Welcome
On behalf of ourselves at Kenray Ranch and our good friends from Ramrod Livestock I am honored to welcome you to our first online female sale. This idea was born early this spring during calving season as the Divas were being born. Working closely together the idea of offering a top end cut of heifer calves from our respective breeding programs was hatched. We decided at that time that all would be managed as a single group over the summer and that presentation was to be of utmost importance. All the heifers on offer have been fully show broke and many are entered in major fall shows across western Canada. We welcome the opportunity to work alongside the new owners to successfully campaign these females should that be your wish. If you have a junior member looking for a project calf, there are certainly heifers worth your consideration in this offering. We have enjoyed working with a few local juniors in breaking and presenting these heifers. They are kid approved and some have even earned themselves special barn names. The heifers are an honest representation of our two breeding programs; many are sired by the herd sires that walk our very pastures. You will notice that both programs believe in the strength of cow families and that many of the heifers on offer are closely related. There is not a doubt in my mind that this top end cut of heifers will develop into productive cows as they mature. The Anexa cow family has been well guarded since we acquired Anexa 226C as a donor from the legendary U2 dispersal sale. This cow family is loaded with maternal greatness, and this young March calf is no exception. Chapters could be wrote about the positive influence that Resource 137E has had upon the Red Angus herdbook both north and south of the 49th parallel. Cattle with some power, style and presence will be his most noteworthy accomplishments. The Warcraft 34L herdsire is a product of an extremely successful flush when Queen 30A produced well over 100 oocytes on her first flush. Anexa 101P has a mild disposition and would be well suited for an inexperienced junior member. We think highly enough of this calf that we have her entered her in Olds Fall Classic.

The Berry cow family is one that is relatively new to us here at Kenray Ranch. We found her maternal grand dam in the pages of the MAVV Red Angus dispersal catalog a few years back. 850L was an off age born calf at foot of the cow and was a big part of our decision to secure this cow family. Deep, bold bodied and highly maternal best describes this cow line. Berry 124P has added character and design coming to her DNA through the Misty and Mooney heritage within her pedigree. Maroon 25M was sourced from the good folks at Ter-Ron Farms and Six Mile Red Angus. You know the cow family is strong when those two operations pair up to form a partnership! Jet Stream 2P has been a bit of a crowd favorite, when we had her on display at the Manitoba Angus Summer Tour she sparked a few additional conversations. Here is a female that nicely stacks up a series of walking herd bulls that we have utilized within our breeding program. When asked what cow families are working well within our breeding program there are four that easily rise to the top. Included on that list is easily the Anexa cow family. The dam of this calf came in dam from the historic U2 dispersal sale when we selected Anexa 226C as a future donor for our herd. We marketed a ½ interest and possession on Anexa 22H at Red Round Up and are fortunate enough to manage her here at Kenray Ranch. The Anexa females typically don’t blow you away in any way shape or form, they are simply great cows that quietly raise calves within the top third of the calf crop. Isn’t that the goal, problem free mama cows that are capable of moving the profit needle into the black for years? Our Blue Collar 114K herdsire is a full brother to Anexa 22H and you can see the positive impact he is having through his daughters in this offering.

The Lana cow family was one of our foundation cow families that we secured 40 years ago back in 1986 when we purchased a few Red Angus females from the folks at Moose Creek Red Angus. That same cow family was extremely prevalent in their highly successful dispersal sale last year. If I have learnt one thing in my years of selecting and breeding Red Angus cattle it is to pay attention to the cow family. Some lines just work better than others and last the test of time. Considering that Missy 314A sits extremely close in her pedigree stack it is difficult not to imagine the impeccable cow that Lana 89P will develop into. The beef herd is going to slowly build over the next few years why not do it with proven cow families that have been ruthlessly selected for generations?

JACK BLACK Ja c k Bla ck - i ntac t mal e do nke y NOVEMBER 2025 This donkey “project” has taken on a life of its own and we need to reduce our herd numbers. Jack Black was born near the start of November 2025 after his mama Spirit had overstayed her breeding visit to our neighbors and friends place by an entire year… Sorry about that Jody & Mandy!! Black Jack is an interesting marked blaze faced stud, some would say that is a money stripe. We have successfully used his Mama as a halter breaking donkey and still use her when we (or friends) need a bit of extra help with a stubborn one. We have retained a maternal sister named Daisy and she has somehow entered the breeding herd as well. Our females originate from the widely renowned Gold-Bar donkeys and if you need these girls to do something you best have a pocket full of Scotch mints. They will basically do anything for a breath mint. I am told that was a trick of “Grandpa Joe”, who was a masterful stockman and a gem of a man. We will be sad to see Black Jack move along to a new home but I have a sneaking suspicion that our two Jenny’s are carrying surprises for the fall of 2026.
