Howdy Folks,
On behalf of Bench Farming Company, it is a great pleasure to welcome you to our 8th annual 2-year-old bull and bred heifer sale. First and foremost, we would like to thank all previous buyers and attendees for supporting us through the last 7 years. A lot of repeat buyers and local ranchers who are a pleasure to do business with. We, here at Bench Angus, are committed to working with you and supporting you. Buying and selling bulls can sometimes go south in unexpected ways. Animals will be animals. Thank you very much for your support and patience. Also, a great thank you to our sponsors, neighbors, veterinarians, SWAH and fellow ranchers. I also want to thank the T Bar team. Chris and the folks do a great job consulting and trouble shooting all through the year. Thank you so much. Once again, we feel we have a special offering to present this year. With the herd getting up in age, more culling than normal due to higher valuations, we’re left with some very distinguished dams that have proven themselves to be top breeding stock producers. Longevity is imperative to the operation as some dams have had 10 or more progeny.
We culled the oldest dam here last fall, having raised 16 calves, all natural. First calf in 2010 and the last in 2025. When we go sire hunting, we keep that in mind, not much research to be done on a 12th calf if the EPD’s and phenotyping are in line. Those dams are priceless.
The bulls on offer are raised from wean to yearling on a low energy, high straw, barley silage, grass hay and brown oat ration. These hull-less oats are really beneficial to gut health, very nutritious and produce very noticeable shiny, dense hair coat. Looking at the yearling EPDs and index numbers, one can easily be fooled as they are purposely fed with longevity in mind. As a yearling these bulls hardly average 1000 lbs.
At 18 months we generally start filling out their frame so come sale day, they’re close to 2 years old and around 1600-2000 lbs. The bred heifers, sisters to bulls are also raised on a 40% straw ration till breeding comes around on pasture. They were exposed from June 10 to August 10 to Merit Total TJL 4082M, Bench South Point BHB 100K and Cresent Creek Dry Valley WOS 126K. Preg checked Nov 5 and will vet check again prior to sale day.
A lot can be said about this great cattle market, but we also feel the sting when buying replacement stock. There seems to be no sign yet of increasing inventory numbers especially in the US where the cow herd is the smallest it’s been in 7 decades.
Mr. Trump’s favorite food is beef steak so no telling to what measure he’ll go to import beef. I say we ride the wave and enjoy it while it lasts.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Terms:
The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.
Certificate of Registration:
Each registered animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association, unless otherwise indicated. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.
Pedigree Estimates:
Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.
Health:
All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.
Phone, Mail, Wire Bids:
Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Guarantee:
Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.
Delivery:
Assistance will be given in getting your purchases home. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
Insurance:
We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.
Errors:
All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.
Liabilities:
All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

DIRECTIONS TO THE FARM:
From Gull Lake on the Trans Canada Highway: Take the #37 South to Shaunavon.
Drive to #13 junction and turn left (West) on gravel road #724 for 12 miles. Bench is on the right hand side of #724 after you climb the last big hill.
From Tompkins on the Trans Canada Highway: Go South on #633 blacktop go 30 miles to #724 and turn left.
Go 3 miles East on #724 to Bench Angus. There’s a sign Bench East at Sierra West at junction #633 and #724.
