Our sales are conducted in Canadian funds. The U.S. exchange rate will be available at the settlement desk. Upon successful purchase of an animal, the consignors will assist with the necessary documentation, health exams, brokerage and U.S. custom charges necessary to export your animal to the U.S. An additional fee of $300.00 U.S. per animal will be charged for this service, and is due at time of settlement. Transportation is not included in this amount.

Her Dam Gushy Roxie 13G (SDA 13G) is one of the most notable cows in the Basic Herd sold to Steppler Farms. A real Beef Cow, always brought home one of the better calves. This raffle heifer Norma Roxie 3N is living up to her background and at the 84 day wt. is the top indexing Shorthorn Heifer. Her maternal 3 year old sister sold this fall for $15,500 in the Jewels Sale. If you are a purebred breeder and want genetics that are hard to beat, buy lots of those $10.00 tickets! If you are a commercial producer and want a true punch of hybrid vigour, you’ll get it from her. There is no outcross blood in this heifer. Chance of a lifetime to own a heifer like this for a $10.00 ticket. Never would this heifer been offered had it not been that we are in the process of dispersing our herd.

The final bid in each round will denote the amount of that bidder’s donation. Example: Round 1 - Final bid is $300.00 to Ryan Smith, Ryan’s donation is $300.00. Round 2 - Final bid is $250.00 to Tom Jones, Tom’s donation is $250.00. Round 3 - The female is re-auctioned on a downward scale until no further bids are received at the low of $10.00.
Each $10 purchased (donated) represents one chance in the final draw. (Ryan Smith has 30 chances, Tom Jones has 25 chances and so on down the scale to the final $10.00 donation worth one chance each.)
One ticket for every $10.00 bearing the contributor’s name will be put in the draw barrel. At the end of the sale, one ticket will be drawn with that

Wow, what a great time to be in the cattle business! With strong calf prices, it sure makes things a little easier and adds to the optimism moving forward.
I’d like to personally thank our loyal consigners who continue to bring top-quality genetics for us to showcase. Year after year, the bulls and heifers just keep getting better, and that says a lot about the people behind them.

Welcome to the Douglas Bull & Female Development Center’s 62nd Annual Sale!
The past year has been an exciting one for the Canadian beef industry. Strong cattle markets have rewarded producers for the hard work and commitment it takes to build quality operations, and the optimism across the industry is as strong as it’s been in years.
It’s been a busy year at the Station as well. We’ve completed several improvements, including the installation of all new water drinkers throughout the facility to support cattle performance. We’re also proud to introduce our new Youth Incentive Program, designed to encourage and support the next generation of cattle producers. Once again, our consignors have brought us an outstanding offering of bulls and females. Quality runs deep across all breeds represented. In addition to our individual heifers, we’re pleased to offer four pens of heifer calves, giving buyers added flexibility and volume to meet a variety of needs.
We’re extremely grateful for our dedicated group of consignors whose willingness to help — whether on weigh days, during picturing, or proofreading the catalogue — plays a big role in the success of this sale. It’s especially encouraging to see strong participation from young consignors, highlighting a bright future for our industry. We’re also grateful to our many family and friends who step up when we need an extra hand.
This year’s sale truly offers something for everyone, including yearling bulls, yearling heifers, semen packages, pen lots of heifer calves, and the opportunity to win a heifer. Multiple breeds are represented to suit both commercial and purebred programs.

Now celebrating its 62nd year, the Douglas Bull & Female Development Center remains the longest running multi-breed development station in Canada. For over six decades, consignors from across the country have trusted the Station to develop and present their bulls and females in a consistent, practical environment that reflects real-world cattle operations.
Our multi-breed format is a strength — offering buyers the convenience of evaluating quality genetics from several breeds in one location, developed under the same management conditions. For consignors, it provides a competitive yet supportive setting where cattle stand alongside respected programs, allowing meaningful comparisons and broad buyer exposure.
The 112-day bull and heifer development program focuses on steady, responsible growth. Cattle are managed daily by a knowledgeable herds person using low-stress handling practices that promote soundness and longevity. We work closely with veterinary professionals to provide custom health care, breeding stock evaluations, ultrasound data collection, and carefully formulated rations designed to support sustainable development.
The Station continues to serve as an ideal platform for new and upcoming breeders, as well as smaller operations that may not have the numbers to host their own production sale. Through professional photography and video services, custom fitting, a detailed sale catalogue, coordinated advertising and marketing, and an experienced sales management team, consignors benefit from a respected and well-established marketing program.
This past year, we invested further in the facility with the installation of new water drinkers throughout the Station— part of our ongoing commitment to animal comfort and long-term infrastructure improvement. As we look ahead, continued updates and strategic improvements will remain a priority as we strengthen the station for future generations.

These cattle have been developed to promote adequate growth & muscle development all while challenging their genetics and feed efficiency. The bulls topped out at 16lbs/day on a 13% barley pellet complimented by grass/alfalfa hay and we feel they have excelled in this type of feeding scenario. The heifers were also fed a similar ration topping out at 10lbs/day.

Big hipped, big nutted, and big footed - all the makings of a herd sire! This guy has a commanding, masculine presence that draws your eye. 600 is out of one of the best performing cows in our herd and is backed by a pedigree of both performance and maternal excellence. If you’re looking to make some scale pushing steers and elite replacement females, look no further than this guy!

Another rugged growthy Pendleton son out of a Byland female by JSF Tonto. Docile, and out of a good milker, his Ribeye EPD puts him in the top 10% of the breed. There should be thick, muscular calves in his future!
A son of the $85,000 Gilman’s Green Fork and a Mistress dam, this calf has been a standout since birth. The dam’s last two heifer calves each won the “Show Heifer of the Year” in their respective years. This is a big growthy bull that will sire those heavy fall calves. Typical Soggy Dawg son. Substantial muscling, big top and full rear quarter, this bull is a meat machine. He comes with a strong EPD profile. His Pendleton dam was in our showstring as a calf.

The very last of the Royalty calves and he is a good one. He is very thickly made with that soft look about him. His dam has been a very consistent producer of high quality offspring. His full sister sold in the 2023 Jewels of the Prairie sale to the Rigney’s in Alberta where she was our top open heifer. With an 80 lb. BW he should be fine to use on heifers.
This is a first calf heifer’s calf and did she ever do a fine job with him. The Isla cow line is known for added performance along with longevity. Add in the Manhattan bull and you should have a top quality offspring. BW 82 lbs.
This solid red, polled Apparition son has a lot of noteworthy qualities. He carries a solid pedigree throughout, his dam coming out of the national sale held in Brandon. Florence 2F was crowned as Manitoba’s show female of the year as a bred and has gone on to become one of our herd matriarchs. Leonardo is 100% pedigreed, carries natural thickness and tons of rib shape as well as a respectable 84 day weight of 1040 lbs and ADG of 3.83.
Another strong son of Apparition 2K who possesses more frame and added length than his brother, while still carrying adequate thickness and middle. 10N is also papered 100% and boasts a strong pedigree on both sides, with some notable names on the Marion Delight side. We can’t say enough about the Apparition bull, his calves are predictable in every way. Talisman has performed well on test, with an 84 day weight of 1101 lbs and an ADG of 4.13.

A double polled black son out of B-Bar Shininstar whose progeny have been exceptional for us. He’s out of a first calf heifer and is halter broke as he was shown successfully alongside his mother this past summer. North Star is a deep bodied, big topped bull with great hair who moves well. With his moderate birthweight he could be used on either heifers or cows.
has ranked near the top of the Limousin pen for both phenotype and performance. Maternal brothers have sold to Eden Meadows Farm, SK and Chris Fee, SK. Twin to a heifer.
Big Star progeny set the pace in our bull pen last year, and 106N is poised to carry that torch again. He has ‘the look’ with added muscle, extra length, and the kind of eye appeal that commercial producers demand. 79N is an ET calf sire by the maternal leader True North. Two full brothers sold very well in last years sale. Dam is our old crowfoot cow who was second to none for simply producing the good ones and breeding back first service. She has a calving interval of 362 days in her entire career which is exceptional. 79N is Angus HD tested, free from all genetic defects and he is in the top 4% for CED, 5% for BW, 1% for DMI, 2% for MCE, 3% for milk, 5% for teat size and 15% for udder structure. 95N is a heifers first calf, and what a bull he is! He has loads of length and style with a smooth well blended shoulder. Only two days from being a March calf, this stud is a thick, wide topped, deep bodied Blairswest Charlo 28E son. His sire 28E also has the distinction of having Bar E-L Erica 74A; maybe the greatest female in the Angus breed as his mother. The Lion was CWA champion junior yearling bull, national show Senior champion bull, and produced the national champion junior bull calf the same year. His paternal grand Dam is a third generation donor cow. He has performance and calving ease in an outcross pedigree to the most popular pedigrees today. A bull who we truly believe in and would like to use in our own program as we feel very strongly in what he has to offer as a maternal herdsire.

Neptune is a bull calf that belongs in a herd where he can make replacement heifers. His dam, Crossroads Candace is a phenomenal uddered cow that knows how to raise a calf. A son of hers has been my main herd sire for the last two years and I’ve been very impressed by his calves. His sire, Lawless, was a high gaining calf with early development and his first crop of calves are the same.

Calico Creek Nixon has been a stand out since he hit the ground. He’s deep, square, and an all around very attractive bull. His dam is an awesome outcross cow that I’ve been utilizing to add some frame and power into my herd through her sons. If your looking for your next Speckle Park herd sire then take Nixon into serious consideration.
These two Loyalty sons are flush brothers out of JRSF MS 43Y. Her progeny were well sought after and sold very well in our 2020 Simmental dispersal. We couldn’t resist the opportunity to raise some more 43Y offspring when the opportunity came by to purchase 43Y embryos. Take note of the March birth dates on these two blaze faced brothers.

We’ve got along really well using Brooks. This meat wagon is a good example of the power in his genetics. His dam came out of the R Plus dispersal. She has worked really well for us. If you like your bulls loaded with serious muscle then this guy will catch your interest.
This guy is in the top one percent for weaning weight. His dam turned ten this month and is nursing a Can Am bull calf this year. Expect to see him there next year. She has never needed to have her hooves worked on and her udder is equal on all quarters with small teats. Picture available.
He was favourite last summer so he went to the local fall fair and was shown by my grandson. I lost his dam to a stifle injury last summer. Her pedigree was strong on maternal traits and calving ease. Top Tier will bring out the best of her qualities. He should be winner.
Take note of this fellow; younger than the rest.A February 5th calf. His EPD’s put him in the top ten percent for calving ease and he still ranks in the top 25% for weight gain and on top of that he passes on strong maternal values. Top Tier on the top and Otis on the bottom of his pedigree spells calving ease and maternal qualities and on top of that he has gained above average on test. Here is a bull I would gladly keep for the versatility he provides, especially with that nice blaze face. This guy from the first month after he was born showed signs to be a good bull in the future and he didn’t disappoint. He’s off a bull we bought as a two-year-old from Dequier Cattle. He has really impressed so far with this guy being part of his first calf crop on our farm. I expect this guy will make whoever takes him home a very happy person.
A big powerful dark red Epic Bull with some black on him. He had a Jan 17 WT of 1635 lbs. He has a calving ease number of 12.3. His Dam is a dark Red Southam Western Force cow that we really like. We have already sold 2 heifers and 2 bulls in previous sales from her at the Station. Her Bull calf last year sold to Bruce Olson from Chaplin, SK. She has another Epic Bull Calf by her side this year.

He is deep and wide in his rib shape, and round and stout from behind. His dam is a moderately framed hard working Bounty Hunter who is quickly becoming a top producer in our Simmental herd. She’s a deep made heifer out of a big cow we purchased from Triple R Simmentals years ago and a Bentley son from Perkins Land and Cattle and I’d say they made for a pretty good combination. We decided to offer 3 Red Polled commercial Simmental Heifers as a pen of 3 for the sale. They are late February/early March born. They were vaccinated with Bovishield Gold, Ultrabac 7 and had a pour on solution in December.
This February/March born group of Simmental heifers are sired by NAC Ladies Man 136K. We purchased 137K from the Carson family in Rossburn specifically for his power and performance. He has done exactly what we hoped, Ladies Man offspring are stout, soggy made cattle that weigh up in the fall. His first daughters are calving here now and they are holding their condition well, and milking on tight, tidy udders. Their Simmental dams are all still in prime production, and are easy keeping no fuss females.

This group of Shorthorn sired heifers is a group we are quite proud of. The red heifer with white markings is sired by none other than Mosside Defender, who needs no introduction after his extremely successful show career and the great things he’s doing for the Ross’s. The two solid red heifers are sired by Apparition 2K who has also earned himself a few champion banners along the way. At the time of print, the first Apparition daughter has calved here, and she is milking well on a near perfect udder. These January heifers are hard to part with, they are out of some of our best Simmental commercial cows and I expect them to be every bit as productive as their dams.
A strong set of commercial Angus/Shorthorn heifers. 2 blues and one black. All should grow up to be big, strong cows with sound udders and great maternal instinct. We are confident these heifers will work for you and are picked from the heart of our replacement pen.

The terms of the sale are cash, cheque or etransfer at par to the Manitoba Beef Cattle Performance Association Inc.(MBCPA Inc.) within 3 business days. The buyer assumes all responsibility of his/ her purchase at the end of said purchase. The MBCPA Inc cannot be held liable after the sale clerk has recorded the buyer’s bidding number on the sale receipt. All settlements must be made with the office clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Phone bids are welcome.
Announcements made from the block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are asked to pay close attention to announcements.
All bulls & heifers purchased may be left on site until convenient for pickup until no later than May 15th. Two weeks of free board then $10 per head per day after that. Please inquire at the office for more details.
Livestock insurance will be available from Guild Insurance onsite sale day. Insurance is mandatory for any cattle being left on site after the sale.

Decision Deferred Bulls:
A Decision Deferred Bull (DD Bull) is a bull who has not received a satisfactory semen test. About 45, 60, and 75% are expected to pass at 12, 13, 14 months of age respectively. A DD bull is usually a sign of immaturity and will most likely receive a Satisfactory passing with time. Any bull sold in the Manitoba Bull Test Station with a DD breeding soundness evaluation must still be above 50% normal and the veterinarian is confident that he will pass with time. If a bull is purchased in the sale, the purchaser will pay for the bull sale day and the funds will be held in trust. The bull will stay 4-6 weeks (dependant on veterinarian suggestion) at the Manitoba Bull Test Station and then will be retested at this time. If the bull receives a satisfactory grade, the purchaser can come pick the bull up and the cheque will be deposited. If the bull still does not receive a Satisfactory passing, it will be based on the suggestion of the veterinarian and consignor of how to proceed with the bull. Feed, yardage and semen retest will be the responsibility of the consignor until the bull reaches a satisfactory semen evaluation or other arrangements have been decided upon.
