Cornel Tschetter and the team at Rain Rock Cattle, located near Wanham, Alberta, are deeply committed to building Black Angus genetics that are measured, proven, and continually improving. After eight years of serious genetic development, we are preparing for our second annual Extra Age Bull Sale on March 6, 2026, and are excited to once again share our progress with our loyal customers—and to welcome new ones into the program. Our vision is clear: to produce heavy-hanging carcasses at the packing plant at peak performance, all within the Black Angus breed. Operating in an environment that can bring up to six months of winter and, at times, harsh conditions, it is critical that our genetic profile is up to the task— hardy, resilient, and able to convert feed with exceptional efficiency. We operate a registered purebred herd that delivers directly into our 1,000+ commercial herd, finish every calf we raise, and believe strongly that we can only manage what we can measure.
Through full genomic parentage on every animal, carcass data from the packing plant is closed back to each sire and dam. This feedback loop cannot be overstated—it allows us to accurately rank our cattle, make disciplined selection decisions, and continually evolve the most effective genetic profile we have ever pursued.
The results are unmistakable. Our own gene-pool feeder calves outperform every other group that moves through our feedlot—and it’s not even close. These outcomes are built on clear cornerstones: excellent disposition, longevity, solid bone structure, superior foot quality, and— where extra credit is due—exceptional maternal mothers that anchor the entire program.
Cows calve in May and June, bulls are sorted at least four times throughout development, and we do not creep feed. Instead, bulls are developed slowly on a high-roughage ration, allowing true genetic growth potential to surface honestly and in alignment with real-world conditions.

Terms and Conditions
Visits
The Bulls are available for viewing at Rain Rock Cattle located 6 miles east of Wanham, AB on Hwy 49 and 5 miles north on Range Rd 24 at any time between Monday-Friday, 9am-7pm. Open House will be Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Ranch.
Insurance
Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as the bull is sold. We recommend bulls staying at the Ranch for any length of time be insured. There are plenty of insurance options available to buyers to help with that. Reach out to Jill Wildman at 780-305-1146 for all your insurance needs.
Delivery
We will deliver bulls free of charge to central points in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan via scheduled deliveries. Any costs farther east will be cost shared with the buyer proportional to the distance from the nearest free delivery point. Any bulls not shipped on scheduled delivery runs will be buyers’ responsibility.
USA Deliveries
Rain Rock Cattle will assist in organizing exports to the US with all associated costs buyer responsibility. RainRock Cattle guarantees all sale cattle to pass health requirements to the USA.
Terms
Payment info will be included with invoicing sent to buyers. Cheque, ACH Direct Deposit, and E-Transfers are options. Payment must be made prior to delivery and right of property does not pass to buyer until full settlement has been made. All transactions in Canadian Funds. Bull Warranty
Rain Rock Cattle does not warranty against injury or illness after the sale. We guarantee that our bulls are semen tested, inspected for soundness and viability by a licensed Veterinarian. We stand behind all bulls being sold to be able to provide service. Any bull failing to meet breeding capability must be returned to us at our fuel cost expense for one of the following warranty options after vet inspection:
1. Bull replacement of equal value.
2. Buyer collects salvage value and credit balance at next sale.
3. Rain Rock Cattle collects salvage value and Buyer collects full credit at next sale.
Retained Interest
Rain Rock Cattle will retain an in-herd interest for all bulls sold.
How to participate in the DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auction with Extended Bidding:
1. Visit https://farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to sign up for a free user account and it allows you to select a user name and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.
2. You can choose your favorite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Anytime there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.
3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if someone else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maxiumum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will not longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.
4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minutes if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after 6 PM MST will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished.
5. Within 24 hours of the sale close DLMS will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and deliver/pickup of your lot. If you require assistance with using the DLMS Farm Gate website, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list, if you can’t figure out the proxy bid or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team or Rain Rock Cattle.
WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE SALE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone into extended bidding.
HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORK? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and gives all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
