Calving Ease Guide
Every year the most frequent question we receive is which bull will work on heifers. Well.....only you know your heifers and must consider breed composition and hybrid vigor - but we try our very best to evaluate each bull to assist you. We developed the following guideline for calving ease by evaluating many traits in making our recommendations:
• actual birth weight
• birth weight EPD
• Calving Ease and Maternal Calving Ease
• Dam’s past birth weight and calving records on progeny
• Sire’s birth weight and calving tendencies
• Bulls physical attributes
is Calving Ease Guide is our most accurate prediction based on the above mentioned criteria.
Calving Ease 1 Cow Bull - Recommended for mature females only. Not recommended for heifers.
Calving Ease 2 Recommended for use on larger, well grown heifers only, expect to assist some normal births from rst calf heifers.
Calving Ease 3 Recommended for heifers, easy calving with minimal assistance on normal births
Calving Ease 4 Highly recommended for heifers, expect little to no assistance on normal births

A WORD FROM OUR NUTRITIONIST

We are extremely proud to have worked with the Six Mile team to develop the nutrition program behind the bulls presented in this catalogue. A feeding program for breeding bulls is similar to many other aspects of a purebred operation — attention to detail always shows in the end. is program is built around a high-forage, high- ber, low-concentrate ration designed to promote strong skeletal structure and lean muscle development. e bulls have been fed a blend of greenfeed, grass hay, and corn ddg’s for additional protein. Finally, a customized supplement with chelated minerals and vitamins is provided to ensure their nutritional requirements are met. e on-farm environment at Six Mile further prepares these bulls to go out and work. Anyone who has toured the bull pen at Fir Mountain can attest to the spacious pen conditions. Each day, the bulls travel a considerable distance for feed and water before returning to their bed pack. is daily exercise routine, paired with adequate protein in the ration, helps develop the lean muscle you see in these bulls. -Jen Haisan 780-206-9198

One of my favourite bulls in the sale regardless of color or age. “Livingston 428M” has been a phenotypic standout through every stage of the game. He e ortlessly combines genuine muscle mass with a proud and athletic posture. He is balanced on paper with respectable, not extreme, genetic predictions.
e Helix sons were a hot commodity last spring in our 50th Annual Bull Sale with a large percentage of them nding their way into purebred operations. ey were respected for their foot size, shape and design coupled with added volume and muscle while o ering superior maternal worth.
Beauty 112H is youthful and sound with the incredible foot structure that the Diesel o spring became popular for. Her udder will last well into her teens with a tidy suspension and more than adequate milk production.
