Welcome from The Janzens’

Another year has come by pretty fast to be thinking about what to put down. Not sure why this is always such a surprise when it’s been happening for the last 32 years. Not too much changes from year to year. We just are always trying to bring the best product we can from year to year. Our cows are raised to be as maintenance free as possible, baring and difficulty. With the mild winter the cows went onto corn grazing and were pulled off to be closer for calving. Was different not having to feed any bales.

Big Kahuna went way past expectations last year when his first sons were up for sale. Again, there is another outstanding, thick, heavy haired group. But he also has a tremendous set of first calving daughters that we have high hopes for down the road.

Kaptain sons are all from first calvers. It is pretty impressive to see this group and be amazed at the growth and size that can come from a first timer. Also, this year his first daughters are calving, and they all are easy fleshing with amazing udders and past on the calving ease trait.

Bennington sire group is another pretty impressive group all being more moderate but still packing muscle and shape.

Lincoln was a new bull who unfortunately got hurt way too young in life. His calves are few in numbers but good in quality. Lots of calving ease and easy fleshing.

Slash is the new black walking sire. This is by far the best set of black bulls we have ever had and are going to be pretty tough to beat. Nice when a sires first time does this. They all came easy and grew like weeds. They are peas in a pod.

The Angus sires are the same from last year. Rock has few more this year and very impressed. He was used on heifers and hand full of cows. Rip brings his performance and touch of calving that is very appealing.

Please feel free to reach out if needed. Everyone is welcome to join us on the 25th.

Welcome from Transcon

33 consecutive bull sales is a true validation to a great breeding program! The basis has been using foundation sires that live, eat, breathe and breed cows right here on the ranch. Savvy bull buying techniques has allowed the JR crew to advance the herd for decades and leave a feeling of satisfaction to their incredible list of repeat customers that they are buying bulls from people whom also do the same for their own betterment, justly creating the male calves for sale purposes but also the females that go into the herd as sister groups to produce that next generation!

Upon touring the bullpens this winter, the “Kaptain” bull has a set of sons that stand out. Not only for their physical presence of muscle and beef, but the fact they start small, as “Kaptain” has been used in the heifer pen, then the “get up & grow” they are impressive! These guys capture so many desirable assests, as already mentioned, plus the added baldy/blaze chrome packages that several have, for that economic advancement, then all thrown together in a very, very quiet package that makes them nice to be around.

The “Big Kahunas” have a great look and that deep, dark red color sure makes it easy to find them, plus the fantastic hair coats.

It’s really too bad that “Lincoln” was lost at a young age and only bred a few head before his demise because he had as many attributes to be a leading JR herdsire as any we’ve ever seen here! The good news is, at least there are three sons on offer for your consideration.

And “Bennington”, like “Lincoln” is another good walking bull we’ve had the privilege of purchasing on behalf of these good people. He’s held is own too as far as siring cattle that are “curve benders” with great haircoats and a rich red color!

It’s safe to say, the best group of black SM bulls ever offered at JR is this year and yes, you may have guessed it, all one sire group - “Slash”! Soft sided and easy fleshing could sum them up.

Moving to the Red Angus, “Rip”, comes out of the unique performance driven Lone Stone herd. But again, they are born easily enough and then develop with more muscle and shape than what you may expect from a versatile Red Angus prototype.

The “Rock”, is a bull retained for the same solid calving ease attributes his sire possessed, but still with a good look and some substance. Open the gate to the heifer pen here!

We invite you to come on out on a Wednesday afternoon for a real world, down home bull sale with the Janzen Families.
