Code of Conduct The Manitoba Sheep Association Show & Sale is a family-oriented event that showcases the sheep industry on a provincial level. Professional, courteous and kind behavior toward all participants and attendees is expected at all times. Unprofessional or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in the offending parties immediate removal from the event and /or their suspension from the MSA.
Announcement Information contained herein is presented on behalf of the seller. The MSA cannot guarantee the information to be correct or assume the liabilities for errors and omissions. Buyers should verify the information to their own satisfaction. Any announcements made from the auction block on the day of the auction will take precedence over any matter in print and will be final. Consignors are strongly encouraged to bring verification for all genotyping and genetic evaluation results published in the catalog.
Terms & Conditions Order of sale: • Breeds will sell in the same order that they are listed in the show catalog (alphabetical) • within each breed, the sale order will be Champion Ewe, Yearling ewes, Senior ewe lambs,Junior ewe lambs, Champion Ram, Yearling rams, Senior ram lambs, Junior ram lambs. • Within each class, animals will be sold by order of their placing in the show. •
Health & Soundness: All animals will be rigidly culled by the attending veterinarian and the inspection committee. Please inspect your animals carefully at home. The following list outlines some of the undesirable physical traits that will serve as cause for an animal to be culled but does not exclude other reasons that an animal may be culled. Malocclusion/Dental Alignment Presence of external parasites Abscess Genital malformation

Sheep must have a caudal fold that can be seen or felt Any other condition that concerns the vet. The Sale Committee is authorized to settle any and all disputes regarding culling and to interpret the rules. The committee culls based on health and sale standards, not breed standards. Their decision will be final. All animals that have been culled must be immediately removed from the sale facility. Animals must have less than 1 inch of wool to be shown; Except for fibre specific wool breeds, which may be shown in full fleece. There will be a shearer on site, if necessary animals will be sheared at the discretion of the Inspection Committee.
Registration Certificates: Original registration certificate must be signed on the back for transfer and submitted to the culling committee. This applies to entries with papers, or in extenuating circumstances animals must be found on C.L.R.C website as registered if papers have not arrived. Following the sale and financial settlement, the MSA office will process transfers. The transferred registration paper will be sent directly to the buyer from the CLRC.
Identification: All consigned purebred animals must either bear eligible tattoos or paired CSIP tags. Confirmation that the identification stated on the registration paper is borne by the consigned animals is the responsibility of the culling committee. All consigned animals must bear a CSIP tag according to CFIA regulations. Animals failing to meet the identification standards will be culled from the sale and must be removed from the sale facility.
Commission: MSA charges a 5% commission on any animals sold at the sale. Transfer fees are also charged to the sellers.
Buyers: Buyers must obtain a buyers number from the sale clerk before they are eligible to bid in the auction. Buyers must provide their full name, address, telephone number and email address and indicate exactly how each animal is to be transferred. Online buyers must register on the link and be approved to bid.
Pass out fee: Should an animal not receive a bid that exceeds the reserve bid or the seller chooses not to accept the final bid on the animal a pass out fee of $20.00 will apply to each animal.
Terms: Payment may be made by cash, cheque or e transfer. Animals will not be released from the sale facility until payment is processed. Registration papers will be transferred when personal cheques have cleared the bank. All entry fees are non-refundable, for any reason. Submissions are only allowed within the same class. A maximum of two animals per breed, at a cost of $5.00 per animal may be substituted.
Guarantee: Each consignor guarantees clear right and title to all animals that present for sale. All animals are guaranteed breeders, if properly handled. All males are guaranteed breeders. Should any ram fail to prove to be a breeder, any claim for adjustment must be made within 18 months of the date of sale. A satisfactory settlement shall be deemed to be replacement with another ram of equal value and health status or refund of purchase price. The seller shall have the right, if so desired, to try a ram as much as 75 days to determine whether he is a satisfactory breeder, before making a final Should any female younger than 12 months of age and not pregnant at the time of the sale, fail to become pregnant during the current breeding season, the purchaser should notify the seller within 12 months from the date of the sale, but

wait to see if the ewe again fails to become pregnant by 24-months of age, before claiming adjustment in writing to the seller. Satisfactory settlement shall be deemed to be replacement with another ewe of equal value and health status or refund of purchase price. The purchaser shall notify the seller as soon as any concern with an animal arises. Under no conditions will the seller be liable for more than the original purchase price of the animal.The seller may direct the marketing of the animal and refund the difference between the purchase price and the market value as shown on the sales receipt.No incidental expenses, such as feed, care, etc. will be charged by either party when making settlement. All transportation charges are the responsibility of the buyer. No settlement will be completed until the registration certificate is retired or endorsed and returned to the seller. Any settlement of such guarantee is between the seller and buyer and is subject to the restrictions set out above.The Manitoba Sheep Association assumes no responsibility, expressed or implied, with respect to this guarantee or the restrictions set out above. RISK/REMOVAL: All animals are at purchaser’s risk as soon as sold. Delivery must be taken at the conclusion of sale. All animals must be removed from the barn after the conclusion of the sale. ERRORS: If any errors are noted, corrections will be made from the auction stand. All announcements at sale times, written or oral, supersede any material written in this catalog LIABILITY: The Manitoba Sheep Association and their directors and employees accept no liability that may occur. Accidents at sheep sales are very rare, but all attending must do so at their own risk.
