Along with our sale partners at Maple Lane Stock Farm and Blueberry Ridge Angus, Poplar Grove Red Angus would like to welcome everyone to our farm for the Deep Roots Bull Sale Sunday March 8th. We are proud to offer this group of yearling Angus bulls, Speckle Park Bulls and Maine-Anjou bulls on sale day through the online DLMS Farm Gate auction and look forward to seeing everyone who can make it to the farm on sale day.
If you are unable to make it on sale day and wish to view the bulls you are welcome to drop by when it works for you. The Blueberry Ridge and Poplar Grove bulls are both being fed at our farm so they’re available for viewing any time. The Maine Anjou and Speckle Park bulls will be on site for sale day viewing as well.
We believe we have a good set of bulls on offer with a variety of birthweights for all applications, the bulls we have recommend for heifers are listed in the catalog and the dams are also available for viewing at the farm. Poplar Grove reserves the right to collect any bull at our cost and your convenience.
Kingdom 11N has stood out since he was little, a really thick built bull backed by a red dam that never fails to produce a great calf every year. This moderate framed cow has a beautiful udder, very deep sided and stands on a good foot. Kingdom’s sire is none other than Dwajo Kingdom 16K, when shown at Camrose bull congress he looked nothing short of fantastic, moderate birthweight with lots of thickness and size. Testing for red gene carrier is underway and results are expected prior to this years sale. Recommended for use on cows or larger heifers.

23N is a larger framed bull that’s a smooth built bull standing on a good dark foot. His dam 771E has been a good producer for us with daughters retained in herd, a good hard working cow. The sire of 23N is a home raised Bold Edition son that we utilized on farm. Recommended for use on cows.
Big River 10N has been a real standout since birth for us, he has a lot of eye appeal, performance, depth of body and a great attitude. He’s a smooth built bull with great style and he packs a lot of meat into a moderate frame size. Big River 10N came to our farm as an Embryo purchased from Merit Cattle Co. His Dam is none other than Merit Flora 1032J (a full sibling to Merit Investment 1054J). This young bull is sired by Ellingson Big River 0052, giving him pretty incredible genetics on both sides of his pedigree, a definite herd bull prospect for commercial or purebred cattle breeders. Thank you to Merit Cattle Co. for producing quality embryos like this and offering them for sale.
Rider 58N is a no worries heifer bull with plenty of calving ease on both sides of his pedigree. He’s a smooth made bull made with a long skull, good feet & hair coat and has a quiet disposition. His dam is a Bronc 273J daughter with lots of calving ease in her pedigree. His sire is the Rider Pride son we purchased from Brandl Cattle Co several years back that was a true heifer bull.
Merit Investment 1054J - Full Brother to Dam of Lot 3
Magnum 2N came to our herd as part of an embryo package purchased from Merit Cattle Co. Larger framed bull that will definitely add pounds to the fall calf run. He’s a bull that’s well suited to add frame and performance to most cattle herds. His Dam is Merit Lady Ann 7067E (Elite /Premier Dam) and he’s sired by S.A.V. Magnum 1335 who is in the top 9% of the breed for weaning & yearling weights. Recommended for use on cows.

Magnum 3N (full sibling to Magnum 2N) also purchased as an embryo from Merit Cattle Co. Also a larger framed bull that will add pounds to his calves. Recommend for use on cows.
Rainmaker 4N has been a good looking young bull right from the start and he has continued to get better on feed through the winter. He’s a big growthy bull that will add pounds to his offspring. His Dam 32k was purchased from Avelyn Angus in the Northern Select sale and is one of our hardest working young cows, Rainmaker 4N is her second calf and it looks like she’s got a great future ahead of her. Rainmaker 4N’s sire is DL Rainmaker 1879 who has some pretty explosive growth and lots of testicle in his pedigree, we find ourselves wishing we had bought more semen on the bull when we had the opportunity as his calves have been really good for us. Recommended for use on cows.

Bronc 24N is a larger framed bull that still has some calving ease in his pedigree. He’s a smooth made bull with good hair and lots of testicle and he stands on a good set of feet. His dam is a powerful Detour daughter that goes back to a cow family that came to our farm many years ago with a heifer purchased from the Howe dispersal in 1998. The sire of this young bull is Lucky 7 Bronc 273J, he’s done a great job for us here at poplar grove leaving us calves with reasonable birth weight that grow really well. Select 30N has always been a real eye catcher from an early age and he continues to get a lot of attention. He’s a moderate framed bull but he’s really put together right, lots of meat in a compact package. His dam is a fantastic cow as hard working as they come, she’s a never miss type of cow that will make good calf out of nearly any mating. He’s sired by Red Duralta 167 Select 34H who has been walking our pastures for several years now and has left us some fantastic offspring. Recommended for use on cows or larger heifers.

His dam was purchased from Lone Stone Farms as a bred heifer, she’s dark red with lots of milk, good feet and passes on her quiet attitude. She’s done a great job for us so far and just gave birth to her third bull calf recently. Selkirk 16N’s sire is the Towaw Selkirk bull we purchased in 2023 from their bull sale and it worked out great with this mating. Recommended for use on cows.

This young bull is the result of one of the first embryo flushes we did at our farm. His Dam 65S was a home raised female that was a very productive cow, she flushed 24 no.1 eggs on her first flush. His sire was Dwajo All Star 41x that made our farm home for several years and left a lot of good females here at Poplar Grove. The ladies will love this guy! His smooth muscled body and deep cherry red color will make him a popular bull in the pasture. His momma has stamped all of her offspring with a dark face and their offspring have passed it on down the line. Thelma 749E aka “Ethel” gets her babies to the top of the weaning pen every year. This was our first season using Franchise and we were pretty impressed with the outcome. Nash would make a great herdsire for your cow herd.
This bull comes from a great cow with excellent milk, udder and feet, she is coming up on 13 this year and she still raises our top calves year after year. His grand dam was our first purebred cow bought from Poplar Grove and she was a great cow, we keep every female from this cow family. He is a nice deep bodied bull who would be a good choice for larger heifers or cows.
