to our 36th Northern Progress Bull Sale. There has never been a better time to retain heifers and cows and breed them to consistent easy calving bulls. We would like to invite all of our past, present and future customers to look over our 2026 group of Red Angus bulls. We really appreciate our Bull customers from the bottom of our hearts and will do everything in our ability to make your Bull buying an enjoyable and satisfying experience .
This year we have 40 strong well muscled yearlings that are very quiet and 25 vigorous well grown two year olds in our sale. All Bulls in the sale will have passed a semen check and sell with a 100% guaranty. A high percentage of our Bulls are recommended for heifers as we have always bred for low birthweights and consistency of calving ease but still with rapid growth and very good muscling.
We are again willing to keep Bulls at our farm until you are ready for them and deliver the Bulls to their new homes. We highly recommend that Bulls staying at RSL Red Angus farm after sale be insured by the new owners. We aim to please all customers by providing many ways to purchase your new Bull. You can attend Northern Progress Bull Sale in person and pick up the Bull or Bulls that will work best for you and enjoy our excellent before sale lunch and hospitality after the sale or if you are unable to attend the sale you can bid in the bulls on DLMS. Or on the phone with one our sale representatives or place an order on your choices with one of the very good sale reps. Just let me know. Something new for the sale this year. We will be selling four pens of five open yearling heifers. These heifers are purebred heifers from our own herd and sell without registration papers. Registration papers can be transferred for a fee of $100 per animal. All is well with health and happiness here at RSL. It is indeed a pleasure to welcome you to the 36 th Annual Northern Progress Bull Sale. This past year has seen the Canadian cattle Industry move ahead to a new level and many producers are keeping a few extra heifers to help grow the dwindling Canadian cow herd. Robert and family have once again put together a superior set of bulls that will fit well into many programs. The bulls that have been grown responsibly on a high roughage TMR ration. The fall born yearlings and 2-year bulls were held over specifically to compliment the yearling bulls on offer. They will cover more cows and work great in larger pastures.
There are definitely some Purebred Herd Sire prospects in the offering again this year. Calving ease has been RSL’s focus over the years but looking through the pens, you will see that the bulls might be calving ease but still carry the style, thickness and size to compete in all categories. Bulls from this program have worked well in a lot of breeding operation’s, both Purebred and commercial.

This year we raised the yearling bulls right to weaning with no creep. Just fall rye and grass pasture as well as RIO 360 tubs. Which really added excellent trace minerals as well as excellent gut health and very early stomach development. There is nothing more satisfying then watching bull calves eating cut feed and silage beside their mothers . Just laying and chewing their cud by the time they are 2 1/2 - 3 months old. After weaning they have been fed tub ground hay and full hay bales and pail fed twice a day a 13% high roughage pellet at about 1 % of their weight.

In Our two years old program we keep a lot of low birth weight calving ease bulls to serve the heifer breeding programs. These Bulls can breed many more animals in bigger pastures and still be a good herd bull prospect at the end of the season. The extra maturity makes it so that there is a lot more heifers bred once and move on rather than staying with the same female longer which limits the number of animals bred. The Two year old bulls are back rounded the first winter and put on grass in June til October. Then fed similar to the yearling bulls. Pail fed pellets as a percentage of their weight ( 1 - 1 1/4%). This gives them enough protein and energy to show their potential without over fattening them. They should be able to go out and work for many years for their new owners.

Long Yearling Bulls | Lot 62-65
Our Fall program that we have has been going since 1993. Was started with Fall born heifers bought from Ken Frazer to provide bulls with more maturity for breeding in larger groups or pastures. Be able to still hold their condition far better than the yearling if they are left out for a longer period. They are moderate frame size which is ideal for breeding heifers for many years. They are born mainly in August and spend the first winter on their mother’s milk without grass so that is why their WW are slightly less per day of age.

BIDDING: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder whenever there are two or more bids.
BIDDING DISPUTES: The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final.
TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash. The right property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements will be made with the clerks of the sale immediately following the conclusion of the sale and before any cattle will be released from the ranch.
PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be fed, watered, and cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable time.

INSURANCE: An insurance representative of a major livestock insurance company will be present to care for insuring cattle.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A certificate of registry and transfer will be furnished for
each animal sold as a registered animal, after settlement has been made.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Changes of information contained in the catalogue relating to the animals offered for sale will be announced from the auction box and such announcements shall take precedence over the printed matter in this catalogue.
BREEDER’S GUARANTEE: All animals sold are guaranteed breeders by the owner. Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within six months after the date of sale, if in healthy condition, may be returned to the seller at the buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the privilege of trying for a period of six months to prove the animal a breeder. The seller at his option may either return the purchase price to the buyer or replace the animal with another of equal quality in full settlement of ALL claims. Yearling bulls shall be guaranteed breeders for no more than twenty-five females. All complaints regarding
breeding difficulties must be reported in writing by the buyer to the seller within the specified time above, and any animal returned must be free from disease and in good health.
