A common question I have been asked by producers no! our black bulls are heterozygous black (meaning they carry one black gene and one red black calves and on red cows it should be 50% black calves and 50% red calves.

A change from the last few years is the 3 tan bulls we have on offer, along with 2 outstanding blacks and 5 reds who all deserve to be in the sale pen. A common question I have been asked by producers is, will the black Charolais bulls throw grays because of their Charolais pedigree? The answer is no! our black bulls are heterozygous black (meaning they carry one black gene and one red gene) so, on black cows they will always throw black calves and on red cows it should be 50% black calves and 50% red calves. If a red cow throws a gray calf, it is because she carries the dilution gene and could throw a gray if bred to any black bull, no matter the breed. Hopefully this brings a little clarity. Final Thoughts … I hope your calving chains collect dust, your water bowls are not froze up on that final -30 day and when you see calves bucking around the straw, you stop and smile.

DM Livestock is located 2 miles north & 3 miles west of Carrot River, Saskatchewan. On farm viewing of bulls is available at anytime prior to closing time on March 10, 2026.

Online Bidding- Online sale begins on 8am March 9 and closes on March 10 with racehorse close starting at 7pm March 10, 2026.

Catalogue Errors: If errors are found after catalogue is printed, they will be corrected on the DLMS Farmgate website and will take precedence over printed material in catalogue.

Videos of the Bull will be posted on Farmgate Timed Auction Sale page as well as dmlivestock.ca website.

Payment - Invoices will be sent out by email to address used to bid during sale. Payment will be accepted by cash, cheque or etransfer. (emaildmlivestock03@gmail.com)

Insurance- Bulls become buyers responsibility at time of sale , insurance is not required but is encouraged.

All bulls will be semen tested and vet inspected prior to the sale.

Certificate of Registration- All bulls are Registered by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry will be transferred to each buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery- Bulls will be delivered/picked up within 2 weeks after sale unless prior arrangements have been made. We will deliver bulls for .75/km for up to 300 Km. Further than that we will help assist in finding a ride for your bull.

DM Livestock may retain semen interests or partial walking rights on any bull in the sale.

USA Buyers:

For our American friends, the exchange rate will be displayed on the DLMS Farmgate Auction Page for reference on sale day. Bidding will be done in Canadian Dollars with an exchange rate provided on final invoice if payment will be made in US Funds.

We guarantee our bulls to pass the export testing to be exportable. The new buyer is responsible for all additional testing costs required for export. Seller will arrange deliver bull to the nearest point of entry at sellers convenience. Buyer is responsible for all brokerage, crossing & tariff cost associated with getting the bull in to the US. Please contact us ahead of the sale we are more the happy to discuss with you what the specific costs will be and how arrangements can be made for exporting of sale bulls.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Following the sale, DLMS will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact Darryl or Maria with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases.

26L could be the best bull we’ve raised so far. The way he developed as a 2-year-old impressed me so much that we decided to keep him and use him on our heifers and some cows in 2025. We are eagerly waiting for his calves to come in March. Now as a coming 3-year-old we would love to see him go to another operation to enhance a black Charolais program. He has excellent calving #’s, great phenotype and good foot and leg structure making him a feature black char bull in all of Canada this year. Retaining ⅓ semen interest.

I’ve been using the AI bull Redzone on a few of my heifers for several years now. 3M came out with a touch more birthweight but was still unassisted out of a heifer. His muscle expression exploded at about 3 weeks of age and he never looked back. Now as a 2-year-old he is an absolute stud. Why not buy a great black Charolais bull? It will give something to talk about at coffee row.
