Moose Jaw 4-H Beef Club has 17 members ranging from 6-18 years of age. The club has 14 steers in the sale. Additonally, the members has 13 heifer projects and 2 cow calf pairs. The club focuses on agriculture tours, skills development and having a great time throughout the year. Steers were weighed out on May 17 and the club hosted Acheivement Day on June 6 at Haggerty Livestock. A big thank to you our past steer buyers!

Longlaketon Multiple 4-H Club
The Longlaketon Multiple Beef project group had a busy year! We talked about feeding and nutrition for our project animals and weighed them at the beginning of the year. We set goals for our steer weights and discussed how much they would need to gain a day to achieve this and whether that goal would be realistic to achieve, all the members had very realistic goals! We also had a very informative tour at Babco Meats by Bethune in February. In March the kids learnt about the process of AI’ing cows and in April they learnt about low stress cattle handling. Lots of the members also attended the Yorkton Spring Steer and Heifer Show in April. In May the members had a demo day where they learnt more about Clipping, Grooming, and Showmanship, and had their judging competition and weighed their animals. The members had A fun-filled year and learned lots along the way!

When my heifer Lisa isn’t playing her saxophone, she is busy gaining weight nicely. I had a great time at the Yorkton Spring Steer and Heifer Show in April. My name is Joey Mack, and this is my 6 year in 4-H. Homer is my second 4-H Steer Project. Homer is the boss of our 4-H pen of animals; Marge, Lisa, Maggie and Bart. They are one big happy family. Homer weighed in on May 31 at 974 lbs and plans to sit around eating grassy donuts until Moose Jaw Sale day. I always enjoy showing at Yorkton Spring Steer and Heifer Show. When I’m not working with my steer, you can find me in the coop with my 4-H Poultry project or in the arena riding Tater. This year I was part of the Beef, Light Horse, Poultry and Trades Projects.
