The Gelbvieh Logic Bull Sale represents a group of small/medium sized breeders, covering three western provinces, bringing together a diverse range of bulls for your consideration. This provides you with the convenience of having a local breeder with knowledge of your area or the option of looking farther afield for that special bull that fits your specifications.

The Gelbvieh Logic Bull Sale includes pedigrees that each individual breeder has purposefully selected for. This provides you with a variety of choices to better match your requirements. Red and black purebred Gelbvieh, Gelbvieh Balancer and Gelbvieh influenced percentage bulls. Capable yearlings and strong extra age bulls. Performance bulls that will produce the type of feeders the market is looking for. Calving ease bulls that will give you that extra peace of mind. His sire Hillsdown Scout is a son of Hillsdown Finnigan out of our 2025 dam of distinction cow Harper Lee 28D. Neolythic’s dam Silverline Jaybird is a strong production cow with a clean and tight udder. This April 1st bull has nearly caught up to our January born calves. He has great depth and strong hip that ties low into the twist. He is going to be a prolific herd sire.

Next In Line was one of our top bulls this year. We seriously considered keeping him. His sire was sold for $70,000 to the US a few years back and continues to be a prolific sire in Canada through AI options. Next In Line’s dam is a black purebred daughter of Earthquake. Earthquake is known in the Glebvieh breed as a massive bull that leads in the calving ease category. Crossing these two easy calving genetics with good production cows is yielding some superior genetics and epd’s. This super easy calving bull is built correctly and has been our biggest gainer. Napoleon is the epitome of calving ease. At the same time he has a solid weaning weight and has gained very well in the feed pen. He is sired by Earthquake, a massive bull known for short gestation periods and low birthweights. Earthquake calves are all very vigorous at birth and gain like crazy and I’d expect the same from this bull’s calves. His dam is a moderate framed 88% purebred cow with some black angus influence. I try not to pick favorite cows, we all know what tends to happen to them, but I’ve had a soft spot for the 14H cow since she stood out from our first heifer pen. Over time I have noticed her cow family to constantly produce some of our best females and I’m excited to see how they shape our herd in the future. Her growth numbers are a little on the extreme side and breeding her to 44L who is more in the middle of the spectrum brought this bull’s numbers into a pretty usable range. Since showing at the Futurity in December, he has continued to develop at the top of our sale pen with his added rib and length. I believe he will sire exceptional females, an ideal bull for someone looking to build a top-notch cow herd in the new beef era we’re entering.

We don’t dabble in Balancers much yet but we had an opportunity to use Nitro’s sire to cover for our main herdsire for a month and we’re impressed with the progeny. He stems from the same matriarch cow as 29N does and his dam has a proven production record: A bull we exhibited in the Futurity a few years back, a couple of great females with a bright future here and a bull doing great work at our neighbours. We worked with Shelby in the fall who exhibited Nitro at Farmfair for us and did a great job showcasing his potential. He could work as a dual purpose sire in some heifer programs but primarily would work to raise moderate framed cows who can wean those payweight steers for many years in a row for you.

He comes from a correctly made dam with longevity and fertility (37cm scrotum on January 20/25). He is puppy-dog quiet and easy fleshing. This bull has the potential to put performance (weighed 1221lb on January 20/25) and calving ease into any herd. All B&R Ranch bulls are slowly grown out for longevity and not pushed with feed. They live on a hilly, treed, 50 acre parcel where the bulls must walk to water, to feed and to their favorite bedding areas.

RETURNING FARMGGATE USERS

HOW TO BID IN A TIMED AUCTION

Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.

Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.

Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process.

Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.

WATCH LIST FEATURE

If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.

SALE ENDING / CLOSEOUT

Most FarmGate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding. What is Racehorse Style Close? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

How will Extended Bidding work? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

BIDDING CLOSE & FOLLOW-UP

After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions. Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.

Terms & Conditions

It is the intent of the Gelbvieh Logic Bull Sale consigners to provide you with common sense sale terms combined with effective after sale support. We look forward to working with you.

The Gelbvieh Logic Crew

BREEDING STATUS: Each sale bull twelve months or older as of March 15/26 will have successfully passed a breeding soundness exam performed by a Veterinarian prior to the sale date. This exam will include a scrotal measurement and semen quality evaluation. Younger bulls that haven’t passed a breeding soundness exam will be sold subject to passing an exam when they reach twelve months of age. We aim to provide our customers with a bull that is ready to work when required.

DNA PROFILE: Each sale bull will have a 100K DNA profile on file with the Canadian Gelbvieh Association prior to the sale date. This provides added accuracy to the information regarding characteristics of the bull that is included in the DNA profile. These include parentage verification and genomically enhanced EPDs (expected progeny differences). This could also include polled status and coat colour.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each sale bull will be duly registered with the Canadian Gelbvieh Association. After receiving full payment the consigner will offer to transfer this registration to the buyer of the sale lot.

BOARD OF BULLS: If you would like to have your purchased bull remain at the consigners facility after the sale this must be arranged for between the consigner and the buyer prior to the sale. The consigner will advise as to the cost of this additional service. The cosigner will continue to care for the bull in a similar manner as they did prior to the sale. During this period the bull will be the responsibility of the buyer and insurance may be required. Protecting your investment with insurance is strongly recommended regardless.

DELIVERY OF BULLS: The individual consigner of the sale bull will offer free delivery of the bull within a 200 KM radius of their facility where a reasonable route is available. This will be done at the convenience of the consigner with regard to arrangements made with the buyer. If a buyer would like the bull delivered beyond the two-hundred KM radius this would have to be arranged with the individual consigner prior to the sale. An extra delivery fee may be applied.

GUARANTEE: All bulls will sell in accordance with the terms and conditions recommended by the Canadian Gelbvieh Association. Any additional or alternate terms or conditions must be mutually agreed to by the individual consigner and buyer prior to the sale. In the case that either party is not fulfilling their responsibilities or duties it will be the responsibility of the consigner and buyer to deal with this solely between themselves. The maximum value of the guarantee will be limited to the sale price of the bull. The Gelbvieh Logic Bull Sale provides no guarantee perceived, stated or otherwise and will not be a mediator or otherwise in any case.

BIDDING: Bidding will be acknowledged per the standard features of the online sale provider. Details of the DLMS Farmgate sale procedure is listed in this catalogue.

PAYMENT: Payment will be cash or cheque payable to the individual consigner at par in Canadian dollars due at the time of sale. US funds will be accepted at the current rate of exchange on the day of the sale. The buyer will be contacted by the cosigner to arrange payment. The right of ownership of the bull will be transferred when full payment has been received by the individual consigner. If you would like to make any alternate arrangements for payment this must be mutually agreed to by the individual consigner and buyer prior to the sale. The Gelbvieh Logic Bull Sale is not responsible for any collection, distribution or otherwise of payment.

LIABILITIES: Any person visiting a consigners facility will do so at their own risk. It is understood that the visitor is entering a functioning farm operation and appropriate caution must be taken. Each individual consigner has worked in this environment practicing reasonable safety precautions. The individual consignor assumes no liability, legal responsibility or otherwise for any injury or occurrence resulting from entering their facility.
