Welcome to

Rolling into 2026 we see an extremely exciting cattle market. All classes of cattle remain strong. A huge thank you to everyone that supported us in the fall with our online commercial bred heifer and purebred Angus heifer calf sales. We saw females trade to both past and new buyers. As we write this, the first breds that were AI’d back in the spring of 2025 are just calving now. As many have used the strong market to improve the quality of their cow herd. Here at DRSS we have been working hard to improve the quality of bulls on offer. Over the last few years, we have been using more and more AI to allow us to select top bulls to pair with the females we have. More recently we have been including more embryo work each spring. We have identified some females in our herd that have just hit it out of the park year after year. Increased levels of flushing and using different herd sires has and will continue to move the needle for both the females that call our pastures home, and in tern, the sons and daughters they raise. We are extremely excited to see the continuous growth of quality we see in new, young females starting to calve this year. The dam of lot 8, not only calved this spring to her AI mating. Her daughter as a bred heifer also calved the same day to her AI mating as well. We continue to focus on selecting females with high levels of fertility and great mothering ability. Each generation improving on the last. In this years sale you will see some new herd sires for us such as Woodhill Revival, SAV Certified and Montana Judgment. All while offering some bulls off our tried and true PM Pay Weight 157’19 and PM Tribute 128’20. We lost Tribute last spring due to injury, but thankfully we had been collecting him over the years to use in our commercial bred heifer program. Our bulls are fed for longevity. Our vaccination program is detailed for every animal we raise and more information on the nutrition and herd health can be found one page over.
With the growth of our fall commercial bred heifer program, we have been selecting some open females from those pens to sell along side our bulls. This year you will find one of the strongest sets of open females to sell in 2026. Selected from close to 300 females. These heifers have been palpated by Dr. Laverne of Gull Lake Vet just west of Lacombe. They have been fully vaccinated and fed to ensure they go out and get to work for you. Our direct to consumer beef program has been going very well. Any females that don’t have the personality or structure we are looking for to make a breeding female, quickly find a home in our beef program. Most of these females on offer will be early January calves and will be ready to breed at anytime you may desire.

BUY BACK PROGRAM
A big focus for us has been sourcing more heifer calves each fall. We look for all sizes to fit our different breeding times. We look for nice sorted packages and work closely with producers to put groups together every fall. The main focus is breeding type females that can fill our commercial heifer program. Producers that source bulls from us, please reach out and let us know what you have on offer.
Terms and Conditions
The terms of the sale are cash, cheque or etransfer payable at par immediately following the close of the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder.

Late summer our bull calves are moved from summer grazing onto fall pastures. Come late October we will gather the bulls, vaccinate them and move them home for the winter feeding period. Our cows and calves stay on a mineral program year round that is formulated for the different seasons and forage types. From there we will place them on a TMR of corn silage, 1C high protein Alfalfa hay, pea straw and a complete bull developer ration. The bulls intakes are followed over the feeding period with the help of Performance Beef in our tractor unit to ensure proper Dry matter intake each day. This program gives us the ability to track and monitor intakes on a daily bases. The bull feed is formulated to maximize forage intake. Provide proper levels of total diet protein and energy. A complete mineral package with chelate minerals and high levels of vitamins ensure a proper balance of the total TMR. With calving later in the season compared to most purebred breeders we know its important to feed to the animal and match intakes based on current weights and growth curves.
HERD HEALTH
All bulls will be fertility tested prior to the sale and are all Sire Verified.

how to BID on

1. Website

First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. (please note due to some of the text notification features the Farm Gate Time Auction Site requires a new separate account from your DLMS Live sale site) After you create your Farm Gate account you will receive a text message with a pin code to verify your account. On your first login to Farm Gate Timed auctions we recommend you go to your profile and confirm your notifications are set to YES. This allows the site to send you text and/or email notifications when you are out bid and if there is activity on your favorite lots.
Returning Farm Gate users:
If you have used Farm Gate Timed auctions in the past simply enter your username and password to continue. After you have logged in you are able to browse the timed auctions on DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions.
3. How to Bid
Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.
Place
Next Bid
to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.
Max Bid Amount
to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions, your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller.
Example of How the Max Bid Works
If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.
4. Watch List Feature
If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list, you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.
5. Sale Ending / Closeout
Most Farm Gate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.
What is Racehorse Style Close?
Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.
How will Extended Bidding works?
When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
6. Bidding Close & Follow-up
After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions.
Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale Manager and/or Sale Consignor.

Over the years we saw a few sons off our Tribute bull that were stamped just like him. Our lead off two year old is one of them. Deep sided with some added extension through his front end. The dam of this bull is one that you will see move into our flush program. Each year she has done an amazing job and just keeps getting better with age. Beautiful udder on this female. We are calving out more and more Tribute females, you will want to keep every daughter off of this bull.

A tribute 2yr old off a cow with a little different pedigree. A bull with some added length and added dimension. A little bolder in through the front shoulder while still offering more than enough calving easy for home much shape he carries today. The Tribute daughters are very exciting. They have that “Angus” look. Deep sided with great udder shape.

The lone Payweight son in the sale. Fire 157’19 is a walking herd bull here at DRSS. He has been used extensively on our commercial heifer program as an AI sire for us. Looking back, this Payweight son has bred around 300 plus females for us the last few years with great reports from producers on calving easy and performance at weaning. We have been calving daughters off of this bulls sire. We love the udders, feet and added length. You can tell this bull is sired by our Payweight son simply by looking at the head shape of him. A bull with some flex and great mobility.

A lone bull with a touch of Maine Anjou in the sale. Sired by our walking herd bull DRSS Oklahoma 356H. This bull is a little tighter in his belly shape. Offers the most dimension of any bull in the sale. The big reason he is in the sale he goes back to our old Maine Anjou cow 27Y. 27Y has raised some of our largest weaned calves year after year. A son of hers is a walking herd bull that we use heavily on some of our commercial cows. The daughters of 27Y have some of the best udders in the herd. Feet. I can’t say enough about the quality of foot under any female that goes back to 27Y herself. I have lost track of how females in our herd go back to the damn of this bull. If you ever come for a tour of the herd, ask to go see one of her first daughters that we have kept, 47A.

The heaviest bull in the pen goes to this Revival son off an old cow we bought years ago from Diamond T Land and Livestock. I would have to check but I believe this cow has produced our top end bull the last three years in a row. She has hit her stride in a big way. Still holds a great udder. Structurally sound with a foot that has never been touched. The calves off this bull should have some extra length, shape and dimension while still having great calving ease.

Two full ET brothers in this years offering. The 527N bull is the one with a little more shape to him. Our donor cow Fire 53G is one of our very best. We have flushed her a few times the last year or two. Averaging 18 number one embryos per flush. Her last natural born bull calf was our lead off yearling last spring and sold to Chad and Stacey Meunier of Meunier Livestock of Barrhead AB in our 2025 sale.

This bull is shaping up to have a great look to him. A little more dimension in his style. We have used the Revival bull on some of our cows after seeing his sons sell over the last few years at Belvin Angus. The damn of this bull is one to watch. She calved to her AI mating just a few days ago right along side her direct daughter who calved the same day to her AI mating. Not an overly large cow at this point in her life but a female that weans off an incredibly high % of her body weight year after year while holding her condition and shape. High fertility in the damn of this bull. She has rebred to her AI every year since joining our herd as a open heifer a few years ago.

We sire verify all of our purebred calves both on the male and female side. After calving out a fairly large group of cows all AI bred to May City we were certain we only had daughters born. When one bull calf managed to show up we were glad to see the DNA confirmed it was a May City. Off of a cow that goes back to the Soo Line Lady 9339 donor cow for poplar meadows angus. We believe this is a great option to breed heifers to as we had good luck using May City ourselves on heifers and knowing the calving easy of his dam DRSS Lady 383J.

Commercial Heifer calves
These heifers will be sorted by weight, type and kind. There will be heifers and packages with higher Simmental base along with some that are higher Angus base. Blacks, Reds, Blaze face, we will have packages to fit all operations. All heifers will be fully vaccinated and ready to breed. Have a good look here. Most of these heifers offer the weight and frame to be bred nice and early for mid January calves with a few packages ready to breed for a little later calving as well.
Heifers will be videoed and posted on DLMS FarmGate with the bulls.
Weights will be available on the supplement sheet.
