On behalf of the whole crew at Vermilion Livestock Exchange, we welcome you to the Second Annual Gotcha Covered Bull Sale. With three breeds represented on the bull side and a select offering of breeding heifers, the producers that came together to offer these cattle truly do have you covered. The bull producers involved in this sale have extensive knowledge and experience operating sustainable commercial cattle herds and have put those same basic principles to work in their purebred divisions. These cattle are intentionally bred and developed with their future in mind. All of the bulls and females will be presented with full transparency for your appraisal on Monday, February 9th, at Vermilion Livestock Exchange.

Terms:

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable on the day of sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made: no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless perious arragements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Certificate of Registration:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association or Canadian Charolais Association or Canadian Simmental Association, unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Semen Collection:

Sellers reserve the right to collect 100 doses of semen on any bull in this catalogue. This collection would be done at the Sellers expense and the buyers convenience and would be for in herd use only.

Guarantee:

Each Animal becomes the buyers risk immediately after the animal has been sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association or Canadian Charolais Association or Canadian Simmental Association with reguard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genectic soundness.

Health:

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

On behalf of the crew at Selte Cattle Co. we would like to welcome everyone to the 2nd Annual Gotcha Covered Bull and Select Female Sale. We want to extend a thank you to everyone who has shown an interest in our program this past year, and to those who have put in the effort to purchase off the farm the past 10 years, your support is greatly appreciated. We also want to thank Jesse Lawes, his team and our fellow contributors for helping put this sale together. With more bulls on offer we felt this was the fairest way to continue to support our customer base.

2025 was a year that the ranching community needed after years of increased inputs, and dry summers the strong market and snow coverage is a welcomed relief. We hope that this will be a continuing trend for 2026. We are pleased to be able to offer a consistent group of Long Yearling Red Angus Bulls. These May/June born bulls are fed their first winter on a moderate growth ration to ensure longevity. During the summer they are turned out onto the coulee pasture, where they have to navigate hills and brush before being brought back to the yard in September. September to current date they have been on a balanced TMR ration and allowed to bloom.

Bulls are important but so are the cows that they come from. Our cows are ranch cattle, not in the words that they are ranchy, but in the fact that they are expected to maintain themselves, calve without assistance, and wean a respectful well-balanced calf. The cows only come back to the yard to be AI’ed and weaned, the rest of the time they are at pasture. During the winter months they stay out grazing corn, swaths, bunches, and once the extended grazing is done then TMR to ensure they stay well maintained. We believe that you must like the way your cattle look, watch input costs, but also be realistic with their needs, finding the balance requires attention and consistency in your herd and thankfully we have mostly been able to achieve that. They start calving on banked grass which we believe allows the cows to mother their calves fully with out running off to the feed truck when it comes. These cows know how to put in the extra work for us. The end goal is to make sure that their calves will put in the extra work for you.

Borradaile Cattle company is pleased to welcome you all to Vermilion Livestock Exchange for our second annual Gotcha Covered sale with our fellow consigners. We would like to say a huge thank you to our bull buyers from the last 4 years and look forward to working with any new ones.

These bulls come from cows that only spend calving season in the yard. Mid May to October our cow herd is out grazing pastures. Once crops are off, they will graze those fields till November when we wean calves off the cows and send them out to swath graze cereal crops till calving which as of this year the bred heifers will start in March and the cows in April.

Once weaned all our calves including the bulls go on a back grounding TMR of corn silage, Brown oats, hay and straw and free choice mineral. We want them to be allowed the time to grow out naturally to ensure their longevity. We are proud of the bulls we have raised and quality and longevity are at the top of the list. Any bull sold is one we would be proud to use in our own herd and come from exceptional dams.

We have felt fortunate this year with the strong calf market the and beautiful amount of snow thus far into the winter. May it bring smooth calving, great runoff, full dugouts, and thick pasture’s.

Even though the weather wasn’t the best last year on sale day, our first sale was a great success. Thank You to the outstanding staff at VLE for all your hard work in making sure everything ran smoothly.
