Welcome to the annual Footprint Farms bull sale. is year marks our 24th year of Footprint Farms selling Charolais bulls. We are proud of the fact we have been selling bulls for many years and we are excited for the future of selling bulls for many more years to come.
It’s never more obvious today of the bene ts of using a Charolais bull. e calves your bull sires will continuously bring more money at sale time than any other breed, no matter if you’re a cow-calf producer, backgrounder, or nisher. It’s a proven fact.
Our herd has changed over the years and we’ve made a conscious e ort to lower birth weight and increase calving ease without sacri cing weaning weights, overall growth and structure. Using a Charolais bull is not a fad and the market has always demanded Charolais genetics and will so for many years.
Please be our guest and join us on March 19th to view our o ering in this year’s sale. e sale will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the hopes that a later start will allow everyone a little more time to do your chores before rushing o . Again, our sale is a video sale. NO BULLS will be entering the building. We will have the bulls penned right beside the heated building for your viewing. So if for any reason you need to look at the bulls while the sale is on, you simply walk out the door and the bulls will be right there. e spacious pens will allow you to walk around the outside of each pen on three sides, allowing safe viewing for both yourself and the bulls. I would again urge everyone to come early and score every bull. In other words, make a larger list than you normally would just to make sure you are prepared for bulls not entering the building. We value your e orts in attending and want this to be bene cial for yourself, all the while still allowing the bulls to be stress free.
As always, if you have any questions about our program or any of the bulls in the sale please give me a call. If for some reason you are unable to attend sale day, please give myself or one of our local sales representatives a call. Let us know the type of bull you’re looking for, the type of cows you are breeding these bulls to, and we will do our best to nd a bull that meets your needs. If you cannot attend the sale, we encourage you to take advantage of DLMS online services.
e bulls can be viewed at home prior to sale day. is will allow you to be able to appraise the bulls at your own pace. Sale morning the bulls will be penned by 12 PM, to allow plenty of time for viewing. We know some of you are calving, so rest assured we run a quick sale which will have you back on the road if need be. Steak will be on the menu with all the xin’s, following the sale. As always, I look forward to visiting with everyone on sale day. See you at the ranch.
Sincerely, Travis
ABOUT OUR OPERATION
For anyone new to our operation, we run two totally separate cowherds. One herd calves in January and February, producing our yearling bulls, while the other calves in April and May producing the two-yearold bulls. We feel we are unique in this approach in terms of offering two options to you, the buyer. None of our bulls have been previously offered for sale – which means we don’t hold over a yearling bull that didn’t sell for whatever reason to try and sell him to you as a two-year-old. The yearling bulls are weaned in early fall and fed a high fiber based TMR ration. The two-year-old bulls stay out grazing as long as the grass will hold, and are then fed a high fiber TMR ration as well. Our rations are formulated with slow, healthy growth of maturity at the forefront. A high fiber based TMR ration helps ensure that these bulls have been developed to last while out in the breeding pastures and for many years to come.
New for this Year
All bulls have been scanned for ultrasound data. We hope this will be another useful and relevant tool for our customers to use when considering the bulls.
- DCR Blue Print
Blue Print was a sire we used through AI this past year. He calved extremely well for us and you could expect his calves roughly 10 days early on the average. His calves grew like weeds and never looked backed. ey are heavy muscled, wide bodied and travel well on great feet and legs. We will continue to utilize his genetics in the upcoming years.
- LT Governor
Governor hit the scene with as much hype as I’ve seen in a long time on a Charolais bull the spring he sold. As Brent eil said to me “Travis he’s a man among boys in this years pen”. Rightly so, as he commanded $220,000 with multiple groups of breeders bidding for ownership. We used him through AI and couldn’t be more happy with the results.. His sons are true performance bulls and are in the top of this years bull pen. Big soggy made and have great dispositions.
- Backwater Jack
One of the youngest national champions, he’s more than just a show sire with over an 18 inch REA and a 3.5% IMF. We think this guy will be a di erence maker. He sires attractive looking progeny in both sex’s of o spring. His dam is an ultra attractive cow who has also hung her own fair share of championship banners. She is a breed leading donor in every aspect.
- Countdown
Countdown has been on the scene for a few years now. He has gained a lot of popularity with good reason. He has an excellent track record for excelling in calving ease. He produces beautiful females, that are highly sought a er for front pastures. His sons hit the mark with calving ease like his father, and like their father they are well structured with mass & eye appeal.
- Remington
We were able to secure the Canadian rights to LT Remington 0038 this past year. LT Remington boasts CE & BW epds in the top 2% of 1% of the breed. He has been successfully used on thousands of commercial and purebred heifers at Lindskov’s with great results. We feel he is not only a calving ease bull but will provide enough performance to sire bull sale worthy sons as well as retention worthy females. Backed by a solid pedigree.
- Halftime
I rst saw Hal ime as a calf at Rocky Payne’s. But just my luck he was already spoken for. I mentioned that if he ever came back up for sale, I wanted a chance at owning him. With Wendal Weston dispersing his cows a year later. I was given the opportunity to purchase Hal ime, I didn’t hesitate. I feel this is one of the best Gameday sons in the country. We have used him heavily in both programs with great success.
- Legacys Game Day
Game Day is a bull who I feel exempli es what the commercial cattlemen seeks when looking for a herd sire. He is heavy muscled, with a wide stance, and is wrapped in a thick hair coat. We used him through AI & embryo transfer so you can expect more sons in the upcoming sale o erings.
- LT Signature 6136D
Signature is a bull I selected out of the famous Lindskov- eil herd in South Dakota. I was searching for a bull with not only calving ease, but a bull who would increase weaning and yearling weights. When I rst laid eyes on this guy, I immediately was taken with how quiet, and easy to handle he was. I loved his depth, width and overall muscle, along with his easy moving stride. Once I found his picture perfect dam I knew I had to own him. He still has a great big foot under him, and is maturing into a very large bull. is is Signature’s eighth set of sons to sell and they do not disappoint.
- Footprints Slim Jim 265K
Slim Jim is a homegrown bull we retained from our 2023 sale to use on our heifers. He has not disappointed us in the least. We are extremely impressed by Slim Jim’s ease of calving. He follows that up with calves that grow well all summer and throughout the feeding season.
-
Blue Value
Blue value has been around for many years. He’s undeniably a great female producer. ere’s a long list of breed leading donor females across North America that are all sired by Blue Value. is bull stamps all his females with lots of rib shape, big wide tops and impeccable udders that milk. Look to his sons to produce replacement quality females, along with sons with strong marbling traits.
- WCR Commissioner 593P
WCR Commissioner is back again this year. e results are as expected, he sired bulls just as I had hoped he would. ey calve light and continue to have rapid growth. ey are easy to nd in the pen with their eye appeal. I think they will sire an amazing set of feeder calves.
- KCH Lode King
Lode King was a tan bull I bought a few years back, he was everything I was looking for. He was quiet & super sound & loaded with lots of muscle. Unfortunately he broke a leg only a year into his time here. I decided to dip back into the AI tank and try him again, I’m glad I did. He calves well, the calves grow well and he holds color.
- Back Road
We were lucky enough to see Back Road a couple times as he was growing as a calf. Luckily, we were able to partner up with Wilgenbusch Charolais in purchasing him. Back Road is out of the O’Neill cow Miss Hot Dam 32J who is proving herself to be quite a high-quality, and highly respected cow in the breed. Back Road is sired by none other than Backwater Jack, and if you’re into EPDs check this guy out. If you pay attention to pedigrees you’ll notice Back Road has both Dory 6501 and Miss Hot Dam up close in his pedigree. With building blocks like these it only cements your foundation.
- Senator
While I was touring the massive Lindskov Charolais herd in South Dakota in the summer of 2023 I noticed Senator and his dam none other than the famous LT Athena 1247 cow. Who is also the mother of LT A nity. At 12 years of age she was still one of the most impressive cows in the herd. Her udder was impeccable, and her feet were still amazing. While she was starting to show her age, she was still powerful and impressive. At that time I knew I was going to try my best to purchase Senator. Senator is sired by LT Governor who is renowned for his power and performance. is combination is proving itself to be a perfect mix of femininity and power. We look forward to many years of Senators in uence.
- RBM Ransom J99
99J is a bull we bought out of South Dakota in 2022 from RBM Livestock livestock. He is sired by LT Ransom, and out of the beautiful RBM 5100Rhinestone E160 cow. We were extremely happy with this guy when he hopped o the trailer. He continued to meet our expectations as time went on. Look to more of his o spring in the years to come.
-
Dogpatch Kahlúa is like a ne wine - he keeps getting better with age. We were rst taken with his depth and width and overall mass. He has continued strengthening those same traits as he gets older. He has a great foot and strides out well. He has a very well rounded demeanor, and is easy to handle. is spring we welcomed our second set of o spring. ey’re all born unassisted and were lively at birth. We feel he is the best red factor bull we have used on our place to this date.
Kahlua
- Rangewar (pictured sire of Rangewar, Warlord)
Rangewar is a homegrown Warlord son that we kept back out of the 2022 sale to carry on the Warlord line. Unfortunately we lost this guy and only were able to get a year of breeding out of him before his injury. We had extremely high expectations for this guy. He was heavy muscled wide based and moved like cat on perfect feet and legs. We fortunately will have daughters to carry on his breeding line.
- Merit Round Up 9508W
We were fortunate enough to be able to walk Round Up while he was still alive. Moving forward we will still continue to utilize his genetics by AI and embryo transfer. ese sons of his simply worked in a commercial setting. ey calved easy grew tremendously well and had lots of hair.
- LT Airey 5226
is cow is simply stunning in her overall phenotype and structure. When I rst laid eyes on her, it was the easiest decision I’ve made in selecting a cow to be a frontline donor. When we were able to secure the rights to pick any female in the LT Lindskov’s herds from the national sale in Denver, I asked Brent iel for his opinion. He said, “if I was starting a herd, 5226 would be at the top of my list.” I don’t know much, but when Brent iel talks, you better pay attention! We’ve had many successful ushes with 5226 and look forward to many more sons and daughters in our herd over the next few years. We truly believe she’s a true building block in this herd.
- LT Brenda 9174
e Brenda Cow family needs no introduction to most Charolais breeders in North America, with many breed leading matrons sharing the Brenda name. When I toured the impressive LT Herd, LT Brenda 9174 caught my eye in a massive, sea of white cows. A er a lot of deliberation, 9174 was the selection. is cow is not only appealing at rst glance, she has impressive performance numbers, and has high indexing ratios within the herd. is cow will add power to her o spring. We ushed her heavily with Lindskov’s, and expect many great things from her in the future.
- LT Brenda 2184
A few years back we were on the search of a high end foundation type donor cow. We spent many hours researching pedigrees and production on some of the most elite cows in the breed. We dipped our toes into the Brenda cow by buying a ush on her through the National Sale in Denver. With great results we pursued the opportunity to buy an interest in her. is cow has a production history that is hard to beat by already producing high selling and nationally utilized sons for her other owners in the states. is powerhouse has brought lots of in uence to this sale, and will continue to over the next few years. We are excited to say the least.

ABOUT OUR FEED PROGRAM
Feeding high levels of energy and in particular grain, can surely promote great gains in growing bulls. e potential for long-term consequences on soundness and longevity present, if the diet basics aren’t managed properly. Footprint Farms bulls are raised on moderate levels of high quality, lower starch grains, and highquality forages, harvested at the proper stage of maturity to be highly digestible. As proper nutrition doesn’t begin at weaning, each year, a well-balanced feeding program is in place from conception to sale time. Incorporation of organic mineral technologies and proper vitamin supplementation to the diets throughout the year, optimizes health and growth in the bulls for sale every year.
e extra time and e ort taken to ensure consistent feed supply, consistent mixing and delivery to the feedbunk, provides the results seen in the cattle on sale-day, and keep the bulls in a herd for years to come.
Best wishes to the Foot family, and all their clients for a great sale, and an excellent year!
