Every time we seem to blink a year goes bye!
I’m not gonna lie…we were beyond humbled by the incredible turnout and interest at last year‘s sale. We are extremely grateful and appreciate everyone who phoned, took the time to drive out and look through the bulls and females, everyone who attended the sale, for our many DLMS viewers, bidders and buyers alike. Your interest in our program and continual support absolutely means everything to us. Thank you!
It was a stressful and physically challenging year. We kept our focus on providing the same high standards we have on our livestock and our desire to sell quality seed stock to producers. Each year we focus on bringing you the best and most consistent group of bulls, and select few heifers, and I’m happy to say we did it again and in a big way. Our walking bulls - Northern View Alpha 1L aka “Tommy,” HF Prestige 216J, HF Bermuda 179K, and MWC Longlight 69L did a fantastic job for us. We put a lot of time and care into selecting our walking bulls. All these bulls are known for their exceptional overall performance, foot quality, temperament, and honest outstanding traits. More sale highlights include three sons sired by Hoffman Thedford known for calving ease and overall performance. These three are extremely similar in appearance and overall design and have been favoured during summer tours. We also have progeny on offer from HF Tiger 5T, HF Kodiak 5R, SAV Renovation, Schiefelbein Showman 338, and a Brooking Emerald 9179 son that has been an absolute crowd favourite as well. And I can’t leave out my (and I mean my haha) 104A’s calf who is sired by HF Sold Out! Every single offering is one we stand behind and have met our high standards of quality.
Once again, we are very thankful and happy to welcome Danny and Lorinda from RR Forty. They have an impressive set of bulls on offer. We sure appreciate their friendship and enjoy working with them. Their bulls are known for their strong maternal traits and excellent performance making them a valuable addition to our sale.
This is year two of using our TMR mixer and we love it! Thankfully, we did get some silage for a pit and baled up some hay and straw bales. Chancey with Bullseye analyzed our feed and came up with a ration that would work for us allowing the momma cows, yearling sale bulls, and replacement heifers a good balanced nutrition program. It’s important to us to feed with longevity and fertility in mind as well as promoting their genetic potential. We like easy keepers and docility has always been extremely important to us.
Coffee is always on and Clint’s mom generously sends us cinnamon buns often so we look forward to hosting anyone who has time to make the drive out. The Bohrson Marketing team is always available for an honest appraisal of the bulls and females. We look forward each year to working with them, they are a great crew. Yancy Crosier from VJV Auction has also been instrumental in helping with marketing our entire program to the Peace Country. I want to give an extra big thanks to Mark, Joanne and the entire DLMS team. Through their vision and hard work they have certainly made an impact on how sales are conducted!

If you have been following along with our program you will notice our obsession with using HF Tiger. We feel he is one of the most consistent bulls we have used. Calves are born small and early, they have great growth to them, and his daughters mature into excellent cows. 2506 is out of a flush on our Edwards 20C donor cow, an SAV Harvestor daughter that never missed. She would bring an excellent calf every fall just a faultfree cow. We feel 2506 will work great on heifers and I would keep every daughter off him to put in the replacement pen.

HF Kodiak 5R was the first straws of semen we ever bought at a sale roughly 15 years ago. It took us that long to finally smarten up and use them, or it could have been I dropped them into the bottom of the nitrogen tank, and they floated around the tank for 10 years before we fished them out! Either way we have them now, and wow what a great calf he produced. This guy has been a standout since birth. His dam is a smaller cow and, in the fall he was 2/3 of her size. She did a wonderful job of raising her first calf and still rebred back on the first cycle.

2511 would be a ¾ brother to the 2510 bull. He is a little more moderate-framed to him and just has a softer look. Kodiak has produced numerous big-time bulls such as HF Tiger and SooLine Motive. He consistently produces functional females that just plain work, while at the same time keeps the birth weights moderate.
Remember the Aerosmith song “Dude Looks like a Lady” well this dude was supposed to be a ladyand to our surprise at birth we had a bull calf! We had bought female sexed embryos hoping to get some heifers, but it didn’t work that way. We still love him and he is grown into an absolute stud. The four granddams in this guy’s pedigree are legends in the Angus industry and whoever ends up with this guy on sale day is getting a really good bull.

Unfortunately, this is the last of our Ring Creek donor cow embryos, these cows have had such a great influence on our herd. 43X was an excellent Tiger daughter that had great feet and produced the top of the pen calves every year. We crossed her with Showman who also has produced topnotch calves for us 100% of the time. The result is a bull that could easily start the sale for us.

Doesn’t the name Thedford make you happy? This bull is going to make everyone smile. These calves come as easy and quick as any we have had in years. The growth of this calf was exceptional - 77lb birthweight with an over 800lb weaning weight! If you are looking for a heifer bull, circle this one! You aren’t going to find many with this kind of spread.

As we just stated in the last bull’s footnotes, look at the spread on these calves. 2519 is just as good or even better than his brother, depending on the day. Another heifer bull that not only has great numbers but has the look to go along with it. We are very excited about these Thedford bulls and plan on using more of him in the future.
Here is a maternal brother to the 2517 bull a few pages back in the catalog. We chose to flush 43X to SAV Renovation just because of all the excellent Reno daughters we have seen in our travels. We did end up with a few heifers out of this flush and you will see more from them in the future. This bull is turning out exactly how we expected - another bull that is going to produce excellent daughters for your replacements.

Our third Thedford son in the sale and just like his brothers. He is a heifer bull with a large weaning weight. This bull is a little bit lighter, but he is put together the same as the other two. An excellent foot and these Thedford sons are always paying attention to what’s going on in the heifer pen. We feel he will be an excellent breeder.

I can hear the complaints already on whoever is lucky enough to get this guy. “I can’t fit very many calves in my stock trailer” “I have an income tax problem, my calves are worth too much”. Champagne problems! The combination of Emerald with Showman has produced a bull with as much power and potential as any we have raised. This guy has been hard to miss since the day he was born. Once again, there are some excellent cows in his pedigree. He walks on excellent feet and if you’re looking to tick up your frame size, this guy will do the job for you.

We are very excited about our first crop of Alpha calves. We went down to Duff, SK to tour Troy and Amy Frick’s ranch this summer, very nice herd of cattle and very good people. I consider Troy one of the best footnote writers in the business, his catalog is a must read. The Alpha calves are super long, which adds a bit of birth weight, but I have always thought length is an easy way to get calves to weigh up in the fall.

Well, this bull comes out of my favourite cow in the herd. HF Rosebud 212H is an absolutely beautiful cow. She was injured a year and a half ago and we didn’t think she was even going to be able to raise a calf, but she did. She is almost back to 100% now, but she is headed to the donor pen after this year. This bull is one that I would use on heifers, 212H really lowers the birthweight on her calves.

Another big, long son out of Northern View Alpha. This guy comes out of a very powerful Stunner female that did a fabulous job on her second calf. His maternal sister sold in the Ladies of the West sale in Innisfail this December and was purchased by Northern View Angus.

The first crop of Long Light calves this year, he is an Ellingson Hi-Range son. Hi-Range boasts an excellent foot and low birth weight, which caused a lot of excitement in the Angus industry. 2560’s dam is a young Tiger female that really put her work boots on, weaning a 800lb+ calf. This has been one of my favourites in the pen since weaning.

Every team needs someone to go in the tough areas and get the puck, dig it out of the corners, stand in front of the net and get cross checked. Well this fellow will do all that for you. He lost his mom in the summer out on drought-stricken pasture, but he came in at weaning time looking good. He weighed a bit lighter than he should have but still respectable. We decided to keep him because his Mom was such a good cow. He has thrived all winter and we think he will do a great job for someone. HF BERMUDA 179K 2263477
As time goes on we are starting to see Showman females rise to the top. This young female is rising to the top in our herd. She really puts a lot of energy into raising her calf. She is not a large cow, but in the fall came in with a large bull calf at her side. 2568 is a big soggy bull and really mirrors his sire.

Our HF Bermuda bull is like a fine wine, he just keeps getting better with age. I’ve watched him mature over the years, and every season he impresses me a little more. He throws calves with moderate birth weights, but don’t let that fool you, these calves grow into athletic, hard-working cattle that will cover a lot of ground in your herd. They might not be the biggest in the pen, but they’re the kind that get the job done, year after year. If you want a bull that brings steady results and keeps your herd moving, this Bermuda son is the one to watch.

This bull has been near the top of the pen all year, and I’ve really enjoyed watching him mature. He’s got the kind of makeup that just stands outsolid, balanced, and ready to go to work. Anna picked up his mom out of the Angus Collection sale from Hamilton’s, and she’s turned out to be a real gem - a Showman daughter who’s done everything right. I always think of that old Mark Twain quote: “Good judgment comes from experience”, and experience comes from owning a bull like this. When I was young, I would watch a lot of Flintstones, well Fred and Barney would get themselves in a pickle and would need help. They would call for the Great Gazoo andPoof! - this arrogant little alien would pop out of thin air. He would always greet them with “Hello dum-dums what do you want?” He would always try to help them and get them out of their predicament. I always thought “wouldn’t it be great to have a Gazoo you could call on the farm when things weren’t going well or you needed help making a decision?” I know for a fact that when this bull comes on the block sale day, if the Great Gazoo was sitting on your shoulder he would say “Buy the bull dum-dum”.

We don’t have a lot of Longlight bulls this year, but I have to say, I’m really impressed with this guy’s sire - his foot looks really good. This bull is the kind you want for your heifers. His mom is a young Prestige cow who absolutely knocked it out of the park with her first calf. He’s got the look, the build, and the attitude to go out and do a great job for someone. 2590 Prestige marks the end of an era for us - he’s our very last Prestige son, and I’ll admit, it’s a bittersweet feeling. Some bulls you wish you could use forever, but the quest for fresh genetics keeps us moving forward. I remember when Prestige first came into our program. His calves always had that unmistakable look, and you could pick them out in the pen from day one. They weren’t just good-looking, they were consistent, easy to work with, and always seemed to have a little extra “try” in them.
As you get towards the end of the footnotes your mind is numb you are totally out of ideas and you really start repeating yourself. This younger bull has all the potential his older brothers have, just hasn’t had as much time to take advantage of it. Make sure you don’t miss out on him.

If Paul Harvey was still around, he’d say, “Here’s the rest of the story.” We’ve had our eye on Remitall’s 104A cow for years. Her first calf from their 2016 bull sale turned out fantastic, but we lost him way too soon. Anna used to bug Richard about selling 104A, and he’d just laugh and say no. Last year, Richard and his family decided to disperse their purebred herd and sold everything privately to Lindskovs in South Dakota. Anna kept nudging me to ask about 104A, but I played it cool and told her she was sold. What she didn’t know was I’d already made a deal with Richard, and 104A was actually her Christmas present. She was excited - it’s hard to surprise her, especially with Christmas gifts, since she usually figures them out within hours. This cow just had her 12th calf and was the 5th to calve this year. She looks amazing, with excellent feet and udder. The bull we’re offering has been a standout since birth, and you can see the quality and longevity passed down from his dam. Take him home, and you’ll look pretty smart. And now you know the rest of the story.

Rio Grande Ladies
It’s very common in the purebred business to be searching for the next greatest bull but we often forget about the great bulls from the past. Well HF Kodiak 5R is one of the greats, and we made an asserted effort a couple years ago to go back to some proven greats. A “Back to the Future” female and, no, we aren’t in the DeLorean doing 88 miles an hour with Marty! But what we are doing is making very sound and functional females that have been proven for the last 20 years. This girl is going to go out and make one heck of a cow and be an anchor in your herd for many years.

I know it’s wrong but we do want to sell out of the top of our pen so here is your chance to own a Tiger heifer. This is a female that represents a lot of the genetics we have been using in the last 5 years. She has a double shot of Showman on the top and bottom of her pedigree. She is a heifer that really mirrors her dam in appearance and the Prestige daughters in our herd we really like and they are maturing into really excellent cows.

2025 year in review...
Tyler & Sydney were married on October 4. It was an absolutely beautiful fall wedding! Sydney has been a part of our family for a long time and to make it official with our family and friends bearing witness with us - we were truly overjoyed! We were also happy that they did get a break after a super busy year and honeymooned in Maui! They had a wonderful time.
Another very special event for this couple was they bought their first quarter of land at Rio Grande and grew barley. Tyler is now the 4th generation of Collins to farm. These two (I will say 3 haha because their handsome snuggly dog Toby is never far behind) had many adventures this year and a lot of hard work was done. They both hold down full time jobs and are more often than not at the farm helping with equipment and the never ending jobs!
Wyatt, Kenzie & Jackson made the trip from Victoria in March and we were thrilled to have them for 2 weeks - Jackson’s first bull sale! These guys travelled back and forth from here to the Island a few times. Wyatt has finished his masters and is red sealed in BC and Alberta. He has started his own company, West Wire, and has
kept busy in both provinces. Keep him in mind for your electrical needs!
July 16 was Jackson’s first birthday! It was a very fun party and he had a blast - including a “cake smash”! I tell you, being a grandparent means everything to us. When we hear his feet coming down the hallway at the house and see his always-smiling face, we are undeniably the happiest people in the world. This guy is smart like nobody’s business, an overload of handsome /adorable, super kind-hearted, outdoorsy and loves to drive everything. Kenzie has her work cut out for her! With seemingly endless energy, Kenzie handles whatever comes her way, she bakes, gardens, cans, makes her own lotions, sunscreen and cleaning products. Jackson loves all the adventures they have. They are excellent parents.
Faith, our youngest, had a very awesome year. We are always so thankful to have her come home before the bull sale and get all the animals tuned up. She delivered bulls locally for us and her and Clint made some further trips - father/daughter time. Faith kept busy doing private clipping and showmanship clinics all around us, and one clinic in central Alberta. She also had the honour of judging 4 Achievement Day show and sale events. As sad as we

were to see her leave, a great opportunity came up and off she went to Saskatchewan and since early June she has worked for Wilbar Cattle Co. near Dundurn, Saskatchewan. As parents you hope your kids enjoy their jobs and are cared for and appreciated. We miss her a lot but we have not worried at all that she is happy and living her absolute best life in Saskatchewan with the Willms family. She did manage to sneak away with girlfriends to tour SAV and spend a few fun filled days taking in some local events in North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. Fall was really busy but fun for her with show prep, fall shows, and female sales. This capable young lady love everything cows!
This was definitely one of the harder years that we have faced. Extremely dry conditions that we have never seen in this area and well below our normal rainfall, forest fires around us again this summerwe were very uncertain how this year was going to turn out. We were able to pasture cattle near home as usual. We are extremely grateful for our neighbours on each side of us accommodating us. Hay that was too short to cut and bale and crop that could never be harvested saved us. Every year leads us to be more and more resourceful. We did chop barley for a silage pit
this year, it ran 2 tons/acre, and we did manage to get some hay and straw bales.
During harvest, we were extremely thankful to have the kids help and Ashley has been with us for a long time and Clarks help as well. Our crops were short and definitely was a challenge picking them up, the older we get the worst we see lol. Nice to have young guys around.
They say misery needs company and we were not in this alone! There were so many of our friends, neighbors, fellow producers in the entire area that were in the same boat. We did take time in the summer to talk to people more than normal, it should be something we always do but talking to people brings comfort and we reminded ourselves often that we are a lot more blessed than most...it’s not what you have, but who you have.
We did sneak away to visit Faith once in Saskatchewan for a few days and tour cattle at Wilbar, Northern View, and Duralta! We enjoyed our trip very much, thank you for the wonderful visits.
As the year wound down we always reflect on what went right...and why we do what we do. It definitely is a good life! We remain thankful and are filled with hope.

On behalf of myself and Lorinda, I would like to welcome everyone to the 5th Annual Rio Grande bull and Female Sale. As I write this, I am reflecting on the highs and lows of 2025. From watching my beautiful partner go through the fight of her life and really not being able to help her, to the special day when she got to ring the bell at the end of her treatment and go back to work. Stressing about how I was going to graze our cows past July, and where the feed was going to come from to get them through the winter, then selling $4,050 steer calves and having a couple heifers selected for the Northern Select Angus Sale in November! 2025 has been a rollercoaster ride!
I really need to thank so many people for their support. Robbie Binks and Pat Stark are two great friends and neighbors who took care of everything on the farm when we had to be gone for Lorinda’s appointments last spring. Darren, Brody and Shrene Hawkes, Rick and Kathy Leger help out so much and I can’t thank you enough. Glenn Fells and Brady Fraser are always there to help and I truly appreciate it. I was fortunate to be able to partner up with Jim and Donna Rowe a few years ago on a few cows. It has truly brought us amazing friends who really make us feel more like family and I can’t thank you enough for all of your help, guidance and support.

A wise man told me when I started out - raise top quality females and the bulls will naturally be good. I have tried to focus on this statement, and I feel our heifer pen is getting better every year. We were rewarded this past November by selling two heifers in the Northern Select Sale. A big thank you to Jessie and Miranda Emery of Dwajo Angus and Ian and Joesephine of Linden Cattle Company for purchasing our heifers.

We are super excited to be Auctioning off Valentine again this year to raise money for the Sorrentino’s Compassion House. Both Lorinda and I are very passionate about the Compassion House, after our experience staying there. A very special thanks to the Bear Creek Veterinary Clinic for donating her back, so we can do it again. She weaned off her mom JLO at 720lbs at the beginning of September and her January 10 weight was 986lbs. We really want to thank everyone who particapated last year, it was overwhelming to see the support. We can’t thank you enough.

EDWARDS ALETA 421K
421K is a partnership cow with our good friends at Lakeroad Angus. She is the smallest cow we have on the farm and probably the sweetest too. She needs to be scratched everytime you go out to check. Her first daughter calved the same day as her mother this spring and they both had nice bull calves. So that tells me that she has very strong maternal values. These Sanchez calves were born with a little bit higher birth weights but are going to add pounds to your calves.
RR FORTY ALCATRAZ 5N
5N has been a stand out since birth, which is becoming normal from his mom 58J. 5N is her third calf and the first two have been rock stars. Her first calf was a heifer who is working in our herd. Her second son, 6M, sold last year to ES Cattle Company and we used him heavy in our herd. He got 23 cows, which all calved in 32 days. Her calf this year is a bull calf out of our herd sire DMM 38L and is following in his brother’s footsteps. HF Alcatraz is known for his calving ease, performance, and docility. Alcatraz females are flat out good and I would retain everyone of them.

RR FORTY ALCATRAZ 8N
HF 84H has done it again. She has two heifers working in my herd, and her first bull calf, a Mercurry son, sold to Dareen Hawkes in 2025. 8N has a little more birthweight, but was born 5 days late from his due date. I love the females off 84H and I am planning on flushing her to some sexed female semen this spring. She is flat out good and her mating with Alcatraz should be a wise choice for any herd to add pounds and create great replacements.
RR FORTY 9N
I purchased 55J as heifer calf from the Mar Mac Dispersal near Brandon, Manitoba. I asked my good friend Jason McQuaig to look at the videos of the heifer calves and 55J was his pick. I don’t like to admit it, but he has a great eye. She is a very moderate-made cow with a near-perfect udder and I bred her to Sanchez to add some performance. These Sanchez calves have lots of power and should add pounds on the calves. This spring she has a heifer calf that has risen to the top of the 2026 calves.
RR FORTY 23N
23N is one of the youngest calves we have ever kept for a bull. He was just too good not to keep. He was born Feb 25 and his September weaning weight was 760lbs being a solid month younger then the rest. His Musgrave Stunner mother is a third calver and has had one bull sold through this sale and her first daughter calved a few weeks ago. 111J is very moderate-made and is super thick and deep and is a very easy keeper.
Compassion House
As Lorinda’s partner, when the word Cancer was spoken, alot of things and emotions ran through my mind. One thing I couldn’t navigate was how could I afford a hotel or somewhere for her to stay if she had to be away for treatments as well as, how do I work and run the farm. Fortunately, Shrene Hawkes and Colleen Binks suggested the Sorrentino’s Compassion House.
After spending a few nights at the Sorrentino’s Compassion House in Edmonton on Lorinda’s Cancer Journey, it really felt like home. The love and support you feel from the staff as well the other guests going thru their own battles is just unimaginable.
This is a place where I felt comfortable if I had to leave her there for an extended period of time. She would receive as good as, if not better care, than I could have provided her. They would have taken her to and from appointments as well as taken her for groceries - all after providing her with a very nice room to stay with a private bathroom. All for $35/night. If I stayed with her, was $45/night. I was able to stay there while she was in the hospital for surgery. Sorrentino’s Compassion House is completely run of donations. If there is someone that can’t afford to stay there, they are never turned away.
With the support that we have received from the Peace Country and all over Alberta; Lorinda and I were so overwhelmed with the support that our fundraiser received last year, it still brings tears to my eyes. And we can’t thank the Bear Creek Animal Clinic for donating Valentine back so we could do it again.
We will be offering Valentine by Dutch Auction again this year. She was born February 13, 2025, weaned off her mom September 6, 2025 at 722lbs and weighed 984lbs on January 8, 2026. She is being spoiled at our good friends Jim and Donna Rowe’s of Lakeroad Angus. We are willing to keep her and AI her to a top-end Angus bull. This would be done beginning of April. I also will purchase her back for the fundraiser or work with you to keep her and calve her out.

Our family has been raising Angus cross cattle in Arras, BC for 18 years. More recently, we have focused our breeding program toward growing low maintenance, resilient replacement heifers that produce quality calves and will stay in the herd long term.
Since 2014 Rio Grande bulls have been the foundation of our breeding program, playing an essential role in the success of our herd. We are incredibly grateful for Clint and Anna’s dedication to breeding high-quality cattle.

Sight Unseen Purchase Program If you are unable to attend the sale but are interested in our bulls, please give us a call and we will personally go over the bulls and your program with you. We can recommend which bulls we think would meet your satisfaction and refer you to one of our sales staff.
Delivery
• $100 off per lot if animal(s) are taken home sale day.
• Free delivery in Alberta and British Columbia. Cost shared to any other destination.
• Delivery will begin approximately March 25 at the seller’s convenience.
• Bulls staying on the farm after the sale must be insured.
Herd Health The bulls were vaccinated in April and again in September with Bovishield Gold 5, Ultrabac 7/ Somubac. Bulls were treated with Ivomec pour-on early October and again mid January. At birth all bull calves receive Inforce 3 intranasally.
Conditions & Guarantee All entries sell with a responsible breeder guarantee of satisfaction. In the event of any unlikely dispute whatever, regular Terms and Conditions recognized with Sales Management shall apply, and in accordance with the Canadian Aberdeen Angus Association Code of Ethics.
Announcements Errors discovered in the catalog will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.
Every Animal Sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the Auctioneer’s decision will be final.
Release No cattle will be released until the conclusion of the sale. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
Insurance Ownership risk to purchaser commences when the Auctioneer’s hammer falls. Livestock coverage will be available at the Clerk’s desk from the appointed representatives on sale day.
Terms The terms of sale are cash or cheques. Cheques should be handed to Clerks immediately following sale. Record your transfer instructions with Clerks along with complete directions to your farm for delivery.
Transfer Of Pedigrees The buyer will be provided a pedigree for the registered bulls or females transferred in the books of the Canadian Angus Association.
