Welcome to our 27th annual bull sale. We are experiencing exciting times in the beef business as of late and that should encourage us all to cull accordingly and clean up the pieces that don’t fit or aren’t earning their keep. The salvage value of both cows and bulls goes further now towards genetic improvement than it has in recent years, seedstock producers and commercial cattlemen alike, should take advantage of that. Quality has always reaped a premium, but now the figures are larger and the demand is greater, it is important that we take notice of that. We do not have an advantage of volume in the protein marketplace but we are in the driver seat when it comes to quality, and there is a consumer base that will continue to reward us if we continue to provide a premium product. Despite our market strength, the inflation in the world around us is evident, this should also impact our breeding decisions. Therefore, the industry is demanding low maintenance, efficient and quality bulls that sire daughters with the same attributes, if we are going to see a cowherd rebuild, and steers that are profitable for the people that make a living feeding them. We strive for cows that have maternal instinct and good udders with calves that are vigorous. A live calf of any size and quality is valuable right now; we need to wean as high of a percentage of a calf crop as possible. We also graze until well into December most years and need cows that can thrive in a lower maintenance environment but also produce enough pay weight on an annual basis. But beyond that we want quality, good fertility, phenotype, hair, muscle mass, capacity and carcass quality. We refuse to chase any single trait, but rather try to balance and combine as many of the traits listed above as possible, it is not the quickest path but we feel it is the correct direction.

This would be one of the real sale features. This bull pulled ahead of the pack at about 3 weeks of age and stayed out in front all summer, his 2-year-old dam did an excellent job, weaning him with an 843lb adjusted 205-day weight and a huge index of 121. She is excellent uddered, as is her 8-year-old mother and would be one of our nicest L model’s and Resilient daughters. This bull is just as good in the flesh as he is on paper, good headed, attractive in his front and crest, level topped, clean sheathed and hairy.

Recommended for Heifers and Cows Embryo transfer son of the 2C donor who has become one of the good cows in our program. She is youthful, with a good udder and strong foot quality, particularly for an 11-year-old cow. The flush to Badlands was a big one, resulting in 15 full siblings born in 2025 and 2026, consistently low birthweight with lots of hair and a good look. Not to take away from the bulls, but the sisters are going to be the strongest part of the flush and the pedigree reads very maternal, with longevity built in.

Twin. This young Resilient daughter, who is perfectly uddered, had a set of twin Badlands bull calves last spring as just a 2-year-old and she nursed both of them until they were 6 weeks old and we were able to pull one off. Despite that she bred back to maintain a 382 day calving interval. Unfortunately, we lost the other twin a couple months after weaning when he laid in a hole and cast himself. They were both made identical, really easy doing and soft made with extra muscle for a heifer bull pedigree.

Great performance numbers on this calf but he is better in real life than he is on paper. Wide pin set, big top, nice hip, long made, good headed and plenty masculine for his age. A very complete calving ease sire that combines elite maternal qualities with functional traits that are essential at all levels of the industry. Badlands is good headed, strong footed and offers more base width and dimension than many highly predictable heifer bulls. He is out of a very influential cow that has raised multiple front end herd bulls, utilized across the industry. We are very excited to breed our first group of Badlands daughters and get them into production next year, as we feel they could be even better than their brothers.

Royalty was the high selling bull calf and our selection from the impressive Macnab Dispersal in the fall of 2024. He has an awesome Angus head with ample character, a wide muzzle and lots of masculinity. He is great haired, and has extra frame and length of body. He was an intelligent and aggressive breeder at only 13 months of age and has never looked back. We had about three daughters for every son born in his first calf crop, so the sampling in this year’s offering is small and on the younger end of the group but we feel they are an exciting indication of what’s to come. The 4 sons in the sale have already become fan favourites among visitors. Watch for Royalty sons to compose our largest sire group in 2027!
Montana Judgement 1038
Judgement is an AI sire that we found while on a tour in Montana, we felt for a bull with his mass he was very complete, strong topped and agile. His dam is a broody cow with unmatched mass and rib shape that should add to the maternal merit of Judgement offspring. Both the male and female progeny are very easy doing and soft made with tons of center body capacity. We have calved about 15 daughters now; they are milking well and look productive at this point. As 2-year-olds they are moderate in frame and easy fleshing, it is our observation that Judgement has generally reduced teat size and improved or maintained foot quality in one generation.

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder. We reserve the right to withhold animals from export shipment for whom payments have not been received prior to departure times.
