Sale Welcome

Welcome to the our 23rd annual bull sale offering, one that we are proud have hold our herd prefix. As things continue to progress through some of the best days the beef industry has seen, we feel as thankful as ever that this is the way of life we get to enjoy daily. We know things change quickly in this world and do not take for granted the opportunity we have been given. Thank you to those who helped us make this last year a success. That includes all our valued customers, our dedicated hired help as well as the family and friends who have pitched in throughout the year. We welcomed a new face here in December, George Smith, along with his wife and two children. We are excited to have them join our team. James, Lee and Lachlan are fixtures around here day to day and their help is beyond invaluable year-round through the many busy seasons. Lachlan has taken the role of herdsman and ran with it while recently purchasing a neighbouring yard. We are happy to have him and Freya put roots down and remain in our community for years to come. This year’s offering is one of our largest to date and we think when viewed you’ll agree that it is one of our highest quality as well. You will see three significant new sire groups within the red offering, including the feature bull purchased from Lazy S; Harvestor 315L and American import; CDI Prosper 32L. We also added a breeding share from the 2024 spring sale season highlight; Blackgold Tangleflags. The red offering is anchored by two standout Red Mountain sons of the R Plus 1083J female we purchased with Double Bar D farms for $130,000 out of the R Plus dispersal. Our black offering also has new sire groups this year, including the widely successful American AI sire; ES Right Time and the first calf crop off Crossroad Dateline. There is also a larger more representative set of sons off High Bluff Kingston. One new addition to the calving ease section will be the W2 Southside sire group who calved well for us an whose sons have performed above expectations. We still have a large group of repeat sires in both the performance and calving ease portions of the offering. Those sires include the likes of Slider, Alpha, Vegas, Asset, Shamrock, Red Mountain along with many others. The bulls were photographed between January 2nd to 4th and have changed significantly in the last month, so please review the offering on cattlevids after our video dates of February 12th and 13th . Our herd health program and all bull fertility testing continues to be managed by Dr. Carmen Langevin, Flying C Veterinary. We have entrusted this role to Carmen for years and are happy to have her in our corner throughout the year to assist with any export testing of bulls heading south. Our herd nutrition has been handed over our good friend, Matt Criddle of Bullseye Nutrition. We have seen an improvement in overall fertility and the condition of our cow herd since he took on that role. Again, our bulls are being developed on a TMR ration that was developed by Matt himself. We feel the bulls will be in a condition that allow them to grow to their fullest, while not being over fed resulting in a bull that should last well into the future. Our capable sales staff will be remain largely unchanged outside of the addition of Gary Rairdan, of Stettler Auction Mart. Mr. Rairdan brings a wealth of knowledge and has been involved behind the scenes the last couple years marketing our bulls into Alberta - so do not hesitate to reach out to him. The Bohrson Marketing crew will be back again this year and any of the guys listed will be more than capable to happily assist you with any questions. They have extensive insight into our cowherd after years spent assisting us in our bull sale marketing. Our auctioneer will once again, will be our good friend, R yan Hurlburt. We feel this set of bulls well represents our breeding program being exceptionally sound and the type that will be of value for years to come. We are as always, focused on providing bulls with fresh genetics backed by our proven cow herd. As always, any calls or questions will be gladly answered. At this time calving has well progressed and since slowed down, so visits would be greatly welcomed. If you are not able to attend the sale, please do not hesitate to reach out to Kelly or Kyle as either of us would be glad to provide an honest opinion on any bull in the offering. We hope to see you in the coming month and welcome you to join us on March 9th at the ranch for a great smoked brisket meal and hospitality.

KWA MOUNTAIN 93N

• 108N is as complete of a herd sire prospect that we have put forward in recent memory and when studying him, you’ll find it tough to find a hole in this one

• He is deep chested, wide based, ideal headed and easy doing with solid fundamentals of great feet and a structure that carries him with ease

• His dam is still in the early stages of her productive window but so far has done a tremendous job of adding performance to whichever sire we have chosen to flush her to

• Most would remember the job the Red Mountain daughters did in the herds that utilized him, and adding the 1083J donor to an already great maternal bloodline should make incredible females

• These Simmental cattle have a way of showing when they’ll be special at a young age and these flush mates were both standouts from day one

• ET brothers off the legendary Red Mountain and our joint purchase with Double Bar D from the R Plus dispersal

• 93N is our red high performer of the year, while weaning off over 900 lbs and hitting yearling weight of 1410 lbs.

• Long bodied, stout topped and big proper feet we love this combination of dark red colour and all out performance

KWA MOUNTAIN 108N

Miss R Plus 1083J - Dam of Lot 1 & 2

• This is another prospect we knew was going to be a fun one to put through the paces on the way to the bull sale. We strongly considered keeping him for ourselves

• 15N has as much natural depth and stoutness as any of his pen mates and carries pen presence that has stopped all visitors to this point

• An outcross red pedigree made up of majority black genetics and a touch of Angus to keep it extra fresh

• Dam has been a consistent producer and is a very well-built, half-blood female out of the Musgrave Big Sky bull

• 3/4 Percentage Simmental

It has been a true privilege to work alongside the Ashworth Farm and Ranch team of Oungre, Saskatchewan, supporting their livestock nutrition program.

The Ashworth cow herd is maintained year-round on a fully fortified, intensive mineral program. This disciplined nutritional approach has played a key role in building a cowherd recognized for its maternal strength, structural integrity, and exceptional longevity within the Simmental breed.

Yearling bulls are developed on a high protein concentrate ration complemented by a fully chelated mineral package. The development focus for the sale bulls is to optimize skeletal growth, muscle expression, and long-term durability, ensuring they enter service capable of breeding efficiently and sustainably.

The Ashworth family stands firmly behind the program and the cattle it produces, and this offering represents a powerful, uniform set of bulls that discerning cattlemen will not want to miss.

Best of luck on sale day!
