This is the 21st edition of the Lockhart Valley Simmental Bull Sale. This sale marks a big change for us. Silvertop Simmentals, who have been a part of our sale for a long time have decided to change direction with their operation. Jenna and her husband Dawson have started a new venture. Silvertop Miniatures, located at Beiseker, AB. We wish them all the best. Lee, Hannah, Levi, Emily and myself, would like to welcome to our sale Kaleb, Holly, Jeb, Lane and Bailey Hewitt. They have a small purebred herd, Diamond H Simmentals, located north of Rimbey at Bluffton. With Jenna’s departure from the sale, a slot opened up and we invited Kaleb and Holly to join our sale. They have 3 really good cowboy bulls on offer.
As 2025 came to a close, we all were absolutely astonished at the prices steer and heifer calves were commanding. Bred commercial heifers topped the market at $10,000+ dollars. Slaughter cows and bulls also commanded huge salvage return for the cattleman. Last fall was a great time to get rid of older, tired bulls and look to replacing them with some young guns.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
TERMS: The terms of sale are cash or cheque. All cattle must be settled for at the conclusion of the auction. Cattle will not be released from the sale premises until payment is received in full, unless other arrangements have been made proir to the sale with the individual contributer. Every animal sells to the highest bidder, in the case of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final, and becomes the risk of the purchaser. We reserve the right to withhold animals from shipment for whom payments have not been received prior to departure times.
BUYERS REGISTRATION: Buyers please register for a buyer number at the office prior to purchasing.
BREEDING GUARANTEE: All bulls are guaranteed to be fertile & reproductively sound in accordance with the rules & regulations recommended by the breed associations. All bulls will be semen tested.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Errors in this catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the block at sale time & such announcments will take precedent over any printed material. Any disputes will be settled by the auctioneer.
ACCIDENTS: Although every precation will be taken, All Persons who attend the Sale do so at their own risk. The owners, management, the sales staff assume no liability, legal, or otherwise for any reason.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: A certificate of registration duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer by the breeder for each registered animal after complete and full payment has been made.
INSURANCE: Bulls who go back the the seller’s farm must be insured by the buyer, insurance agents will be in attendence.

This spring is very important for the commercial cattleman as any bull purchased this spring will definitely be a value, added asset to their farm or ranch. If your’re looking to add pounds to your calf crop or are looking for calving ease bulls every consignor in our sale has the bulls you need.
All the bulls are weaned at their respective homes, then once weaning is done they are all brought to Lockhart Valley within days of one another and from then on, they are fed the same ration, bedded the same and treated the same.
This spring we are really excited for the bull sale as I think all breeders are. It is an exciting time to be part of the cattle industry. Hello and welcome to our portion of the 21 st annual Lockhart Valley Simmentals Bull Sale. What a time to be in the cattle industry. Record highs have been set a ll across the board. From $4200 strs and heifers, to bred commercial heifers topping out a $10,000. NOW is the time to be looking for your next herd sire. It is more important than ever to have a bull that will sire those heavy weight steers and the next generation of productive cows.
Lockhart Valley Simmentals reserves the right to collect semen for in herd use on any bull in their sale offering.
Lockhart Valley takes great pride in ensuring the bulls are “fed to breed and fed to last”. We want to sell you a working bull that gives his owner no problems or minimal problems. We also want you to come back and buy your next herd bull from us with the knowledge that we stand behind what we sell. Bulls are semen tested mid-February by Dr. Rick Katchuik from the Alberta Veterinary center. All bulls have had full herd health protocols incorporated by each consignor at their respective farms.

LHVS Bet On Red 37N, is probably one of the most striking bulls in the pen this year. He is Lee’s favorite bull for sure. His dam is a great little cow. We’ve registered every calf out of her. Charles 29C crossed with Anticipation 1L gave us this dark, liver red, hairy individual with that white “money stripe” down his face. This Hetero-polled son of Anticipation has the body depth, length, rib shape and muscle mass that should translate into heavy weight steers and productive easy-keeping females. Can you imagine a pen full of steers or heifers that look like him? I sure can. LHVS 13J weaned an impressive 63% of her body weight last fall.
Ok, this bull’s dam really needs her horn tooted. LHVS 51D is ten years old and this past fall weaned a 1000lb calf at the end of August. 51D is a bigger gal at 1760lbs, but man I’m not gonna to complain when she can do what she did with this big boy. Now Golden Rule’s sire LHVS Anticipation 1L is a bull we raised three years ago. As you can see from his picture he was mistaken for a mature bull at 8 months of age. An unfortunate injury sideline Anticipation, but we were fortunate enough to get semen drawn on him. Anticipation has sired one of our stronger groups this year. Golden rule is a great example of what LHVS 1L can do. He is going to be a bigger bull, but carry the muscle and mass to sire those heavy weight steers. He’s long and deep bodied. Being Homo-polled, you won’t have to worry about dehorning. I’d keep his daughters, as they should be productive like both their grand-dams. LHVS 51D weaned off 57% of her body weight. LHVS BOOT SCOOTIN’ BOOGIE 54N
Now this is a cool little bull. Boot Scootin’ Boogie is an Anticipation son who body wise, quite frankly looks more like a Full Blood. As Levi would say, he has a “poppin ass on him”. 54N has probably thee shortest legs I have ever seen on a bull. Don’t’ get me wrong here, he still has the length, body depth and muscle mass to sire those heavy weight steers. His dam is a cow we purchased from Lone Stone Simmentals in 2020 as a bred heifer. Okay, I admit, I really like this bulls dam. LHVS 25H did a really great job with this Anticipation bull calf. We bred her back to NAC Battle Cry 4F for a late January calf this year. She’s a big Charles cow with a lot of volume with an excellent udder. We’ve registered every calf from her. Vintage Red 33N is a big boy. Dark red with a blaze face, he’ll stamp his calves as certified Simmental. Great hair, long bodied with excellent feet and legs. Thick made with lots of middle and butt on him. Good disposition. I really like this calf. For a big cow 25H did a great job on Vintage Red, weaning him off at 55% of her body weight.

LHVS Gun Runner 112M is a really great bull from one of our older productive cows, LHVS 116D. Gun Runner is a well put together bull. Good body length, rib shape and muscle mass, he’ll be a great asset to any commercial herd. Easy to handle, Gun Runner moves out smoothly on a good set of legs and feet. He should sire those highly marketable steers. His daughters should be highly maternal and make good momma cows. LHVS 116D weaned off 56% of her body weight. Cow Bull | Sire Verified | Diluter Free

This bulls dam, LHVS 84J is a really cool SBV 711F cow. Small framed with an impeccable udder. We really like the cows that 711F (a.k.a. Seven) gives us. He always puts beautiful udders on his daughters. LHVS Cut Loose is a really neat little bull. He’s dark red with a bit of white on the end of his nose. Cut Loose is a moderate framed bull who is put together really well. Good body length and thick with great muscle mass. His daughters are definitely going to be keepers. I’d bet my last dollar they’ll have really nice tidy udders. LHVS 84J did a bang up job on Cut Loose, weaning him off at 60% of her body weight. Cow Bull | Sire Verified | Diluter Free
Hey, I might have fibbed a wee bit when it comes to my pen favorite. I mean, I find it really hard to decide between Burnt Ebony and this powerhouse, LHVS Black Betty’s Son. LHVS 111M is a SVS Captain Morgan 11Z son out of a really beautiful cow we bought from Red Top Livestock as an open heifer. Black Betty’s Son is long, deep, thick, great hair, solid black all wrapped up in a masculine package. I love the shape of his skull, he’s clean through his front end and body. He strides out on a great set of feet and legs. Moderate framed, he shouldn’t grow into a huge bull. I can definitely see the breeding bulls or steers and heifers he’ll leave behind. Okay, okay. I’m the first person to admit that black Simmentals are not my favorite. But Burnt Ebony, is my favorite bull out of all our bulls this year. I just really like how he carries himself. He’s moderate framed, but has the body length, rib expression and muscle mass to make him one of the stand-outs in the pen. His coal black color doesn’t hurt either. He’s perfectly proportioned in his body dynamics and in my opinion, that makes him a breeder bull candidate. He also has a really sweet disposition. His maternal brother went to Craigmyle Farming last spring. His dam LHVS 11H weaned off 54% of her body weight last fall. Cow Bull | Sire Verified | Homo-polled

LHVS Night Watch 21N is a really cool bull. His sire SVS Captain Morgan 11Z is a go to A.I sire for us. Night Watch is a big boy and will grow into his frame, I’m sure. His dam is a smaller framed cow who packs a punch into her calves. Night Watch is a smooth travelling bull, who walks out on excellent feet and legs. Good hair coat and is a decent bull to handle. Night Watch should throw great vigor into his babies. He’ll sire those heavy weight steers and beautiful replacements. His dam, weaned Night Watch off at 1020lbs. LHVS POP THE CLUTCH 5N
Pop The Clutch 5N is one of only two Charle’s sons in this year’s sale. He is a great example of how Charles stamps his offspring. 5N is dark, dark red in color, with a beautiful hair coat. He is moderate framed and walks out on nice red hooves. Pop The Clutch is one of the pets of the pen. He’s always down for some scratches. Look for 5N to sire those beautiful replacement females (I’d keep them all) either to sell or retain as breeding stock. His steers should command premium dollars at the auction barn. LHVS Render Judgement 23N is the last Charles son for our sale this year. We’ve ran out of Charles semen and we might have one more bull calf to sell next spring. Actually, Render Judgement’s dam has this boy’s full brother on her this calving cycle. I really like this bulls dam. She is productive as all get out. We’ve registered 3 out of 4 calves from her. Render Judgement is a moderate framed bull with beautiful wavey red hair. Easy going, Render Judgement moves out on a good set of feet and legs. He is one of two Charle’s sons featured in the Commercial edition of the Simmental Country, this past January. This little powerhouse should leave good steers and beautiful replacement heifers. Sure Shot is the first Jackson 24J son to sell. Jackson is a new A.I. sire to us. He sired calves with tremendous muscle and thickness. Sure Shot 17N, is from one of our original Charles daughters. We’ve flushed her and have sold a daughter of hers to Snowdame Farms in 2023. We’ve registered 7 calves from LHVS 62E, Sure Shot’s dam. I really like this young bull calf, I always have right from the get go. Small, masculine shaped skull on him. He’s long and deep bodied. Good disposition. Gets out an walks like a boss on good big feet. We’re very tempted to draw semen on him and keep him for future use. LHVS 62E weaned off 46% of her body weight. LHVS Hootin & Hollerin 6N is the result of a flush between LHVS 19G a.k.a. Sassy and Silver Lake Jackson 24J. God must have really giggled when he decided to slide Hootin’s left goggle to the middle of his face. (Insert rolling eyes here). 6N is going to be a big boy when he’s done growing. Hootin is long bodied, dark red and walks on a tremendous set of feet. He also has the equipment to get your cows bred. He would cross up really well on a traditional set of cows. LHVS Juicy Fruit 7N is the third and last Silver Lake Jackson 24J son to sell. This young bull is the smallest of the Jackson sons. I really like the dam of Juicy Fruit. She’s a Charles daughter who has been of very good cow for us. She has some really great bulls in her pedigree. LHVS 42E goes back to Sim-Roc Stroller, Anchor T Legend and Knight Stinger. Now those are some old school genetics. Not to mention Charles. LHVS 7N is a darker brown color with a really nice hair coat. Good feet on him and of course he has the equipment to get your cows bred. His heifers should make good cows if his dam is anything to go by. LHVS 42E is a big girl at 1700Lbs. LHVS CHAIN REACTION 36N
In 2024 we sold Chain Reaction’s sire, LHVS Oscar 4L to Sargeant Cattle Co Ltd, from Rimbey. We asked Wayne if it would be all right to use Oscar on a few of our cows and thankfully he agreed. Well, LHVS Chain Reaction 36N is the result of one of those matings. Calving ease is built into this young lad, with Bell Ringer 21T, Crossroad Radium 789U and Sunny Valley Sargent in his pedigree, calving with him should be a breeze. His dam LHVS 33F is a smaller framed cow who did a bang-up job on Chain Reaction. He has got to be one of the LOUDEST bulls in the pen as he’s always bellowing away at absolutely nothing. If ranking noise in a bull pen, he’d be number one. Small framed but very athletic, I really like this youngster. He has a great set of legs and feet on him. Gate Keeper is the second and final Oscar 4L son to sell in this years sale. Real cool little bull and is very similar to his half brother. LHVS 43N is a smaller framed bull that shouldn’t get to big. Don’t let that stop you from taking a good look at him. His length of body, rib shape and muscle mass should translate into very marketable steers and beautiful functional replacement females. Gate Keeper is a lighter brown in color and crossed with Charolais, Red Angus or Hereford based cows should give you those highly sought after buckskin steers. LHVS STOMPIN’ GROUNDS 14N
Okay, anybody with social media knows who this bull is. If you don’t, let me introduce you to “Stompy”. Hence his name LHVS Stompin’ Grounds. This young bull has been a pesty pet since birth. Most calves forget about the human who gave such good scratches in the barn. But oh no, not Stompy. He’d run as soon as he saw the loader tractor and shredder come into the field. He knew Hannah was in there and scratches and rubs were on the way. His young dam is a beautiful, moderate framed dark red cow, with a well put together udder. She did a tremendous job on Stompin’ Grounds. 14N is dark brown in color and is a thick, thick bull. Lots of muscle definition on this boy. Really nice bull. His sire LHVS Bell Ringer 21T is a bull we raised a long time ago. This is the LAST son of his to sell. Stompy should be a moderate framed bull and he should sire those heavy steers and keeper heifers for his new owner. His dam LHVS 71L weaned off 64% of her body weight. LHVS Golden Rule 8N is sired by none other than one of our favorite bulls IPU Galaxy 97S or as we called him “Blue”. Blue is a tremendous cow maker. He puts performance, udder and feet quality on any of his offspring. Golden Rule is put together in a nicely balanced way. He’s homo-polled, dark red and has a really nice disposition. Good feet and legs. I expect 8N to grow into a moderate framed bull that will sire you those heavy weight steers and beautiful replacement females. Okay, so this is LHVS Little Tease 31N. His big brother went to Blazin’ J Simmentals last March. Little Tease’s dam has been a really good cow for us. She’s a dark red cow who just quietly operates in the background and does her job. LHVS 8G is a moderately framed cow, weighing in at 1500lbs. Little Tease won’t be a big bull by any means, but I expect him to make very saleable steers and great replacement heifers. He’s dark red, has good feet and legs and is smoothly made. Nice little bull. His sire SU Jenkins needs no introduction as he has played a huge part in our Full Blood herd development. Little Tease weaned off his dam at 56% of her body weight. Last year, the first 3 Cow Boss bulls cataloged were maternal brothers to this guy. Those fellas found great homes in very respective herds- Sweet Creek Ranch, Kotowitch Evergreen Farms and The Jenkins family! The Finnley 102F cow is great! Her udder is a 10/10. But Nelson resembles his sire, very much! He will add some hair to your calf crop, not to mention some muscle! Niall’s mother is one of my most favorite cows. She has offspring at R-Five, Lublinkhof’s, Szymanek’s and a pretty awesome daughter in the herd. Niall has been such a quiet fella since he was a wee gaffer. He got his head up nicely for a picture but don’t let that fool you, he is very easy to handle. He has great length of body and a great cow family backing him.

Noah’s sire is a bull we bought out in Manitoba from Silver Lake. He has been a great bull for us! He is extremely easy fleshing and this son is a chip off the old block! Nico and Nick are full siblings on paper. Their mothers are twin sisters. These young cows are a very nice pair of feminine females that I believe will be in the herd for a long time. This pair of bulls are their second calves and they did a great job with them! Nico is moderately made but the type that I strive to produce. He is soggy, soft made but yet still has muscle definition. Non-Diluter | Sire-Verified.
Nick is dark red, hairy, bigger boned, quiet, and just flat out attractive. Complete is the best word to describe him. He is the baby of the pen this year. He comes from a wonderful cow family, stemming back to the great Spruceburn herd. His sire “Cosmo” was selected from the Anchor D program for his unreal foot structure and extremely maternal backing. His calves have been performing extremely well in both the fullblood and commercial divisions here. This is a calf that will mature into a great herdbull and might just be my pick of the pen. Nixon is mothered by the very first animal I ever registered with the Canadian Simmental Association back in 2014. 46B has been an extremely fertile, trouble free cow in her lifetime. Calving in January 11/11 years and still going. I have calved a full sister to Nixon and she has nice small teats and a great foot. Nixon is an honest bull who will get the job done! Welcome to the 2026 Lockhart Valley Simmentals Bull Sale! It is an honour to be involved in this outstanding sale once again and to present my largest and strongest offering to date — seven Black Angus Bulls. A sincere thank you to the Robson family for the continued opportunity to be part of this sale.
I would also like to extend my appreciation to my 2025 buyers, Greg and Deb Anderson, Torie Ranching, K-Cow Ranch, Plummer Land and Cattle, and Logan Young as well as to everyone who showed interest in my program. Your support is truly appreciated.
The bulls were weaned in early October and have been housed at Robson’s since late October. They did not receive creep feed through the summer, and their weaning weights reflect the performance potential achieved on grass and pure maternal ability. This year’s offering represents three sires: Peak Dot Big River 3L, BCL Payweight 213J, and Lone Star Hometown 1L.
I am extremely proud of this group of bulls. They have impressed me from day one, continuing to grow, mature, and develop into sound, functional herd sire prospects. While I may be biased, this is a very exciting set of bulls with excellent dispositions to match their performance.

OPAL NORTHERN PRINCE 12N
Opal Northern Prince 12N is as long as a freight train and as thick as they come. This is a bull I’ve admired since day one, and I was thrilled when he turned out to be a bull calf. His dam had only produced heifers prior to Prince, and she certainly didn’t disappoint when given the opportunity to raise a herd sire prospect. Prince was the second-heaviest bull at weaning at 806 lbs and has continued to grow and perform on feed. Prince is a solid heifer bull candidate. If you’re looking to add extra length, spine, and performance to your calf crop, take a serious look at this bull.
Narnia has been a heavyweight from the start, topping the scale at weaning at 846 lbs. He is out of a first-calving dam, Opal Princess 7L, and weaned off at an impressive 64% of her body weight. Princess 7L is a maternal sister to Opal Northern Prince 12N, and this cow family consistently adds extra length, thickness, and depth
body. Sired by Big River, Narnia offers the kind of performance that will translate into heavyweight steers and added pounds at sale time. If weight matters in your program, this bull is worth a serious look. Narnia is a cow bull.
Nimbus is a super neat bull with exceptional presence and balance. He carries himself with confidence, moves freely, and is as agile as they come. His first-calving dam did an outstanding job, weaning him off at an impressive 60% of her body weight. Pedigree-wise, his dam Opal Ms Barnett 8L is a maternal sister to Opal Maddox 7M and a paternal sister to Opal Princess 7L, tying him into consistent and proven cow families. Norse Code is the youngest bull in the offering, born April 14, yet he is anything but immature. Despite being 2-4 months younger than his pen mates, he commands attention the moment you walk through the gate and stands out as a true powerhouse cow bull. He weaned off at 752 lbs at just 187 days of age and has continued to grow and perform ever since. His dam, Opal Jin 1J, is a maternal sister to Opal Lord Lager 1L and Opal Moonshine 5M, and she continues to knock it out of the park with every calf she raises. OPAL NILE RIVER 28N
Nile River is another Peak Dot Big River son and he is, frankly, a tank. Thick-made, deep-bodied, and square in his build, this bull is designed to add extra depth and muscle to his calf crop. He carries himself well and has the kind of stoutness that is hard to overlook. His dam is a beautiful young cow purchased from the Sutter program and is made just right from the ground up. Nile River also stands out for his excellent disposition — very gentle, easy to handle, and unfazed by his surroundings. If you value muscle, structure, and docility, this Big River son deserves serious consideration. I’d turn Nile River in with the cows or larger framed heifers.

Never Miss is a smooth-made, long-bodied bull with longevity built into his pedigree. His dam, HF Tibbie 202B, is a coming 12 year old this year and continues to do it right. This bull is extremely quiet, easy to handle, and carries himself with presence, topped off with an outstanding hair coat. Opal Navigator 4N is a neat first calvers son that does a lot of things right. His dam, Atlasta Missy 86B 22L, did an outstanding job on her first calf, weaning Navigator off at 55% of her body weight. He was born unassisted and hit the ground quickly. He stands on solid feet and carries an overall tidy structure. Navigator has the potential to throw some eye-catching females as his dam was purchased as a bred heifer and was the high-selling female at the 2024 Atlasta Bull & Female Sale, he was the product in utero of her purchase. This past summer our family received a devastating email from Kathy telling us that she was stepping aside from doing our catalog due to the fact that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We were shocked at the news but understood her decision. Although Kathy worked in the background, she was an integral part of the sale. Northern Star is probably the deepest ribbed bull we’ve raised so far. He is a very dark red, solid guy with a calm personality. He comes from a larger framed polled cow that raises them big! Northern Star is a good honest bull that will get your cows bred and look good doing it. When you’re built like this it is no surprise what your calves will look like. They’ll surely be packed with natural muscle riding on sturdy legs and a very powerful frame.

Thank You to Last Years Sale Buyers Bull Feed
All of the bulls are weaned early in the fall. This year Lockhart Valley weaned at the end of August. All other bulls were weaned in a similar fashion. Again, this year we’ve sorted the Full Bloods from the reds and the black to make your viewing experience a lot easier. Like past years Lee has worked with Wetaskiwin Co-op on a balanced ration. The ration, like last years, consists of cereal silage, oats/ corn and second cut hay. The bulls are housed in big, open pens. Both pens have scratchers and oilers available to them. Here at Lockhart Valley, we feed the bulls to last. We want the bulls to go out and work for their new owners. After all we’re in the business of selling breeding bulls, not lawn mowers. We target for 3 to 3.5 lbs of gain per day. Anything more is a waste. If you have any questions about their ration, give Lee a call. He’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
