Pieschel Farms continue to develop a top-end program with the mother cow being the success of the program. When touring the farms over the years, you can count on just that. Welcome to the second annual Piro and Pieschel Bull Sale! We at Dr. Andy’s Animal Clinic are so excited to work alongside Pieschel’s and see the beginnings of their own bull sale coming together.

The great people at Pieschel’s do an exceptional job of caring for all their cattle and we have nothing but good things to say about their program.

There is a strong herd health program in place that sets these bulls up for success. Starting with the mother cows who will receive a killed IBR/BVD vaccine, 8 way vaccine and scour vaccine prior to calving. The bulls will have received 2 doses of Bovilis Nasalgen, One shot BVD, and Vision 8 Somnus, once in the springtime and again at weaning.

Prior to the bull sale we will have completed a physical exam and semen evaluation of all bulls offered. Each bull will be assessed to determine soundness, body condition score, and to be free of external visible defects. The semen evaluation includes physical palpation of the internal sex glands, testicles and epididymis and a visual exam of the penis during semen collection. A scrotal measurement is taken to ensure that each bull measures above the minimum scrotal requirements. The semen is evaluated for motility and morphology and all bulls present at the sale will have received a passing grade of 70% or a decision deferred which means they will be reassessed and confirmed to pass prior to leaving the farm.

Welcome to the second annual Piro and Pieschel Bull Sale! We at Maverick Large Animal Vet Services are proud to hold a long-time partnership with the Zoller family. We have been working alongside Piro Red Angus since the very beginning, as they were one of our first clients when Maverick Large Animal Veterinary Services started in 2012. We have always been impressed with the overall health, body condition, nutritional status, maturity, and attractive eye appeal of their herd, and recognize the ongoing investment that the Zoller family puts into their program. The Piro breeding stock has accelerated performance and quality, which compliments the bull herd come semen testing time. Prior to the bull sale, we individually examine each bull for physical soundness and conformation, as well as reproductive soundness. This includes scrotal measurements and semen collection and evaluation. If there are any questions that arise regarding this process or the individual results of any bull, we would be happy to answer them. Welcome and thank you for joining us for the 2nd Annual PIRO & Pieschel Bull Sale.

Last year’s sale was a tremendous success, and we truly appreciate the support and continued partnership from our customers and friends. We’re excited to build on that momentum and are proud to welcome you back for another great year to be in the cattle industry.

Here at PIRO, we run approximately 240 registered purebred cows, along with a handful of blacks. Through vigorous culling and a strict selection process, we are offering 47 bulls in this year’s sale. Our bulls are selected primarily on the history and proven track record of their dams. Females must be sound, structurally correct, and demonstrate excellent udder quality, strong foot structure, and longevity. Because of this focus, we are extremely proud of our 2026 bull offerings.

Management and development are important to us. Our bulls are weaned off the cow in mid-September, are never creep fed, and no bulls have had their feet trimmed. We believe this allows the bulls to develop naturally and gives buyers a more accurate picture of how they will perform in real-world conditions.

We are also pleased to offer open commercial heifers from our longtime, repeat customers at Hopper Farms. We find it important to show new buyers our genetics at work, and these heifers are a great example of the consistency and quality we strive for.

All bulls stay out on grass with their dam until the first part of September when we wean them where they are pale fed a super oats feed ration and on free choice hay. Our bulls have never seen creep feed and have not had their feet trimmed. All the bulls are docile and easy to be around.

6 commercial simm-angus, born in March to April. These heifers are DNA verified out of Pieschel farms bulls, as well had a full vaccination at branding as well as this fall after weaning. These heifers are from moderate framed dames, that are backed by years of herdtrax data to perform well in the feedlot, and create our farms best made females.

We have been using only PIRO Red Angus bulls for many years as a part of our heifer breeding program.
