members and 2 Cleaver Kids this year. This year there are 20 Market Steers on offer at Show&Sale. There are also 5 Heifers; 3-2 Year Old & 1-3 Year Old. This year our club has the addition of 2 members with Market Lambs. The members in our club are from Youngstown, Cereal and Hanna areas. Our members would like to thank all our previous buyers for their years of continued support, and we look forward to this year and seeing all the familiar faces and hopefully some new ones. Please come join us on Friday June 12 for the Female day, and then again on Saturday June 13 for the Steer Show&Sale. If you are unable to attend, you can watch all the action on DLMS! My name is Zoey Sinclair. This is my third year with a market steer, following one year as a cleaver. My steer is a black angus and I named him Jeff. I enjoy working with him, as he is very calm and willing to cooperate. I picked Jeff because of his frame and his size; he looked good from the start. Hi, my name is Kelly Laughlin and this is my 7th year getting to show a market steer. The calf I picked this year is a home raised Limousin steer. He has grown into a really big framed animal with a strong build. He carries himself nicely with good structure. This has made him a great project to work with this year. He weighed in at 592lbs back in November and is now over 1,200lbs.Thank you to everyone that comes out to show and sale every year to help support and celebrate everyone’s achievements. Hi, my name is Josh Paisley, and my calf's name is Alex. This is my second year with a market steer. When I started halter breaking Alex, he was pretty crazy, but he has calmed down quite a bit. He weighed 666lbs at weigh-in and is a big, thick calf that I'm confident will weigh up really nicely on sale day. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Hi, my name is Liam Paisley. My 4-H market steer is named Steak. Although he is moody, he likes it when I scratch his forehead and is more cooperative. He is an Angus Gelbvieh cross that weighed 636 at weigh-in. I am really happy with how he has grown over the year and can't wait until weigh-in on sale day. I hope to see you there!

Hi, my name is Ryley Bignell. I have been in 4 H for three years. This year my calf’s name is Tank. He was born April 17th and is a Simmental Cross.
Hi, my name is Jillayna MacMillan. This is my sixth year in 4-H. I did three years of Cleaver and then I finally got to become a "real" member. This year, I have a threeyear-old cow and calf pair, a two-year-old cow and calf pair, a heifer, and a steer. My three-year-old's name is Lulu, my two-year-old's name is Pumpkin, my heifer's name is Peaches, and my steer's name is Captain Tom. Captain Tom weighs 1300 pounds as of April 28th. He is a home-raised Simmental/Angus. He is one of the sweetest calves ever; he always wants to be wherever you are. My heifer is described by my mom as "annoyingly friendly." All my animals are super friendly and love people. I’m going to miss Captain Tom so much after the sale. I would like to thank A&W in Hanna for buying my steer last year. Hi, I’m Taigan Miller, a third-year 4-H member, and this year I’m showing my steer, Fred. He’s a white Charolais–Simmental calf with lots of muscle and great shape, and he really stands out. Fred is an eating machine, easy to work with. I’ve put a lot of time into him this year, and I’m proud of how he’s turned out he’ll make some great beef and hopefully make someone happy on sale day, June 13, 2026.

Greetings, my name is Kiptyn Conners and this is my 6th year of 4-H. I am a first year senior in the Dryland Multi 4-H club. This year I have a limo x steer from our family herd. He’s long with a straight back and lots of depth. He carries his weight well and is very powerful. His name is Red, his starting weight was 726 lbs and has been gaining weight well. He should finish around 1500lbs. I am excited to show this steer because he is quiet and led nice early on. Hope to see you all there at the Hanna District Show and Sale in June! Hello, my name is Rodney Laughlin and this is my 5th year showing a market steer. I have always enjoyed 4H, but I am very excited for my steer this year. My calf, named “Calfy”, is a home raised Limo cross. He is gaining well, loves his grain and especially loves his scratches! He’s been a really fun steer to work with and follows me around even with out a halter on. Back in November he weighed in on the lighter side at 487lbs, but he’ s sure made up for it since then! My name is Kate Brady and I am in grade 10 at J.C. Charyk School in Hanna. This is my fifth year in beef 4-H and I really enjoy it. My steer this year is a black Angus steer named Rebel. He was a March born calf and has grown into a very nice steer. I am very proud of all the hard work and care I have put into my steer this year and hope to see you at the Show and Sale on June13, 2026 in Hanna.
My name is Brandt Grover, and Patches is my first steer. After three years as a Cleaver member, I am excited to raise a market steer. Patches is a Hereford-Angus cross, and I’ve worked hard raising him. I am very proud of how he has grown. Taking care of him has taught me responsibility and patience. I named Patches because of the markings on his head. He loves to be pampered and get lots of scratches. I can’t wait to show Patches on June 13. This is my 8th year of 4-H and 3 years before that with Cleaver 4H. My steer I have chosen this year is a Simmental/Angus who weighed in at 650 pounds and is approximately 1400 pounds. My heifer is a home-raised Simmental/Angus; she weighed in at 560 pounds and she is growing beautifully. All of my 4-H projects have been very easy to train this year. My name is Mandy Conners and this is my 9th year in 4-H. This year I have chosen a black Limousin/Angus cross steer. I chose this steer because he has a large frame, deep body, natural muscling, and big bones and could hold a lot of meat. His gentle temper has made him super easy to work with. I will also be showing a red Limousin heifer. The reason I like 4H is that I am always learning new things and skills to help me in the future. The best part of the 4H year is the show and sale because I love fitting my animals, I get to see my friends and showcase my animals. Hi my name is Dexter Miller and this is my fourth year in 4-H. My project this year is a powerful and well-balanced Red Simmental steer. He has developed excellent depth of body and natural muscling, typical of the Simmental breed. True to his breed, he offers a great blend of mass and frame. Not only for impressive physical attributes, but he also has a calm and manageable disposition. My dedication to this project shows in his high-quality carcass potential and general sound structure. Hi, my name is Brooklyn Laughlin and this is my first year with a market steer. My calf is named Buddy and he weighed 506 lbs when we started the year and now he is over 1,000lbs! I enjoy all the fun things we get to do in 4H and I have really enjoyed learning about how to raise a market steer this year. My older brothers have helped me a lot to learn everything I need to know. I am really looking forward to showing my steer at this years show and sale in Hanna, hope to see you there!

Hi my name is Lane Laughlin this is my 3rd year with a market steer, and I did three years of cleavers before that. This year my calf is a home raised Fleckvieh limo cross. I picked him because he was built well for gaining weight and I liked his colors. His name is Billy Bob Joe, Bill for short. At our district weigh in Bill weighed 534lbs. I think he weighs close to 1,100lbs today, and is still gaining! I have really enjoyed working with my 4H calf this year and I am looking forward to showing him off at the Hanna & District Show and Sale in June. Steve is a super easy going and calm steer and is always looking for attention. Steve is a red Simmental steer and he is a lean mean eating machine. If you are looking for some delicious beef for your freezer, this is your guy. I am so excited to see all the buyers at the show and sale this year!

My name is Brady Bignell is Brady Bignell I’m in grade 9 and this is my 4th year with a market steer in the Dryland Multi 4-H club. This year I picked a home raised red Simmental born last year in April. I picked him because he stood out from the beginning having a big frame. I have had lots of fun in 4-H this year and hope to see you at Show and Sale June 13 at Hanna.
This year, we have a small but enthusiastic group of Cleavers: Alice Grover and April Paisley. They have enjoyed many activities throughout the year, including dump cleanup, public speaking, a clipping clinic, and a mock show. Both girls did an amazing job at public speaking, getting up in front of a crowd for the first time and presenting speeches they had memorized. They can’t wait to show their calves on show day!

Hello, my name is Jensyn Duque, I am 13 years old, and I love to spend time with, and show and work with my animals. This year is my 6th year in 4-H, and this year my market steers’ name is Chubbs. He is an excellent steer, very well mannered and quiet, and has gained really well. Chubbs is a Simmental cross black steer. Chubbs was a stand out in the 4-H pick pen last fall, and lucky me, I had the advantage of having first pick out of my other siblings this year. Choosing Chubbs was the best decision ever, I am very happy to be calling him my steer for this year. Although my sisters’ calf might outweigh mine in the end, I think this is the first year I have ever had a calf that has gained really well. At the end of this year we are hoping he finishes to weigh out at 1450 lb. I would like to thank Chasing Homes Realty in Calgary (Chase and Ashley Olsen) for the buying my steer again last year.

Meet Jimmy! He is a Hereford/Simmental/ Shorthorn cross that I picked out of my families herd. I liked Jimmy from the start, he was big and he never skipped a meal, kinda like myself! My best guess is Jimmy will weigh around 1400lbs or a little better on sale day, just the right size to fill your freezer. My years in 4-H are flying by, I’ m already a first year senior but I remember my days as a Cleaver member like they were yesterday. My name is Brandt Lyster and this is my 7th year in 4-H. As a senior member now, I’ve become much more confident and independent when working with my 4-H animals. Over the years I’ve learned a lot about responsibility, consistency, and putting in the work every day to help my projects succeed. My steer, “Duke,” is a blaze-faced red Simmental with a medium-large frame that is filling out nicely. With lots of time and consistent leading, he has come a long way. Duke is currently gaining around 4lbs/day and should weigh around 1,525 pounds by Achievement Day. I would like to thank Pine Ridge Supply for purchasing my steer last year. Hi my name is Keaton Duque. I am a Grade 10 student at the Oyen High school, and this is my 6th year in 4-H with the East Sounding Creek Club. This year I have a black, home raised Simmental steer, and his name is Zeus. Zeus has been the quietest steer out of the pen right off the hop and has never strayed from his quiet and calm character, in which I believe has contributed to his nice steady daily weight gain. At Achievement Day, my guess is that he should reach a finished weight of around 1400 lb . Zeus has been a very enjoyable project this year, which has really allowed me to have more time to work on my grooming and showmanship skills. I look forward to finishing out this years market steer, continuing to strive to produce the highest quality and BEST tasting beef, and I look forward to seeing you all in Hanna On Saturday, June 13th . Hello, my name is Fallyn Duque, I am in 6th Grade at the Roman Catholic School in Oyen, and this is my 4th year in 4-H. This year, I have a black, home raised Simmental cross steer named Wally. Wally has been an excellent calf to work with, he was a little hard to handle at the start but the hard work has paid off and now I am proud to call him mine. Over the past few years, I have gained a lot more confidence working with my animals through the time and effort I put in every day. Working closely with my steer has helped me improve my handling skills, responsibility, and confidence both in the barn and in the show ring. My steer, "Toby" , is very similar to last year's steer. Hi my name is Rhett Rude, it’s Hard to believe this is my last year in 4H. The tools I’ve learned from my years in 4H I will carry on into the big World. This year I have multiple projects a Show Steer named Woody, Carcass Steer, Carcass Swine and a herd project. I was honored to be elected as our Club President for my final year. My name is Macy Lyster and this is my 2nd year in 4-H. This year I have continued building my confidence while learning more about caring for, feeding, and working with my steer. I have really enjoyed spending time in the barn and improving my skills by working with my animals. My steer, “Dodge,” is a big, thick Charolais cross steer with a quiet personality. He came from one of our proven, consistent producing cows and has continued to grow and develop really well. Dodge is gaining around 4lbs/day and should weigh around 1,600 pounds by Achievement Day. My years in 4-H have come full circle. My steer, Buck, is from my own small herd of cows. His mother was a former 4-H project of mine which makes my last year in 4-H extra special. Buck is 3/4 black angus and 1/4 Hereford and he has done exceptionally well on feed. Although I will definitely miss 4-H, show and sale, and all the friends I have made along the way I am looking forward to pursuing Agricultural Business at Lakeland College next year. Hi, my name is Coleman Norris. This is my 9th and final year in 4H as I am graduating from high school and I’m off to college in the fall. I would like you to meet my steer, Hero. Hi Folks! This big guy really stood out in the fall during weaning and I just needed to see what he could grow into! His unique coloring caught my eye but the size of his frame sealed the deal. Weighing in at 898lbs he has been on a steady growth curve and should finish around 1700lbs. He is a gentle giant and really enjoys attention! My projects this year include a Red Simmental Female Herd and a Carcass steer with a great build and a spicy attitude. Perfect for a steak dinner! My name is Ridge Foot & this is my 5th year in 4H. I’d like you to meet my show steer Landslide. He is a home raised, Char cross steer out of our heifer herd. She is the daughter of my first Black Angus cow purchase which I had bought to create and grow my own herd. She is small framed but has lots of power and very strong muscles! May is a very sweet calf but occasionally she likes to test my boundaries by trying to push and shove me off my feet which is constantly keeping me on my toes!

Hi, my name is Kaleb Baird and this is my first year selling a steer. I am in grade 4 and I love animals. My steer this year is a semimetal main Anjou cross and his name is Patrick. Hello, my name is Kaydence Baird and I have been doing 4-H for 5 years now. I am in my second year as an intermediate with my second year with a steer project. I would love to introduce to you my steer Chuck. He is a pure black, Angus. I chose Chuck for his length and width and his overall size and appearance. Chuck is a very gentle boy with a great attitude and is very loving and calm with me. We have been to a few shows this year together. I continue to learn about care, feeding and finishing my animals so he is just right. I have learned so far that it takes money but more than that. It takes work lots of work and time to get them to finish just right and be the calmest boy at the show the best part of the 4-H year is the show and sale because I get to see y fellow 4-H member showcase their animals and I get to showcase my animals, not only do I have a steer this year, but I also will be showing my herd that I am very proud of. At the CRY show in Stettler on April 19th, he weighed 1,241 lbs. Nacho is a big puppy dog who has been a great 1st steer. I can't wait to show him off on June 13th.

Hello, my name is Tucker Clarke. I am 10 years old and this is my 2nd year as a junior in the Hanna Rangeland 4-H Multi Club. Are you by any chance looking for a new freezer? Well, you better because if you are buying a steer the size of my fat steer you’re going to need one! His name is Pug and he is a red huge, gigantic Simmental Cross from our home raised herd that is known for having “MARBELOUS” meat! I am Callie Mashon, and this is my last year of 4H after 11 years of participating in this club. This is my show steer Niko, he is a Red Angus cross. Texas is out of an Angus x Hereford Cow we purchased from Plover Lake Ranch a few years ago and a top performing Charolais Bull. Texas is very quiet and I took him to 3 shows this winter which he did great at! Texas is a well-built steer as his long, deep thick and has a good hip. Hello, I am Klyde Griffith and this is my 2nd year of 4H. I named my steer Bob the Builder as he looks like he is a body builder! I love this steer and the first time I tied him up and tried riding him. I picked 908 out of our herd back in August, I actually made my mom take a picture of him I liked him so much. Bob is out of a big Angus x Simmental Cow and our top performing Charolais bull. I showed Bob 3 times this winter and I was impressed how well he did in the ring. Bob is extremely quiet. My favourite thing about Bob is how deep he is and carries an abundance of muscle from shoulder to hip. I would like to thank Andy Rock Livestock for purchasing my steer last year.

My name is Clay Hutton and this is my 4th year of 4-H. This is my prized Speckle Park, Storm. Storm is a calf off of my cleaver calf that I raised. I am pretty proud of the Speckle Park herd that I have been building. Storm has excellent confirmation, and has really filled out nicely. I think he looks like a steer that should have really good marbling inside and out, so should be great eating! Hello again! I am Rexstin Griffith and this is my 4th year in Market Lamb. I have really enjoyed the Sheep program and have learned lots about sheep over the past year. I attended the Provincial 4H Sheep Show last summer in Stettler and made a lot of new friends and contacts in the industry. I named my lamb Sonny this year. Sonny is a Suffolk X and I purchased him from the same place I have the last 2 years. Sonny will finish around 125 lbs; he carries his muscle from his shoulder over his hip. I am Klyde Griffith, and I also have a market lamb. This is my 2nd year in market lamb. I named my lamb Thumper and my favourite thing about Thumper is all his wool on his hind legs for grooming. He is going to look wicked on Achievement Day. I attended the Provincial 4H Sheep show last summer in Stettler and learned so much about the breeding project. My dream is to own 500 Ewes one day and sell lambs to 4H kids. Thumper stuck out in the pen as he was long and growthy. He is square with strong back legs that carry the muscle down from the rack over the hip to the hock. I want to thank Wild Flower Angus for purchasing my lamb last year.

Me again! I am Rexstin Griffith and this is my 4th year in market swine. Pigs are by farthest the hardest project for me as they are so wild to begin with! This year my pig’s name is Porky. We raise our own pigs as we have a boar and a few sows. Porky is a Hereford x Landrace/Large Black barrow. When he was born, he was the longest piglet in the litter and still is today. Porky will be around 300 lbs when finished in June. His breakfast sausage will taste great with maple syrup and pancakes. I would like to thank Plover Lake Ranch for purchasing my pig last year.

Hi again! I am Klyde Griffith and this is my 2nd year in market swine. This past fall was much easier to farrow in as the weather was excellent! I named my pig Harry as I love the movie Home Alone. There were many piglets to choose from but Harry stood out as he has the biggest hams I have ever seen on a pig. Trust me when you see him in person you will know what I mean. Harry loves to be played with and will chase me around the pen just for me to scratch him. Harry will not disappoint when you are BBQing his pork chops this summer at the lake. I am Callie Mashon, and for the first time (and last) I decided to tackle a pig project. This is my pig Peter, and oh boy did he make me question my choices. I quickly learned that when it comes to pigs you can’t lead them around like a calf, they just do their own thing. Pigs have quite the personality, and Peter certainly does, he loves scratches and especially loves watching me chase him around the pen. He’s been a fun project to wrap up my 4-H journey, and I’m proud to offer him for sale. By purchasing this pig, you're not only getting a quality product, but also supporting a member finishing their 4-H career on a high note.
This year’s Cleaver group was a great group with interests in many areas of the Multi Club including Beef, Swine, Lamb, Laying Hen and Crafts. They explored skills such as making tallow, tying halters, processing wool, livestock identification for cattle, sheep & pigs and public speaking. The next generation of 4-H is bright for these young members!

What comes first the chicken or the egg? Well that is a question we still can ’t answer but we have learned a lot about both during our Laying Hen Project! We start our project by incubating our eggs, learning how to candle or light fertile eggs to watch them grow then the most exciting part...watching them hatch! From there they grow from cute little chicks into feather covered beauties that lay amazing eggs for us to enjoy and sell!

Our craft project was busy this year!! We used our creativity to hydro dip mugs, design suncatchers, shared candy cane reindeers with our friends at the Hanna Lodge, rocked some stone tic tac toe games and learned a lot about creating special works of art using our own minds and hands!

Our Charity Steer was able to fill the freezers at the Oyen & District Food Bank and Hanna Food Bank with over 400 lbs of meat each!
This overwhelming success was an amazing lesson in giving back to a meaningful cause. Many District families who have spent time within the walls of a Ronald McDonald House joined our graduates in the ring demonstrating the impact the organization has to our communities!
Hanna District Online Auction
Born out of necessity to raise District funds in 2021while still socially distancing during COVID the online auction has become a popular event for both its donators and bidders. Every second year each family in the district donates an item to the auction to assist in raising funds to help cover costs associated with our annual Show and Sale. The auction isn’t limited to just members but it open to friends of 4-H as well and the response has been amazing! Collectively the three auctions held in 2021, 2023, and 2025 have raised over $40,000 which has helped cover costs for DLMS, building rent, shavings, judges, supper on sale day and trucking just to name a few expenses. Watch for the next online auction on Facebook in 2027!
