush program in Quebec for Sibelle Simmentals.

• His dam that is an easy doing Spruce View Acres 524D cow that produces a ripper of a calf every year no matter who she’s bred too directly influences his quiet disposition.
• She has daughters working at Maxwell Simmentals, Ab Graff Simmentals, BC and an excellent bred heifer that was retained in our herd.

• Another polled Synergy son that is an exact replica of his sire by his polled head shape, goggles, lip markings and incredible length through that smooth front end and sweeping rib cage. Quite a few visitors that have walked through the bullpen made the same comment on his resemblance to his sire so it’s not just us.
• When you get behind Slider and see his wide top and big hips while walking so smooth he’s a pleasure to watch move across the pen
• His dam has been a big producer so far as well putting heifers in the herds of Fallen Timber Farms, BC, Stone Simmentals and a heifer that we have added to the Skywest herd.

Her Milsap heifer that we retained is calving as we write these footnotes.
• Cassandra 530C will be flushed this winter to add to her impressive resume for years to come.

XCELLENT
• Roman was the pace car of the bullpen this year as he always had the soggy, easy fleshing look all summer and when it came time to weaning he pushed down the scales to 1063
• His dam is a big hipped, big barrel Duramax daughter that raises a broody calf every year
• Roman is double goggled and resembles his sire Rambler a lot in his sheer volume, big square feet and excellent disposition.
• If you retain your calves or sell them by the pound, Roman will fill your need.
• Sept 3 Actual Weaning Weights 1063lbs

• Radcliff is the first son of Virginia Jane 161J that has hit a home run with every calf so far. Her first calf heifer was purchased by Okofleck Simmentals, Okotoks for $13,000 and this past fall Brian Miller/Okofleck in partnership with Mavv Farms came back to keep the sisters together by acquiring Skywest Ruby Jane 437M for $29,000. It just happens to be that Radcliff is a full brother to Ruby Jane.
• Sire by NUG Rambler who is proving to put depth and volume in his offspring and maintaining that deep red pigment
• Excellent disposition in this bull, big footed
• Long line of consistency in the bloodlines here having Miss Moses, Laredo, Total Value, Battle cry 4F, Gudas.

• Moderate frame, heavy haired and dark right to his feet. Landman isn’t the biggest in the bullpen but catches a lot of eyes from visitors due to his style and eye appeal.
• Another Rambler son that just puts it all together
• His dam is the direct daughter of Anchor D 485D which was one of the flush sisters we purchased when we swept the ring at the Pasture Treasure’s sale a few years ago out of Danny’s Saphire 111S donor cow. 485D also produced the Skywest Fonzie bull that now lives in Iowa for Stanley Martin and has 3 daughters in the herd here at Skywest.
• Sept 3 Actual Weaning Weight 835lbs

RADKO 751G
• Another Rambler son with a ton of volume and thickness. Rambler will be getting a bigger group of cows this year now that we see the end product.
• The heifers from Rambler as equally as impressive and soggy which will make great mother cows.
• Remington himself looks to follow in his father’s footsteps being big hipped, big topped, hairy and deep
• Sept 3 Actual Weaning Weight 900lbs

228K
• Rosco leads off the group of Rambler sons this year. Rambler was the lead off bull from the Maxwell Simmentals bull sale. In the early days Rambler is showing his worth, as a Rambler daughter was one of the high sellers at the Western Harvest sale for $31,000 to Okofleck and Mavv Farms.
• The Rambler progeny have the extra depth and volume though the middle and big hips to carry these cattle for years.
• Rosco is the result of the Duramax/rambler combination that worked well here. Dark red, heavy haired and big square feet.
• Easy fleshing and soggy

Harry, Michelle & family welcome you to the Skywest/ Virginia Ranch Annual Bull Sale.
We are honoured to be selling alongside our fellow consignors and friends the Edwards family - Skywest Simmentals @ the lovely new sale facility they have built on their farm! At a smaller scale for us, we continue to pride ourselves in producing the best offering we can and trust they will be met with a positive appraisal. Over the years we have culled our cow herd hard; striving to have mama cows with sound, functional udders, good feet/legs and nice dispositions – all positive traits that should be passed on through their progeny. All of our offering are managed on a total herd health program, and all vaccinations are up to date. Please keep an eye out on the Transcon website www.transconlivestock.com as videos will be available on all lots a couple of weeks prior to sale day.
Please know we always welcome visitors to the farm and enjoy the visits when they happen. The fellas are open to your viewing on the farm prior to sale day. Should you not be available to attend on sale day, please reach out to a trusted member of the Transcon Team who we are proud to note have represented our program exclusively for over 30+ years. Denver comes from a fantastic cow that has just turned 11 this January. You want it, she has it; great udder, good feet, pigmented, structurally correct, deep, super disposition, she’s just all-around GOOD. Her son Virginia Fresno 15M, a Pol Synergy bull was one of our high sellers in last year’s bull sale, selling to Wolfe Farms of Valleyview, AB. Tony always finds the good ones! Denver was our high weighing bull on weaning day (Aug 30th) at 945lbs (with NO Creep). I really like this bull.

I just mentioned Wolfe Farms in the last footnote, well this fella comes from a female we bought from Tony a few years back that we absolutely love. Her son out of BLL Voltage sold last year to Crocus Coulee Cattle Co. (Jessie Young) and a bred heifer sold to Madge Simmentals at the female sale two years ago. Decker is a polled, big butted square-topped, very correct fella and lacking no hair.

Dmitry is one of the coolest bulls in the pen. Dark red, lots of pigment, a really nice disposition and moderate framed. His dam Virginia Dreamwest 50D is full sister to Virginia Jane West which is the mother to FGAF French Attack –and if you know anything about the breed, you know what he has done.
