Feeding Costs
Bulls will be kept for free until March 15th. After that, the bulls will be kept for $5/day.
Semen Testing
All bulls over 12 months of age will be semen tested prior to sale day.
Delivery
Free Delivery at the Seller’s convenience within a 200km radius of the farms, further distances will be charged according to cost. A $100 discount will be given to anyone who takes their bulls on sale day.

Sale Welcome
It is with great excitement that we welcome you to our 7th Annual Simmental Bull Sale! The resilience that our Canadian Agriculture Industry has in the face of trade uncertainty is keeping our optimism high. Performance calves continue to command premiums amid record-breaking prices and quality replacement females are encouraging heifer retention rates. While we are two unique programs, both Starwest and B Bar C strive for cohesiveness, with genetics that complement each other with minimal overlap. Our bulls are developed on top-tier nutrition programs, with ample exercise and longevity in mind. Throughout the growing season, our bulls undergo rigorous culling, with a particular emphasis being on temperament. We continue to focus on quality over quantity and believe every bull in the sale has the potential to strengthen cattle programs nationwide. Although writeups are not our strong suit, we strive to be thorough and transparent in our marketing and are happy to offer assistance with sight-unseen selections through videos, additional photos, texts, or FaceTime. With our shared understanding of each other’s programs, we are happy to guide buyers towards the bull best suited to their needs. Customer relationships and clear communication are paramount to us as we are happy to resolve any issues that may arise with diligence. The Simmental “stamp” has never been more sought after than it is right now as we annually see the steer calves sired by these performance orientated bulls top the market and the goggle eyed replacement and bred females have continued to set new records as we seen prices this last fall we never thought fathomable. Take advantage of all that Fullblood/ Fleckvieh Simmental Bulls have to offer here at the 7th annual B Bar C Starwest Bull Sale as we confidently say they have brought together the most uniform and consistent pens of bulls each program has offered in their lengthy careers as breeders. On behalf of the Houchin and Harold families, all of us at BMS wish to welcome you on February 18th, near Calmar, AB. One of the most exciting sets of strictly Fullblood and Fleckvieh bulls (with the exception of one exciting black herd bull), is this great event each and every year where you get the chance to acquire some of the real sought after polled and horned Fullblood bulls alike from two well known programs. The B Bar C and Starwest programs go hand in hand as like minded operations that put a heavy emphasis on their cow herd. They expect them to be sound made, easy doing females that produce quality offspring, breed back in a timely fashion and repeat the cycle while remaining easy on the eyes. We feel that reflects perfectly in this 2026 set of sale bulls. These bulls are one after another, soft made, easy doing beef bulls with hair, power and attractiveness. The industry has certainly spoken and there is no better time to take advantage of what Fullblood cattle have to offer all aspects of the business. The guess work is taken out of the equation when you purchase bulls from these outfits as you can guarantee a bull that will calve, offer performance and maternal qualities. The exciting commercial replacement heifers on offer are a great representation of what the young herd sires are set to produce for you and we feel they are a great set of females that can fit in with anyone’s program. Selling this handsome boy was a tough decision for us to make. He has been our most reliable and predictable herd bull. We’ve never had to touch his feet, he’s never once come up lame, always passes a semen test with flying colours and is a sweetheart to handle. He was used as our heifer bull prior to him becoming the 2,800lbs beast he is today and he calves like a dream. We’ve retained several of his daughters and they are some of our favourite females. The only reason we are selling him is, although he is heterozygous black, we want to focus solely on raising red cattle.
