Welcome to the 6th annual On Target Bull Sale!

What year it has been! It’s wonderful to see prices still holding out for cattle producers. Mother Nature sure hasn’t been very cooperative with us this winter to get bull pictures and videos done! We had such a nice start to January, and I’m sure that she heard of our plans for picture days; she made our days down right miserable but we pushed through. It was -25*C temperatures and we finally got them done!

This year we are happy to welcome our friends from Double Coulee Farm from Glen Ewen, SK (Darryl & Cheryl Scott and family) into the sale along with Mosside Shorthorns, Me ‘N My Shorthorns (Sadie and Ryan) and ourselves, Anwender Cattle Company.

We’re offering a great set of bulls again this year and 3 open heifers from the top of the heifer pen.  We feel that there is definitely something for everyone. Our bulls are pail fed and modestly fed. We aren’t all about numbers… The numbers are there, as tools, to help with making your own decisions.

Welcome to the 2026 edition of the On Target Sale! We are excited to offer a group of upcoming herd sires for your appraisal. This year, we have 3 bulls sired by our herdsire, Mosside Defender 51J. Defender’s progeny are proving to be a combination of performance and eye appeal. His calves sold at the Douglas Bull Test Station have been the Pick of the Peers, highest indexing and high sellers. At Ag Ex ‘25, he sired the Grand Champion Heifer Calf, Reserve Grand Bull Calf, Get of Sire as well as Champion Pair of Bulls and Breeder’s Herd. Defender has made his mark, and it’s looking like calves are going to do the same. We think very highly of these bulls and know they will excel in meeting the demands of today’s cattle industry. All coming from hardworking cows and a proven sire, these bulls are set up for success in commercial herds. The bulls are available for viewing at Anwender Cattle Company and don’t hesitate to reach out with any inquiries!

We are Darryl and Cheryl Scott. We are Double Coulee Farm. We live south of Glen Ewen, SK. where Darryl is the 5th generation to continue mixed farming and raising a family. We’ve had a commercial herd of primarily simmental cattle for over 30 years.

In the past few years we’ve added shorthorns, and really appreciate the many qualities they’ve added to both our commercial herd, and our small purebred operation. We hope you appreciate our offerings to the sale as much as we do.

We will try our utmost to deliver sale animals to your gate in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Some animals may have to be delivered to central locations. Bulls can be kept free of charge to buyer until April 15, 2026 at Anwender Cattle Company- $5 per day thereafter.

EXPORT

US buyers: Sellers guarantee that all animals are exportable to the USA or a full refund will be issued. Please see the terms and conditions for more information regarding transportation and costs.

IN-HERD SEMEN

The consignors reserve the right to collect semen on any bull sold through this sale. Semen collected will be at the seller’s expense and buyers convenience. Semen collected will be for in-herd use only HEALTH

All bulls will be scrotal measured and palpated and bulls over 12 months of age will be semen tested. Bulls under 12 months of age at time of testing will be semen tested prior to delivery

- All bulls were treated with Ivomec pour on at weaning and Clean-Up and Safe Guard in December 2025. They will also be given both shots of Fusoguard prior to delivery.

- Dams of all bulls have been tested free from Johnes Disease

Here’s a maternal brother to last year’s high selling purebred bull, purchased by Bender Shorthorns. His dam, 41K, has a great uddder and is proving she can raise the good ones! Her 2026 calf is looking like he will rise to the top as well! 41K is one of our top young cows. And add in the legendary Rockstar on the top side, we believe he will add maternal value to any herd, while lowering their gestation as well. Growth and power are two words we like to describe 2N.

We feel he has the potential to be used on heifers, with his short gestation of 276 days Coming from the Baroness family, we are confident he will produce desirable females in any herd. Scurred.

We’ve been very happy with our Lord Belmore progeny. Here is another calving ease candidate out of a first calf heifer. What a unique indivdual here! He’s caught our eye since he hit the ground. He’s wide-based and loose-hided. I have sold numerous maternal siblings to this guy that have went on to do good things in other operations. While Marshmallow may not quite have the frame of some of the other bulls in the sale, he’s always been up there in performance numbers. His dam is now 14 this year and just barely showing age. Her granddam was the infamous Diamond First Elsie 1F. I’m confident with the colour on each side that this guy will be a blue-maker! 7/8 Shorthorn. Gestation: 286 days

This bull has a commanding presence that turned more than few heads and generated a lot of rumblings at Ag Ex where he was named reserve champion bull calf. Terms and Conditions

under which this sale will operate

Terms: The terms are cash, unless other arrangements are made with the seller before the sale. All payments must be made to the respective owner and no release of animals will be given until satisfactory settlement has been made.

Bids: The highest bidder shall be the buyer. Every animal must be transferred to a new owner by the seller. Risk: All animals are at the purchaser’s risk as soon as the closing of sale.

Errors: If errors are noted in the catalogue, announcements made via Farm Gate Timed Auctions will take precedence.

Certificates: Each purebred Shorthorn animal is recorded in the Herd Book of the Association. Certificates of Registry and Transfer will be recorded by the seller and furnished to the purchaser free of charge.

Shipping: Assistance will be given in loading and shipping animals, but no risk is assumed by seller. In shipping, the buyer shall make the arrangements with the trucker, with the assistance from the seller if need be, with no risk to the seller.

Export: Sellers gurantee that all animals are exportable to the USA, or a full refund will be issued. $350 USD will be added to the invoice of each live animal sold to the USA, to help cover the costs of health testing and other paperwork. The seller will arrange to have done and pay veterinary testing costs. The cost of transportation from the crossing as well as any brokerage fees and other miscellaneous costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Sellers will assist in finding transportation for the animal(s).

Warranties: (1) Each owner warrants clear title to the progeny and right to sell the same.

(2) Unless otherwise noted in the catalogue or announced via Farm Gate Timed Auctions, each animal is sold as sound.

(3)BULLS: are sold as being able to serve after reaching 15 months of age. Should any bull not meet this requirement within 2 months, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller, who shall then have 3 months to prove the bull’s ability to meet the requirement to leave a minimum of 5 cows settled in calf, before refunding the purchase price. In no case shall the seller be responsible for more than the sale price of the animal.

(4) Above warranties cease when the animal is disposed of by the original purchaser.

Health Status: The Health papers shall be provided for each animal when required. Such health papers must carry the health status as required by the Canada Department of Agriculture, or the state, or the province to which the animal is going.
