We are pleased to introduce Blue Moon Cattle Co. as family owned and operated Charolais breeders, dedicated to producing exceptional bulls that will do you proud, both in the purebred world, as well as crossing on your commercial females. Established in 2023, it was a dream well before that. Our ranch has been a labor of love for our family, and we take great pride in continuing this tradition for future generations.

In 2023, we had the incredible opportunity to purchase Soderglen Ranches 2023 bull calf crop, as well as their 2022 bred heifers and 2023 open heifers. You will see these bulls are true to what Soderglen spent years building, and we are excited to continue that legacy, and expand on what they created.

At Blue Moon, our bulls and females are raised to be quiet and respectful, all while contributing to your herd with powerful genetics, whether in the show ring, or in the feedlot pens.

As a family ranch, we value the relationships we build with our customers and local community. Whether it’s through volunteering with our local ag society and junior rodeos, direct sales, or simply visiting a neighbor, we enjoy building relationships near and far.

Any bull picked up on sale day will have $100 deducted from sale price. Bulls can be left free of charge at Blue Moon Cattle Co. or NIER Chaolais until April 25, but must be insured.

HERD HEALTH

Blue Moon bulls are raised on a TMR ration, consisting of 2/3 cereal silage, green feed, 25 lb bull ration and 10 lb of oats daily, and Crystalix tubs. The bulls will remain on the same ration up until delivery so they remain on a steady diet to ensure proper growth and development.

Bulls are monitored by the team at Agri-Health, and all bulls are on Herdtrax. They are vaccinated with Covexin Plus, Vision 8, Bovishield Gold, and Safeguard and Eprinex

SEMEN TESTS

All bulls will be semen tested and scrotal measurements will be available sale day.

INSURANCE

Bulls become your property the minute they are sold. We recommend you insure your purchases.

Greetings from Nier Charolais,

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to look through this year’s NIER Charolais bull offering. Just five years ago, NIER Charolais began as a personal vision — something I set out to build from the ground up starting in high school, with a strong belief in functional, hardworking cattle and a deep passion for the Charolais breed. NIER Charolais is a young, family-rooted program focused on raising practical, performance-driven cattle that thrive in real-world conditions. As a fourth-generation member of my family farm and an active participant in the beef industry through 4-H, junior shows, and breed involvement, building this program has been a natural extension of the life I’ve grown up in.

As a young breeder currently pursuing my Agribusiness degree at the University of Saskatchewan, my goal is not only to grow quality cattle, but to continue strengthening my knowledge of the industry and build a sustainable future within it. Watching this program develop from an idea into a group of cattle I am proud to stand behind has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey in agriculture.

The bulls in this offering represent the direction I believe the breed needs — balanced cattle that combine calving ease, performance, maternal strength, and structural integrity. They have been developed on a moderate, longevity-focused program and allowed to grow naturally, because the goal has always been to raise cattle that will go out and work long after sale day.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to my parents for the countless hours spent feeding, doing chores, and keeping things running at home while I am away at school — their support behind the scenes makes it possible for me to continue chasing this dream. I would also like to thank Blue Moon Cattle for inviting me to consign to their sale. A sincere thank you as well to Kailey Wirsta for her work on this catalogue, and to Robbie Chomik for capturing the cattle through his photography — your contributions help bring this program to life. And last but not least, I want to thank everyone who has mentored, supported and answered my questions over the years. Your kindness and generosity does not go unnoticed.
