JUNIORS WE ARE HERE TO HELP!! The YCS Classic is next door in Quebec and we’d love to help a young junior or a breeder young at heart experience the thrill of the hunt with an IRCC heifer. The National YCS Classic has become one of our very favourite summer events when it’s in the east and in 2027 it will be again. Our track record at past YCS Classics is unmatched and we like nothing better than watching kids enjoy success with heifers from IRCC. We also have our junior incentive program to encourage youngsters and offer boarding options that include preparation for the YCS show as well as delivery. There is also an opportunity to work with our fun living team at the show that often involves initiating an intense and refreshing cooling off session (aka water fight) and perhaps helping our neighbors with their stall display. We are here to help with your next junior project and if you’ve never felt the hair on your back stand up, your palms sweat and the excitement of leading a dialed in contender towards the ring, give us a call.
Quality Control X is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting sale yet as we celebrate a decade of offering herd building and breed changing genetics to the industry. A lot has happened in those short 10 years and it seems like just yesterday we were raising a couple of kids and then just like that Juanita’s a Grandma. Then suddenly we have a graduate from Black Hawk and OSU in the show barn that has seen more livestock operations than you can imagine. Owen has a huge year of snow, hay, house building, vow swapping and Wade raising ahead of him. Somehow 100 cows went to breeding 285 this spring and thankfully this cow market has stayed vibrant and strong in recent years. And Quality Control has changed the face of the industry as well. It’s extremely rewarding to open sale catalogues or check show results to see IRCC somewhere on those pages. Of course, there’s a beloved red cow responsible for much of that but many others accompany her as well. Starting with the Bombshell who kicked off the inaugural sale (her niece starts this one), Cherry Bomb, Foxtrot, Fantasia, King George, Kaboom, Legit, Debutante, Hot Tomale, Hula Dancer, Glass Slipper, Delicious, Mesmerize and of course Darlin herself have all impacted the breed and will continue to influence future generations. The Angus division from QC IX has in the short time since blazed an impressive trail of success as Lifeline, Rose 508N Shedaisy 530N and RMCC Black Lady have all brought glory to their new owners. And that’s always been the plan to offer competitive, high quality, functional seed stock that can hunt for championships but more importantly leave a lasting positive impression on the programs that support QC. Very special lot on offer here as the first Hay City we are aware of to sell at auction and a super nice one with a stunning 2 year old dam. Funny story actually. The ‘Behnke’ girls all like good cattle and at Bohrson’s inaugural sale last December they all had the dam of this heifer circled as ‘the one’. Katie, who had been working on her, verified it and the never ending family battle was on. Luckily we had Anita on our side and landed that female to add to our donor battery and boy she started her career with a bang on this one.
